  1. Yeah, Brent smoked me for a long time too. Now, he Tim and I run about even. Sometimes I win, sometimes he wins, etc. Makes it fun. He missed Badger last year which was too bad. We had a good time there 2 years ago. Be sure to give him crap about his bannana suit. As for the old married guy thing, it mostly has to do with kids and getting permission to go out. My son wanted to go to Tyrol and run gates so thats where we're headed Hopefully this Monday is Snowboard gates becasue I think we're first in the lineup this week. We always get better handicaps compared to the skiers when they do that. Oh, and if you're coming from Chicago, once you hit Madison Tyrol isn't any further than Cascade, just a differnt direction :)
  2. I know its a bad time for that. Iwill be there because Badger Games didn't work out for me this year....guess I won't be defending my gold Medal this year. Hopefully we can convince them to do more of the duals with snowboard panels. Are you by any chance on the Butt Busters?? I'm from Dead Sexy, and Tim, John and I took 1,2,3, last year at Badger Games, but decided not to go this year due to lack of competition and the fact that they wouldn't handicap the scores for us.....also Sunday really sux for an all-day event. Last years happened on a Saturday which makes it a lot easier for us old married guys to take the whole day off. Good Luck and represent :)
  3. If it refers to the post above, I think you misread it. He was asking if shipping would be another $50 on top of the $250. If it was a different offer, ignore me......just wanted to help avoid a flame war later due to a misunderstanding.
  4. Tyrol is going to set a dual GS for Nastar this weekend, with one set of gates regular, and one set with snowboard panles. Should make for qa lot of fun and some interesting head to head races. Starts at 10:30 am.
  5. I have a used 3- times ever slalom board that would suit someone your size if you are interested in a shorter turn radius. It is a Rossi race x-VAS and is in great condition as I bought it new in the wrapper and only used it 3 -times. I decided it wqas a bit too turny and soft for me, but I'm used to stiff gs boards. Let me know if you're interested as I'm sure it would be much less expensive than some of the other new boards.
  6. Will take offers on either board.......
  7. Being from the midwest, I am first and foremost a Beer Drinker, and that light yellow colored stuff that tastes like water doesn't count. I also worked my way through college as a tender and learned a ton about differnt drinks. Never acquired the Scotch taste, although its all a friend of mine will drink. I am especially fond of good Bourbon's with Bookers being at the top of my list(I gave all my groomsmen flask filled with it at the cermony, made for a un ride to the reception). When it comes to mixed drinks I am a Wisconsin boy at heart and love Brandy Old Fashioned's and Manhattans. Not many people outside WI know how to make one, or carry decent Brandy, but they are yummy. Especiallyu ought to learn the difference between sweet, sour, press, and perfect. Sounds like a decent school you're going through. Wait until you get to the wines.....can be a lot of fun, but often times people think thjey know more about them than they really do. I worked in a wine bar for 5 years part-tiume after college and itr always amazed me what people would say to their frioends to make it look like they knew what they were talking about as far as wine went. Cheers :D
  8. HEy Greg, Glad you figured it out. I was at Copper From the 22nd to thwe 29th, too bad we missed each other. I also stopped at Bomber and met Kim and Fin, who gave us the tour and set me up with a great demo. They are defin itley a class act over there and will have my business for as long as they are in the business. Spent most of my time chasing my skiing buddies around the back side of the mountain, but the Moz was mone of the best cruiser runs at the end of the day when the legs are tired. If you gte out there again and want to try soimething steeper, Formidable is almost always groomed and no one seems to know its there so you can carve the whole width of the run. Cheers, Brett
  9. HEy all, I have a Rossi X-Vas 160 slalom board. I bought it new in the wrapper 3 years ago and have ridden it 3 times(once each season). It needs a home where it will get some use. Still looks like it was never used. $200+SH I also have an Atomic Don Freeride board at the 165 length. This is a directional freeride board that is plenty stiff and handled my TD2's well. Used heavily the first season, and then sparingly. Has some longitudinal scratches on the base that would come out with a base grind(has never been ground yet) but in otherwise great condition. $125+SH E-mail me if you want pics, or have an offer. I will try to post some pics soon. Thanks
  10. HEy guys, Glad to hear that everyone there had a good time. I know the handicap thing can throw people for a loop, especially at Tyrol. We have a very dedicated racing staff and they are also extremely fast. This makes it harder to get a decent handicap against them,as they also never "take a run off." The courses they set can be quite difficult for the size of the hill, and they are all great technical skiers so they tend to nail it every time when they paceset. I also know that some places don't always paceset with their actual pacesetter everytime so the handicaps can get skewed. I consistently run 5-7 handicap points better out west than I do here at my home hill, even when I nail the run here. It can be frustrating, but it always makes me feel good about my chances when I run against other people at different events becasue I know that it is damn hard to get a decent handicap here. This can be frustrating to people who have never ridden here, but it can also help with the copmpetitive spirit, as in " I wanna kick that pacesetters ass this week." I'll be at Copper this week, so won't make the races, but hopefully we'll be able to hook up at one of the events soon.\ Brett
  11. Hey Guys, I tried to make it out, but my niece's b-day party didn't get over until 4. I hope Tyrol treated you right, even if it is small. Let me know how the day went. Hopefully I'll catch you next time Matt, or maybe in MN. Brett
  12. Well, I just finalized my plans to go to Steamboat. I know for sure my dad will also be there to give Pat some competition in the "old guy" class, heheheh, just kidding guys. Also looks like there is a decent chance of at least 3 more guys from my team going out as well. I hope to see a bunch of Boarders there this season.
  13. '90 Burton Air 5.5 was the first board I rode, butI bought it and a Burton M6 at the same time back in 1990. I was a Burton whore :)
  14. Would love to join you again, but I'm going to Copper
  15. Actually, I have exchanged some e-mails with Michelle and definitely plan to stop by the shop. I would love to try a prior 4wd and/ or a Donek axis if you do demos as I am planning on getting a new all-around board that I can stick plates on. Right now I have my plates on my Atomic Don 167 for freeriding. I would also like to ride with some of the bunch, and Keystone is the only place I haven't ridden out there so thats another good excuse :)
  16. They will definitely be using snowboard gates. There is a good chance that the really young kids won't have any hardbotters in their division, b ut I can say from past experience that there have been some riders that are so good they push us hardbooters even on their softies. Tyrol tends to draw from a large area down here for these events so there may be some Illinois kids on hardboots, but you never know. If you guyus make it down I will try to come out and see you on Sunday, but its my niece's b-day so it might be tricky to get the needed permissions
  17. Anybody out there know the stats, specifically sidecut radius on the Rossi X-vas 160cm? I tried searching the net, but can never find any info on their race boards. Its the white one with the red and blue stripes down the sides. Thanks
  18. Well, I said it was pricey at $49 because most of my friends look for the free thning first and foremost. I actually paid $170 becasue I got the version that included the PCI firewire and punchout boards and has HD editing(only 720p and 1080i, no 1080p yet). If you already have the firewire port you can get the barebones software for $79 with a $30 mail in rebate.
  19. I just started editing videos myself on my computer. A friend gave me a copy of Pinnacle's Studio 7, and after trying it I went and bought the new version (Studio 10) at the store. Its a bit pricey, $49 after a rebate if you buy it before the end of Jan, but it is really powerful and easy to use. You can download from your video recorder in DV(avi) format, or directly in MPEG/MPEG2 if you want to save space. It is drag and drop for editing the entire movie, and that includes vid clips, stills, title scenes, music. Once done it gives you the option of saving it in any or multiple formats as well. I was advised to save it to the HD in avi format, but the current standard on DVD's is MPEG2 and it saves a ton of space and you can upload it or burn to DVD or CD at that point. Pretty cool stuff, but pricey.....however, I have about 20 hours of video of my kid that the wife wants on DVD so for me it will be worth it. Dang....must be typing with all thumbs today..had to do some serious editing :)
  20. Any chance you guys know if you'll be riding next week?
  21. I don't run USASA much anymore due to the cost, but I usually forerun the courses for the guys who set the gates. It is actually run by the same guys who do our NASTAR and Monday night leagues. They are skiers, but work very well with the boarders and set good courses. There has traditionally been a good turnout for these races, but most of the younger competitiors are on soft setups. The snow is average here, but the event should be fun. They will reset the snowboard gates for NASTAR once the USASA stuff is done as well and you can do unlimited runs for $10. Tyrol's team is good and dedicated, but they concentrate a lot on the freestyle events. The real young ones (under 13) are really starting to get interested in the racing. It's hard to say waht the competitoion will be like, but there are some great riders who will still be in soft setups.

Hello, Selling these for my dad. They are TD1-SI's with a 3 and 6 degree cant and red bumpers. They are in really good shape and he would like $150 + shipping, but will probably entertain offers. I will try to post some pictures tonight after I get home. You can e-mail me through this website. Thanks.
  23. I was super happy to hear what Phil said in his post. I have been in AASI for about 10 years(formerly PSIA). I would have to agree that it is very region dependant, which is unfortunate since it is supposed to be a standardizing otganization. The things you will learn are defintiely helpful, but be prepared for politics as you move up the ladder, at least here in the midwest region. 2 years ago I took the level 3 and passed the first day, even having the halfpipe as my lesson plan. The next day I damn near failed all of my riding skills becasue the examiner didn't like the fact that I was riding 32-29 on my soft rig setup. He said that I couldn't do any of the skills switch, even though I smoked him switch in the bumps and spun 360 frontside and backside switch off the big air jump. It turned out to be a bit of a personality conflict at that point since I was determined to show him up, and I admit that was a major mistake on my part. I actually switched to my gs board for the latter half of the day just to show him that it can be ridden everywhere, even the pipe, if you know how. It does seemthat since then they have gotten even more freestyle oriented whcih is in no way a bad thing. However, some of my friends recently took a level 2 and were told that they should all be riding duck stance now to make their switch riding easier. I would guess that htis is not happening out west. In the end, do it for the experience and the peices of knowledge you will gain from the clinics, but tread lightly and don't expect them to be real keen on new ideas or styles. Kudos to Phil and his examiners for being openminded about the process.
