  1. anything made with this stuff. http://www.schoeller-textiles.com/pdf/protection_keprotec_e.pdf I've had my last pair of hotfingers with this stuff for 6 years and the only hole is where I dropped it in a campfire. My hunting gloves don't hold up because of the soft cloth, but they are definitely warmer :)

I'm interested, but don't have the funds at this time. I know its a longshot, but if you have the board in another month(tax return time) I'd definitely be looking at it.
  3. I wasn't going to say anything either becuase of the troll wars implications, but because Kent already did,.....Ditto what he said. It looks to me in the picture that you have way more rotation than you need to initiate the turn, and it may be causing a number of problems down the kinetic chain from your hips to your ankles. I'll explain in more detail what I mean if you want me too. Remember, its only a suggestion based upon static pics of 1 turn. To really get good advice you'd need to post some video somewhere, or ride with someone because a snapshot doesn't usually tell you enough information to make a really good diagnosis.
  4. Sorry to hear about the loss Ben. This summer I had someone walk into my backyard(fenced), unlock the door on my dog run, lure my dog outside with hotpocketsw(found the wrappers on the steps to the run and partially eaten ones in it), ands then steal my dog. He was 3 years old and my son's and families best friend. I found the footprionts in the mud of the yard and called the police, but unfortunately they did little to help. I know the feeling of being violated will never quite go away, but Idid build a 7 ft tall privacy fence to replace the chainlink and installed motion sensor lights, but that won't replace the dog. I still get mad and sad whenever I think about it, but its been 6 months now and the feelings aren't quite as strong. I hope you will get over it as well, but I'm sure you will carry a little around forever. The worst part is not feeling that I can trust my neighborhood anymore, and I don't think there is much that can be done to help that. I am glad to hear that evryone is okay, and good luck with the healing. Brett
  5. HEy NMU, Forgot to post it, but there were 5 of us up there Dec. 11-12. Right before the big dump Doh! One of the guys stayed behind and called my cell phone to brag up the 25 inches overnight and the 2 lift tix sold at Whitecap that day. Anyway, next time we get a group going up- there I'll post. We'll probably try Marquette next time.
  6. We can accomplish the same test that Randy proposes at our hill as I know John and the guy he's talking about. I can also be the sober guy who objectively looks at the riding skills of the each. That said, I know that the times I have smoked I am a useless pile of S**t and can't concentrate on anything so I would argue that like many things it can affect people differently. If I smoke I'm not a danger to anyone because I'm sitting in a corner somewhere laughing at nothing and trying real hard not to fall asleep
  7. Put my TD2's on my Atomic Don freeride board this year. So far so good, and I don't notice any extra stress on the inserts so far. I also rode it hard in my softie step ins and don't put quite as much pressure into the turns with my hard boots. This is a really stiff board to begin with though so it takes a ton to flex it. Will let you know if I have any insert problems.
  8. 6 Years in plates........8 years on softies before that, although some of those years were on an old PJ :)
  9. AS a former skier who spent most of the day in the moguls, I decided that I was going to get good at the moguls on my board since no one said it could be done. I started out on a total freestyle setup(Burtoim Custom Air, Airwalk boots) and learned some technique. Now I ride hardboots for everything. I don't find the boots to be a limiting factor, but the board definitely makes a difference. I use a 165 Atomic Don as my all mountain board and it does great. Both my slalom board and GS board do not work very well. Its not so much the stiffness of the board as the flex pattern that I find wrong. It is defnitely nice to have a soft tip and tail and an overall even flex. I also find that the longer boards do get "hung up" between moguls, especially if they are lVW sized. This is bad for the same reason you don't take race skis in the moguls...you don't want to bend them. To qualify this...I love to ride the moguls, and spend a lot of time in them. Especially on our annual guys only trip to Copper where I'm the only boarder in the group and everyone has 40+ years on skis. I spend the whole day following them through the mogul fields and steepsd and they are still trying to find a place where they can lose me. Its especially fun when we get a pow day and then the skiers can't keep up. The biggest thing to riding moguls is practice, practice, practice. Once you get the technique down, you can ride a nice weaving line, or take the zipper route the skiers do. Just be sure that if you get bounced out of your line you have enough flexion, and balance to pick it right up in the new line.
  10. HEllo Enny, I ride with Tim who posted in your other thread, and there is a large contingent of hardbooters at our home hill near Madison, WI. We all race in NASTAR handicapped leagues and USASA and are always willing to help out new people. I have also been an instructor for just over 10 years as well. I'm sure we're not near as qualified as a lot of the hard core racers on this site, but we are constantly reviewing our own and each others riding so we should be able to help you out. If you ever get down this way we ride at Tyrol Basin and if you e-mail or post here I'm sure someone will ride with you for a weekend. Brett
  11. Hello all, I know some of you posted that you have made the intec pull longer by putting a "clip" in the handle with an extra length of string or cord. I was looking at my handles and trying to envision what type of clip I could buy or fabricate to make this mod and was having a hard time visualizing it. Could anyone give a more detailed description of what they have done? Thank you.
  12. If I ever caught one of my instructors being that irresponsible I'd fire them in a minute. Everybody and especially instructors should Know THe Code...specifically look uphill before you start or merge, and be aware of your surroundings. Its a sad story and it puts a black eye on instructors as well.
  13. I am no where near a pro level racer so this is only what I noticed in my racing in USASA and local leagues for the last 6 years. I actually do prefer the softer boot, TD2 combo. I started out using my ultra stiff Lange race series ski boots way back in the day and often over-powered my bindings and bent the bails(no failures though). I then got raichle 223's and added a fourth buckle. At first they were sooooooo much softer than my ski boots that I was really sloppy. Once I figured out the different flex pattern and adjusted my riding style accordingly I found that the whole system had too much play for my tastes. I got a pair of TD 1's and all of a sudden I had too much response, but prefered it over the Burton's I was using. Rode those for 3 years and now that I''ve had a season in the TD2's and played around with the different elastomers I really love the feel of the soft ring. I like to feel a solid interface between me an my board, and I like to let my ankles/boots take up the bouncing. I can flex the boots an unbelievable amount, but that doesn't bother me because that is the feel that I like. So, I really like the solid feel of the binding, but the e-ring does a good job of not transferring too much to my legs with the exception of the bone jarring ruts, damn skiers taking the wrong line in the local league :) , which mostly need to be taken up with the legs anyway. Most of the other racers I race with get the stiffest boots they can. I've tried them (only for periods of a day at a time) and I haven't found the need to get a stiffer boot, but maybe it would be better. What I think it probably boils to, is what each person gets comfortable with. Who knows...maybe in 5 years more racers will be on Bombers or Cateks, and maybe not. All I know is that for my riding style they work fine for me and I haven't run into many amateur racers who I can't hang with. I have no doubt that the pros would spank me though.
  14. Hey there, If no one has bought this board, I'll take it. You can e-mail me at bnemke@tds.net to work out the payment and shipment details. Thanks.
  15. The only time I've ever broken anything snowsport wise was when I switched from old Burton step-ins to TD1s. First day in the race course(beer league) after switching I pulled my front binding along with 2 inserts off the board on a hard initiation of a heelside turn at a comeback gate. Realized that I didn't need that much pressure on the TD's because they had a lot less give and it hasn't happened since. I also think that the fact the board I was riding was getting old and had been ridden hard had something to do with the insert failure.
  16. My buddy has listed his board in this thread so you may want to e-mail him direct http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?threadid=3397
  17. Sorry I didn't get replies to all of you, but the first guy who replied bought the board. Thanks.
  18. I have an older(not sure what year) Nidecker Proto Hans Rosch series board. It is 163cm and has a medium flex to it. Lots of camber, and great base but a lot of scratches on the topsheet. I will throw in an older pair of snowpro bindings as well. Grand Total $50 + shipping. If anyone wants pics or more specifics drop me an e-mail through the forums. Thanks, Brett
  19. Wish I could. I'll definitely post when our crew heads up to the UP. If you ever get down to the Madison area come ride with us at Tyrol Basin. We even have an NMU alum on our race team :)
  20. Thanks for the info guys. I have ridden this for 3 years and like it, but have found that now I don't like the way it finishes turns. When I shift my weight back through the control phase to the end of the turn it seems to want to let loose and gives me that "folding" feeling you can get with a soft nose. I love the dampness and the feel of the board on turn initiation and am riding other boards to see how the flex patttern in the tail compares. I wanted the stats to compare the dimensions as well. Thansk again...Bomber readers al;ways come through :)
  21. I have a 174 Nidecker GS Race Extreme board. with a yellow topsheet and black rubber pads in an x pattern over the binding inserts. I have not been able to find any info on the year Nidecker made this, or the stats on width and sidecut. I have been comparing a couple boards to come up with some custom stats based on what I like about each board. If you know where I can get the numbers, or if you have them please let me know. Thanks.:p
  22. Thanks Jack. I have gone through that thread and it was a good one. I was just seeing if anyone had any more drills out there, written a little more in depth. I guess I'll just have to expand on the concepts myself :D The powers that be are really pushing us hard to get it done(we've been working on it for over a year) and I'm swamped at my regular job right now so haven't been able to devote much time and I thought the people here would be a great resource.
  23. I'm surprised no one has any ideas. This really is for a good cause.
