    Sunapee Today.

Just got back from a two hour therapy session. Knees feel good. There is a huge base, and the groomer seams were not so bad. I only rode Flying Goose but it was very carvable. There was the standard softer stuff on top but just and inch below was a great base. I left at 11 15 and it was starting to break a bit more on the harder carves in the snow that had been in the sun the longest(obv). Forecast is not healthy for continued good base conditions, supposed to be sunny and in 50 to mid 60s through this weekend. How long can you ride a schtubby nose in softening eastcoast conditions?? It's like a tootsie pop comercial. One, Twooo, Auger, CRASH.

Yesterday we had wet snow for most of the afternoon, about 1/2 inch, might have been more up on the mountain there was more at my house then here at the office and I'm only about 200 feet higher. Today Friday is supposed to clear up with some sun this afternoon. I was supposed to ride Goon today but too much work piled up. I'm going to ride a couple hours after lunch today at soonipi and will post conditions upon my return to the office. This weekend calls for sun to start Sat. with increasing clouds and rain coming late in the afternoon to early evening. Sunday looks like the reverse with rain in the morning with possible breaks of sun in the afternoon. We are in the downward spiral now. Only a big dump of heavy wet will better the snow quality and maybe if it went back to 20 deg day and Zero nights. EZE

Yesterday. Went thinking it would be glazed over melted snow but it was perfect groomed cord about 2.5 inches deep with a firm base. I only rode Flying Goose as I was short on time due to going to ECES this week. I heard the rest of the mountain was the same, however I left at 9:30 so it cold have gone downhill quickly. I have not ridden with another carver yet this year! Actually been spending time with a free-heeler from the office who only rides on Saturdays. EZE
  4. I'd be interested in the board, as the current coiler wait list is early next season. Could pick up off I-93 somewhere and make a trade for the cash. Let me know your schedule for this week/weekend. Eric
  5. Proctor has a race team and trains at Ragged, may also have been a team from New Hampton School.
  6. The snow was incredible. I made it till 10:30 on Sat. riding with a tele friend. Sun I was reduced to the duckling right after I saw you and pounded 4 more out on the bottom of Flying Goose which was also incredibly gripy. I love to watch the jaws drop as I lay down some big ass turns right under their noses. Lots of rain today. I would give it at least till wednesday to dry out if anyone was thinking about going this week. By Saturday it will be back to the same great cord. EZE

  8. I rode Christmas mid day. I bought the big pass this year no blackouts:1luvu: I'm not allowed to stay after 10:30am but my normal progession is Sumit, North Peak, Sun Bowl, North Peak, and finally the Duckling Chair riping the bottom of Flying Goose until my legs are done. Looks like I'll be there thursday morning at 9am and then both Sat & Sun at 8am. Riding in the blue or gray coat this year, the orange coat was finally passed down to the cordwood/woodstove coat. EZE
  9. Poached two hours yesterday during work, snow is excellent. Looking more at a Thursday or Friday trip next and again for about two hours. Wednesday is Two For One day but I know you have the pass. They bumped Flying Goose on Friday Night:( It was epic up until Saturday morning when I rode the lift and saw the enevitable horror I knew would come. That trail rocks without bumps. Cataract into the bowl from the North Peak is beautifully wide right now and I imagine will soon have bumps of it's own. There is a new mountain cam at Sunapee which shows the eggbeater trail over to the north peak triple and then you can turn it all the way left to the park lift. I'll see if I can find the link off their website again and post it. EZE
  10. Should be epic next week if we get all the snow. I have not been disappointed by the man-made snow at Sunapee. I rode wed/th/fri/sat/sun last week and each day was great. Sunday afternoon was the best, once the rain left the sun came out the temps were in the high 30 and the snow was like early April, you could just carve as hard as you wanted to and the edge would hold. Almost every major trail is open. New this year: on the Duckling Chair (the oldest running chair in NH) they replaced the cross slats and added a seat cushion, very comfy, quite and uncrowded for those special mind relaxing lift rides;). Cataract is awesome and wide too bad the bumps will come soon. Also Flying Goose has been bumpless so far. Tha trail rocks without mounds of pointless snow taking up half the trail. DURACE where are you?? I'm on the early morning schedule again this year. Get there for first chair and usually gone by 10/10:30, have gone back twice during nap time for an hour but parking at that point is the worst. EZE
  11. Rough corny, dry, icy, dry, corny snow but it was lift accessed snow. Two Notes: 1. I should exercise 2. Maybe the long board wasn't the best choice for first runs this year. They were blowing snow everywhere at 32 deg in the parking lot. EZE
  12. Yahoo! Its finally here. Blast Off Top to Bottom. Website states they will be blowing snow every night from now till January weather permitting. Opening this weekend is another run from the sumit and one into the Sun Bowl. I have a two hour therapy session scheduled for 9am this morning. EZE

    Sunapee Update

You're worked up this morning. But I guess I would be too if I had those two beautiful board staring at me everyday. Saturday is the potential opening first day although the rain and warm temsp may hinder that. EZE

    Sunapee Update

Well my Sunapee Trenchdigging Friends. The first news report came out today. One of our favorite trails for carving big turns is changing. Cataract (trail pictured in my avatar)into the sun bowl from the North Peak has been widened this summer. YEA! Unfortunately to make way for a strip of Bumps:mad: down skiers left leaving skiers right groomed. This is to allow the bumps skiers a morning run in the sun. So no more edge to edge burners. Snowmaking with begin Saturday night with no offical word on an opening day. I'll keep you all in the loop as more info comes out. EZE
  19. Wildcat is 2.5 hours and 125 miles from Sunapee. Gunstock is probably 1 hour away. Due to your location it may be easier for you to get to Sunapee/Stratton/Okemo. Those three all have great wide trails, granted all 3 are a bit more crowded on the weekends. Wildcat is a traditional New England steep narrow trails but not crowded at all due to its location. Gunstock has some wide trails a bit flatter and great views but also gets a bit crowded on the weekend. I think your question to yourself is how much do you want to drive before you ride. EZE
  20. For my comments above, if I have personnaly offended and Canon Carvers. Just anxious for snow and a bit bored at work. EZE
  21. Has any new equipment is because Sunapee is generating large amounts of profit which it has to share with the state per their lease agreement. If I remember correctly when the did the audit of Canon last year they realized how much money it was actually loosing and that they had large amount of cash unaccounted for and had numerous employees aware of the safe combination. Don't they still use Tucker snowcats up there to groom with large chickenwire rollers? Check out the new Ski Magazine for who has the best of what in the east. Trolling trolling trolling.
  22. I picked that Jem up in April at discount. I even bought the Full Pass so I can raise havoc on vacations and holidays. I like to leave the 6 inches trenches for all those nice tourists that get on the slopes at 10am and have missed all the smooth cord, due to there 2 hour commute from Mass. The get out before the straight liners get off their bus.
  23. My fat little finger caught an extra a for sunapee. www.mtsunapee.com It is also a great pub not a get pub and it is literally 3 minutes from the base lodge.
  24. Ranked again #1 in the East for Grooming and Snow Quality. www.mtasunapee.com and you can stay at the www.mountainedgeresort.com that has a daily non stop shuttle to the lodges. They also have a spa for the ladies and a indoor to outdoor heated pool. There is also a get pub on site another across the street next to a ski shop and this is all within 45 minutes of Manchester. If you can go non holiday mid week you will own the mountain. EZE

    2010 Eces

Anyone at Stratton, Okemo, Sunapee can ride at any other of those moutains for free. Direct to lift no getting a ticket. I vote Stratton. Actually I vote for Sunpee, but it is too small for a ECES. EZE
