  1. I'm a tall guy (6'7") so I have my width all the forward and all the way back. Q1: How do you measure the stance width? From middle of front binding to middle of rear binding? Which would be the kingpin on my cateks in this particular case. My rear binding has the toe at the edge, but there is still room for the heel, it is behind the edge. My front binding has both toe and heel at the edges. Q2: Should I play with moving the toe and heel bails on the binding, until they are centered on the board rather than the binding? Thus allowing me to decrease my angle...maybe... I have yet to have this problem any of my other decks. Albeit my 2nd skinniest deck is 19cm... Thanks!
  2. 99% ? It was "1918" to 5....hum. Who orchestrated that one? A Yanks or Sox fan?
  3. Anyone out there ride with a rear binding steeper than the front? Until I got my Donek, 17.5 waist, all of my front bindings have been steeper than my rears, now it is the opposite on this one board...60* front, ~64* rear... Any thoughts?
  4. Or play checkers on-line... http://www.celebritycheckers.com/go-sox/
  5. I believe this was one of your backup boards...showns no signs of seeing snow, but you can see that some bindings were mounted. I look forward to riding it, although my mondo size 31 boots on it's 17.5 waist are going to make it feel like a slalom waterski! I will put the cateks on it...
  6. Yankee hater...sorry...stupid me...
  7. OK, I have to plead ignorance now...ncermak, can you explain your avatar? I haven't seen that yet...
  8. I second favoring the square drive...everything on my boat is square drive, very difficult to strip...
  9. ncermak, did you edit your original post to include the "who do you want to win?" Or am I losing it and just missed it? It's fun living outside of Hartford, CT at times like this. I think I live right on the boarder of where Sox and Yanks fans meet...A couple of miles in either direction and the table turns big time!
  10. Is this a who do we think will win poll or a who do we want to win poll? For me, it would be dependant on the question...
  11. Ok, so I just got my new ride and I need to decide which bindings to put on which deck... Board #1: Heavy Tools 173cm x 19cm x 9m, appx. 8.0+ stiffness (Donek scale) Board #2: Donek Tucker GS 186cm x 17.5cm x 15m, 9.6 stiffness (Donek index) Binding #1: TD1s, 2 x 0,3,6 cants, 4 x 3 different bumpers (soon to be SIs) Binding #2: Catek Olympic SIs (won at ECES '04!) Any suggestions on which bindings to put on which board? Based on the flex of the board versus the binding? Or, the sidecut? Or, the binding angles? My gut says TD1s on the HT173 and the Donek gets the Cateks...but please give me your opinions...
  12. WillyWhit, yeah they are Snowpros but they are getting replaced with some used TD1 SIs this year. You would be impressed with some of the wines I have down there. Too bad I only have a bottle or two of most, rather than cases...but some of the tasty ones are... 1995 Brunello di Montalcino 1996 Mount Veeder Cab 1996 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cab 1996 Cyrus Blend 1997 Duckhorn Merlot Some really good tasters, at outstanding values... 1997 Estencia Cab 1999 Forest Glen Merlot 2000 Casa Lapostolle Merlot (Chile)
  13. Jack, that was me at ECES with it, but no one had any solid knowledge about the board. Geoff figured out the name right after ECES, and obviously Willy Whit just did. I was hoping some West Coasters or some folks from the other side of the big pond would know... From what I have gathered it is: Heavy Tools Lizard 173cm length 19cm waist 9m sidecut But has anyone ridden one? Or know of the quality of the board, or any other info? Were they popular? I am a relatively new carver and would like to know if this board is something decent... How about a country of origin? All in all, I guess it doesn't really matter, because to me its a fun board, and can turn in the NE crowds...just curious about it though... Yes WillyWhit, that is some of my wine stash, and it is climate controlled by being in my basement...
  14. My 173 has the Melhuse sticker also...
  15. Nils, what year is that throttle you posted a pic of (R159)? I have a R173, that looks identical to yours. And I know nothing about it. It is the 1st carving deck I bought (used)... And any idea on the specs of the boards?
  16. Mike, The site looks great! What is your average turn around time on typical tunes for a carving deck? I have 4 boards I want to bring up to you from the Hartford, CT area...
  17. I have an idea of what it might be, but I want to see if anyone knows for sure. I believe it's length is 173... And if you have ridden one, what did you think? I'll post what I believe it is, after some others try to figure it out...
  18. Donek 186 Tucker GS...en route... TD1 SI Retro Kit...not ordered yet...
  19. Some guys I know, have been lucky enough to recieve a watch from their future wives...sometimes in return for the ring, and sometimes as a wedding gift...these have ranged from $900 to over $10k... Rolex Cartier Baume & Mercier Tags Patek Philippe All my wife gave me was her unconditional love, and now a beautiful baby girl! I don't need anything more...it's funny how life changes after getting married, and then it changes again with the first child...changes for the better that is...
  20. Well...I am 6'7", and have size 14/15 foot. Follow bombers measurement guide: http://www.bomberonline.com/store/boots/fitting_liners.pdf I end up between a 30 and 31. I am guessing your friend will end up around a 33/34. He may have to go with a ski boot. Or to a good boot fitter who can expand a 31.5 shell (Head Stratus Pro) up a bit and then get the liners compact enough...it may work...but I am no expert...
  21. Hey Michelle! If I calculate my mondo boot size to be a 30.639 (12 1/16 * 2.54), do I still go down to a size 30? Or should I go up to a 31? I am currently riding some Burton Winds that seem a little "soft" to me. I guess my height and weight are pushing their limits (6'7", ~245#s). If I were to buy new boots, what would you recommend for my body size, and an intermediate carving ability? Thanks! Ben
  22. I hit the email button on your post and I assume it got sent via your profile's email. I will retype it and send it momentarily...
  23. Too soft for me, unless the price is right :D I weigh in around 245# or so... Check your email anyway...
  24. I sent you an email... What is the stiffness index on that particular deck? Is it the 9.4 one?
