  1. my mom just rode shaped skies for the first time, the other day, actually (she's be skiing since she was 12). she's no carver in our sence of the word but she said she was more comfortable making a turn regardless of circumstances. I'd say that every on on the hill, hounestly probably carves when they ride, they just don't enter the carve well. This coming from a lift operator; i watch alot of skiers and snowboarders. (i think i know how to ski just from watching it, honestly)
  2. Call me jack

    Guitars

i've never played a taylor hollow body, but i'd i'm immagine it will be simillar to a gibson or epiphone. were your old electrics hollow bodies? what kinda music are you gonna be playing on it?
  3. funny, when i fall under a lift, all I hear are gasps, and people muttering 'is he alright? he's on a race board!'
  4. omg! I work with a guy who rides these and he keeps calling my board a ski board
  5. oh well, i'm definately in, although with #13 i can see why Clay was so doomed! lol I raced again, today actually. and yeah, you were right; those gates we're desined for snowboarders. lol, it almost took my head off. (god i'm glad i wear a helmet now. haha)
  6. I'll be there. we should get the gates set up so that point into the turn, in a snowboard friendly manner, in honor of Clay. Also, is there going to be timing set up?
  7. i had a little punk nearly run over my board yesterday, doing like mach 4. I wasn't even on it, it was really unnesseisarry on his part. I work at my bump, so often time, will just put the name tag on and get in there face. I remember one time i sat down to strap in (still in softie at the time) and heard kid yelling 'dont move dont move' then next thing i know, some kid ollied my board from behind. so i chased him down and told him not to do it. When he gave me lip back- oops! look who got there lift ticket pulled! He reported me to my boss, but, i had his support the whole way through.
  8. what is the point in the bolt on the front toe bail?
  9. i have them, and i love them. It's good to know that i'll probaby have them the rest of my snowboarding career (being that they're all aluminum, and i only weigh 150lbs, on a good day.) however, if i got a new board, and new bindings for it idk that i would swing the cash on them again. (mine were used when i bought them)
  10. so i am lift operator at my local hill. i see all shapes and sizes on snowboard. but i noticed today that when ever theirs a alpine guy, they're usally bigger than me all around. I'm 5' 10" 145lbs, am I nessesarly abnormal to the rest of the alpine seen? and am i at some kinda disadvantage?
  11. well, adrenaline, not to ruin your thread about Clay, but in case you don't remember, i'm the lifty at Afton. and i think i'm actually going to guest race tomorrow night, and yeah, i think it'd be a good idea to set up some stubys some time. I got a soft boot buddy that i know would like to practice them, as would i. (not to mention, i have more friends) So hopefully i'll see ya tomorrow. p.s. if you know of a more respectful (in regard to Clay) way to talk about this let me know.
  12. Hey adreniline, are you gonna race again at all this year?
  13. i sat here for about 3 minutes debating how to spell that actually. lol and yeah, i did mean a all-mountain carver and while were at it; can some one suggest a board size for some one who weighs 145lbs and is 5' 10"? no ever has the same dimmesions as i do when this stuff some up and i don't really wanna make a new tread for it lol.
  14. **** i was going up chair 2! I saw that happen. i wouldn't have guessed it was as bad as it looked! I hope the best for him. I could possible work for him, after afton closes for the season. Sorry but being a collage student, i need money.
  15. I'm a 26 i don't think i can adjust the forward lean on these boots. atleast, if i can, i can't find the adjustment.
  16. if you can swing the cash, just get a all mountain board. theres no reason the boots should have any effect on the boards abillity to apply correct tensel pressure (abillity to sink into the snow or flow over) to the snow.
  17. i can't really give a world of advice, but i can tell catek makes good bindings. the free rides are all aluminum and fully adjustable, like the OS2s, which are the binds i use for hardboots. the new catek freeride should last for ever, and if some thing does break i'm pretty sure they have replacement parts for it.
  18. I couldn't swing the price on snowboard boots. I got last years salomon foils. A park boot.
  19. So i did some modifications to to the boots to give'm a little more flex that helped, i'm still going to get real snowboard boots though. also, i'm use catek OS2s, and after riding for about in hour with just the boot mod, i switched my bindings from 0 lift front, 3 heel-rear (no cant), to 0 front, 6 heel lift (still no cant) this helped out alot, i think. I'm still fighting the boots, but i can feel the board, and ride it with alot more capablity than before. i can remember, but i think once my hand my i have touched the snow (if i did, i know their was no breaking at the waist) So i'm deffenately not gonna give up on alpine, just cause of my boots. congrats, you guess got another keeper of the faith. =)
  20. i'd say test it with 3* lift with both boot setting and 6* lift with both boot setting, then go with what ever feels more right.
  21. I voted no, simply because, i snowboard to have fun, not to be the best. I love snowboarding, in the parks or on a alpine board. I do want to be able to EC, but if someone says to me 'hey, prove you a good snowboarder' i'd rather not use that as a staple of my riding.
  22. Well, let me just say, first off I loved it. Second, it sucked. I know it's cause of the ski boots though. What should I modify on them to get more forward lean?
