  1. Racing just don't look good to the eye any more,EC is what gets people head's to turn! Some kind of exhibition of super EC style riders like Patrice Fivat or many others out there that are on that level of ECing or even the Casper carver style with the right promotion would definitely give hardbooting a new life! Also racing but some kind of racing like linked-turn limbo contest like (but with some kind of point system -+ for time and skids, finess etc) kieran said!
  2. Ι tried cutting a replacement from a shoe sole too and the result was not good because it was siting above raising it more than wanted where it should have been fitting(siting) in the pattern of the bootshell, maybe i will try again but this time heat the sole with a heat gun and then pressing it on the pattern to make it fit in!
  3. I got the same boots but i can't help you bro,i also would like some help, if someone knows if front soles from deeluxe boots would fit because mine have gone to pieces!
  4. Just got an idea, how about if i used a boxing glove? I'd look pretty stupid but maybe i could even drag hand.. boxing glove i meant!
  5. I don't think that i could push myself up from the hill one handed that's a thing that bothers me most! The break on the pinkie is like a hairline crack and when i asked the doctor if i could snowboard he told me that if i do and the finger breaks even more than i should look for another doctor! I thought maybe of making a self made cast for the pinkie if i go riding, would that give any protection?
  6. Due to lack of snow here in Greece i caught a rock with my left hand pinkie while carving this weekend and now it is broken, doctor braced it with the next to it finger and advised me not to snowboard for at least a month! I don't see the reason not to snowboard ,i know that i would need to keep my hands close to my body and in no way touch snow or even think of EC. Besides it making it difficult to suit and boot up (I hope that my friends or wife will give a hand there!)do you guys think i should listen to the doctors advice or keep on boarding? I knew that this would happen sooner or later (EC style riding is like your asking for it to happen!)but damn it not now, since all season there was almost no snow and i only rode 4 times, and this weekend we are expecting heavy snowfall.
  7. I don't think that anyone could be lazy on a long fast stiff GS board going at mach speed on the other hand i think that everything is easier and more effortless on a shorter softer SL or FR board because everything comes at lower speed's! I started with a 1,58 then went to a 1,60,1,67,1,71,177,1,83 and started going backwards again until i think i found the length that suits me better at 46 and not at the fitness level i used to be in my 20s-30s a 1,67, 21.5 waist feels to me just right to be lazy on!
  8. Sorry then,i didn't know that there was such a ptex with adhesive in it! Wish i could get a stick of it here in Europe!
  9. Maybe you didn't understand but i was referring to epoxy a patch over the gap like http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=24155&highlight=core+shot not putting epoxy and welding ptex after! When you melt or weld a big core shot the ptex that you apply bonds with the boards ptex at the perimeter of the gape and melts on the core (metal-carbon-glass)but doesn't become one with it so that's why i think i need to epoxy underneath the patch so it would stick in there for good! Someone correct me if I'm wrong please! Also it seems to me that ptex candles and strips lose there structure when heated or burned and are more durable cold ,when heated and applied most can be easily scratched even with my fingernails but before melting are harder and more durable!
  10. Why not? I can see the glass underneath the ptex and it has a resin!
  11. The method shown at that link didn't work for me! I have tried that kind of repair with on an almost exactly same core shot on a glass board of mine and it doesn't hold,i have done it over and over again maybe 5-6 times because even if it looks nice after i finish it once i ride the board the filing cracks,i tried all sorts of ptex candles, strips and with flaming and dripping and welding but the damn thing keeps on cracking! So is it that I'm not using the correct ptex or do i burn it and the ptex looses it's structure or is it that for a gape that big the only solution is cutting a strip and gluing it down with epoxy?
  12. I see that i get the best out of people Giati tsatistikes re Alexi mia erotisi ekana! Why get mad Alex?,i just asked a question! And why the sarcasm? First of all i never said that alpine snowboarding is only about EC this is my 16th season hardbooting (another 6 skiing)and only in the last 2 i (am trying to) discovered EC! As you mentioned the extreme carving technique needs steeper slopes and i couldn't agree with you more but i find that those mountains i referred are not steep enough (except maybe kremasi at kaimak but is almost never open mostly do to weather conditions!) And i wondered why do you prefer them compared to Aristoteles at 3-5 pigadia where i usually go and find to be the best groomed widest and steep enough for EC! (GREEK)>Den ksero an exeis paei sta pigadia ta 2 teleftea xronia alla den exei kamia sxesi me to pos itan prin,o aristotelis ,apo tote pou ton stronoun me axira apo kato kai piran ta kainourgia ratrak pou ton kanoun aerodromio kai me tin texniti xionosi egine apisteftos gia ksaples, oute bamps oute tipota, kai to leo ego pou to evriza sinexia palia giati itan apo tis pio akataliles pistes gia alpinesnowboard! KALI XRONIA!
  13. So Alex if steep slopes are essential for EC style turns (which i totally agree!)then why the hell do you and all your G-force buddies ride at mountains like Parnasos and Kaimak where there are none?
  14. If you ride long boards with huge scr's then moderately steep, extremely wide slopes are for you!!!! If you ride steeper and narrower slopes then shorter boards with smaller scr's are the way!
  15. When you say newer gear do you mean new tech gear as in metal boards and plates, and alu bindings?
  16. If its just a topsheet delam cant it be fixed with epoxy?
  17. In Bulgaria there is a run called Alberto Tomba and the inclination is 73% and if its groomed with fresh snow it's the awesomest run for EC!
  18. I have broken allot of boards (exactly all of my previous boards)but the only ones that are left unbroken are my 2 oxygens they are not protons (1 is a 1995 fr 1,67 and the second is a f2oo2 1,69)there oxygens and they seem almost indestructible to me ,i have nosefolded them over 5-10 times each and they still live! Could it be a titanal stress point failure?
  19. Something from 1,67 to 1,71 and 10-12 scr , Im 6.4 and 240 pounds but despite that my measurements say that i should go for 1,77-1,85 (rode them for years!)shorter boards now suit me better because of the runs i usually go to,there steep crowded and narrow! Would anyone ever buy a Lamborghini if he were to ride it 90% on dirt roads? I think the number 1 factor for determining the size of a board is where you mostly ride,if you buy a custom that is so that you can adjust the weight flex ratio! Large board with big scr's don't smell fear they just need big runs and skills!
  20. And just when i was about to say sorry about the remarks on the batmobile! Is that a prejudice remark about Greeks????
  21. O yes i wrote on another topic that i prefer ed the extreme eurocarve style riding than the racing style of the guy who posted it and all of you ran to eat me alive! Please save me the hypocrisy! Is it provoking not to agree with someone or not to like something in here,or see it from another point of view, and for that you call me a troll? You criticize me for dissing another posters avatar and yet you do the same to me ,yes i was a little out of line with chris houghton, but i was irritated by queequeg sarcastic post! And all because i disagreed that a board that isnt expensive is automatically a joke ,before anyone even rode the damn board or tested it!!!!! I tried to back up my writings by searching for material prices and then the sarcasm started again! Someone even wrote something about my economic status! And yet I'm the one provoking! I get it now how things work in here, from now on if i post i will always agree to everything and always make flattering comments on everyone's posts and never say that i know anything at all about anything! Like wow awesome board! ,killer topsheet dude!,terrific style man!, Is that gonna work for me? I WILL BE A NICE BOY FROM NOW ON! PLEASE EXEPT ME IN YOUR LARGE FAMILY OF HARDBOOTERS! OR MAYBE NOT!!!!!!!!!!! AGAIN,PLEASE SAVE ME THE HIPOCRACY!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Who the hell is Pastor Terry Jones? I'm not from the states although i was born there and lived there for 14 years and altho i am a U.S citizen i consider my self 100%Greek! Please tell me do you think i will burn in hell for my blasphemy?
  23. Well i guess you went straight through that website that's why you didn't see the inserts: http://snowboardmaterials.com/pages/inserts.htm Damn those inserts cost a fortune ,30 cents a piece in a 500 pcs box! there's option for as much glass-carbon fibre you want for 10$ a meter! I guess that rubber must also cost a fortune like the inserts too! Well is it that i pay for what i get for or that u pay much more than what something is worth? NITRO Super gs super stiff boards aint good for big leaps and deep powder ! Do you think that i should have gotten replaced in warranty after i took a nose dive after a jump following my freeride softboot friends! Damn it that i never thought that they would replace it for free! Really i didn't realize what gigantic leaps technology took in boardcustruction that a last year top snowboard can be outdated and seen as a non-current product! If that's the case then i will wait till next year to buy an up to date 2012 model that will even go up words the slopes too so there is no need to wait at the lift lines! Do you think that technology will be ready even sooner? From your avatar i can see that you are a tech freak ,what is that a car ,a bike ,or maybe a rocket ship?
  24. Well i don't know shiat about making a board but if you would like i can build you a wall or even a roof ! I guess that all the manufacturers you mentioned don't shop from that guy and i don't know the quality of there materials ,maybe someone can enlighten us! I guess all of the boutique board makers make there own cores but do they weave there carbon fibres and glass fibres, make there own epoxy and sidewalls and inserts and steel edges? I guess not! Maybe they even buy from the same guy that provides the other guy with the low-cost materials which i think that you wanted to say low-quality! And in that case material cost drops even more! From what i see there is no titanal on that site, but please tell me something ,when you order a metal construction is there a difference in the price then a normal old school glass-carbon fibre construction? And If yes does this justify the difference in the price: http://www.epicski.com/forum/thread/94551/what-a-ski-costs-to-make Man if you want you could put a gold topsheet with real diamonds on a board and that boutique board would cost 20,000$ in the U.S but if there was (theoretically!)a china man who knew how to build a damn good board and used gold from turkey and diamonds from sierra Leone and could make the same quality board it would cost 20 times less! And that's a fact! Here is another cheap low quality material site: http://www.skibuilders.com/howto/skicon/materials.shtml
