So, digging out this old thread...
I was following the discussion here, and didn'T say anything to the "metaldiscussion" because one thing was true: You can't judge without having been on both!
Now after, as some of you might know, I've destroyed my beloved 5 year old Cyborg (stiff and springy) somewhere "offpiste" at SES, I needed a replacement and one thing was for sure: a Cyborg! But now after having seen Ray's metal version (see "Virus Teaser"), I was wondering, if I should get one too. But I didn't know, how metal feels and rides, and this was more important than how it looks. Well, after talking to Ray and Bordy (thanks for your help guys), in the end I ordered the matel version, hearing myself on the phone: " well doesn't matter how metal behaves, as long as it looks as great!"
Ok, one week ago, I did my first runs with it and it is great! I did ask for something aggressive, don't like something too much of dampening, as metal is suppoesed to be. I want something jumpy  and Frank did a great job with it! (Thanks here again!). But in addition to that, the ride was in the beginning kind of weird: the sounds it made was reminding me of the metal in it (some kind of loud "metal scratching", never heard anything like that on a Snowboard before), and then the good edgehold everywhere, like with the very soft Cyborgs, I've tried once... just amazing.
So to sum up: I was afraid, that it won't be possible to get any new board that would be as great as my old was! But the new one is so
much better, I don't know for sure, what's the reason for that (if its the metal, or some other stuff in it or just me ;) ), but one thing is for sure: the improvement, within 5 years even, on one shape is just great!
Hope this answers a bit the question on how much better newer boards are, I think they are much better! :D
