  1. Holy crap, my mind's been blown! On another note, I'd ride it for a while as it is. It'll probably be a bit catchy at first, but once you start railing a bit on it it seems like it should flatten itself out. I tune my own gear (and my brother and sister-in-law's gear) and I don't think I've ever even seen a concave base, much less one that deep. If you do plan on tuning that out instead of trying to ride it flat, you're not going to be able to tune it flat yourself. Still, take my advice, or lack there-of, with a grain of salt... I've got a few drinks in me. Plus, even sober I'm sure that a bunch of people would contradict what I had to say.

    Oh hell yes!

Not Mr. T... Not the same...
  3. Don't try to lay out your turns, there's not enough time. Just drop your hips and try not to let it own you. Stick with cross-unders to keep it from tossing you off the trail.
  4. Blah. I went there because some friends were up from Muskegon and wanted to go there. It's got potential, that's for sure, but the day that we were there (sunday) it was cold and windy. I'm a little frustrated with it for things like having drop offs that weren't roped off or anything. I was carving along just fine and my board went off about a 6 inch drop into a river. Couldn't see it at all, just, boom, gone. With a little investment I would think that place could be a fine ski hill. A few trees to protect from wind-whipping the hill, some grooming and decent snowmaking. They could even open some short double blacks off the backside if they just put another lift in. I mean, hell, I love the golf course. They take great care of it. Wish they could make another 9 holes though.
  5. I believe the only thing holding the spacer in is the bail assembly and the little tang on the lower assembly. Just push the bail assembly to one side and you should be able to weasel the epad out and replace it. Then push the assembly the other way and do the same to that side. Fin seemed to say something like that on the "sidewinders unveiled" thread, unless I misunderstood.
  6. Personally I found soft and hardboot techniques to be very similar. I had almost no trouble making the transition, and I started out with ski boots on a rossi xvas (rat-traps DID make it more flexy). Perhaps you're trying to use your ankles to make changes instead of using your knees and hips. I'd open up the tech archives and go over "the norm" real quick again. When you do get it dialed in you're gonna be STOKED.
  7. wvrocks, I'm still interested if you could see what you have in your garage. Thanks ben
  8. Look up XLobby for the home automation. Also, my brother has a very nice whole house stereo from Russound. It has a 4-input audio distribution and then each room in the house has a keypad that can select between the inputs. Pair with IR repeaters (which are built in) and you can do all sorts of stuff.
  9. Thought I'd show off a new feature of my current house. It's pretty small so I needed something a little compact. shelves (2x): ~$12ea. Lumber to hold it all together: $0 (recycled from my house, would have ended up kindling) Snowboard Vice: ~$40 Total cost: ~$62 Having somewhere warm to take dings out of edges after nailing a few rocks at Steamboat? Priceless.
  10. What does she say about the skid marks???
  11. It could be done, but at the same time I think you'd be reducing efficiency. The more stuff you have in the system that isn't strictly heat storage, the more heat loss you'll get. Also, my brothers zero clearance fireplace is awesome for heating the livingroom and it's fairly quick at doing so, but it's terribly inefficient and he'd probably end up burning a cord before the tank temp even went up 5 degrees. And it would also take away from the heating of the livingroom. For ref., a fire needs to be made when the tank temp gets to about 115 (though it occasionally dips below 100) and he'll burn it hard to get the tank temp up to about 170-180 or so. Are you talking about control software for the heating? The furnace has it's own controls installed on it. The rest is just thermostats and circulating pumps.
  12. Probably a replys per page thing. I'd say default settings would put you at page 100, but if you have more replies per page then you'd have less. Angie, and others for that matter, anybody that would give you an ultimatum (on just about anything) isn't worth the hassle. I can't believe I'm saying things like that. Once I was stuck in a shelter with a guy I work with (for testing purposes, we needed to be locked in the container), he's unmarried and we were talking about the social climate in the area that we live. (We were talking about how there aren't any chicks in Cadillac.) This is shortly after I met Carol. So I said something to the effect of "It only takes one". Then I thought to myself, i can't believe I'm saying that, because not 2 months before, I was in the same position with the same feelings. Oh, just thought of another reason I love her... She does my laundry.
  13. I think the most unusual feature that I am going build into my house is the heating/water heating system. I'm buying a rather efficient wood boiler (HS Tarm) that both my dad and my brother have. Also needed is a large tank for storing water. It's not actually storing water as much as it is storing heat. My brother has a 1600 gallon insulated tank buried outside his basement wall. The water that runs through the boiler also runs through coils in the tank. The water that is in the tank never actually gets used, it's just storing heat. The domestic water runs through coils in the tank and the radiant floor heat water runs through seperate coils in the tank. There's a bunch of different valves and such so that the tank can be turned off and heat run directly from the boiler, the heat can be turned off, the domestic water, whatever configuration is needed at the time. For example, we recently went on an 8 day vacation, so my brother turned off the tank and turned on the propane backup in the boiler. Instead of the propane trying to heat the entire tank, it just heated the water for the radiant floor heat. It's a quite complicated system, but it works really well. In the summer my brother can make a fire, burn it hot and hard until it's down to embers (approx 4 hours) load it up again and do the same, basically about a day and maybe a half of doing that, then he and his wife can live off of the built up heat for about 3 weeks. IN the winter probably down to about 1 week. If the tank were insulated better it would be even more efficient. Ok, so maybe we're all a little too proud of this system. But I think that's about the only out of the ordinary thing for my house. Forced air sucks. I was also going to have a walkout basement. Probably put my projector downstairs and make a home theater. Definately goign to use snowboards as decoration. Also guitars, though i might leave those in my current house and use it as a man cave. edit: Ok, so the picture doesn't show, but it's cool. I'm not too keen on sending random people to my brothers gallery, so you'll just ahve to do without the picture. edit again: ok, so I noticed that it actually had the URL for the picture in the properties. So I just took the whole thing out. Sorry. edit one more time: Ok, so I'm trying to attach it. This time it shouldn't have any info on it. Lets see what happens.
  14. I'm not gonna lie. I think twittering is one of the most retarded things ever. Just the opinion of a lone skeptic here. I know people obviously love it, it's the hottest thing since furbys, but I don't see the point. I also don't text message unless I'm in a place where I couldn't possibly make audible conversation (ie, a real loud bar or the like).
  15. Well, I'd say it works out better this way. If she gave me an ultimatum; her or snowboarding, well... To say the least, I sure would miss her. But she doesn't mind me snowboarding (so far). And if she DID ski or snowboard, I'd feel obligated to stick with her instead of railing some turns. I mean, don't get me wrong, I WOULD stick with her, but the carve would definately be calling.
  16. I'm looking for the cable assembly that goes with the physics step-ins. Mine are still working, but they are in bad shape and sometimes don't work as well as I think they should. Does anybody know if intec/fintec heels use the same cable assembly? I know I can go to a bike shop and get close to the same thing, but I want to make sure I'm getting the right ends and such. Thanks for lookin. If I get a good deal, I might be interested in buying the whole heel assembly. Also if I were to get a good enough deal I might buy the bindings to match, but that would have to be a real good deal since I'm gonna start building a house pretty soon.
  17. I'm purely going for the 100th page. Ok, I guess I'll say that I've got a pretty steady girlfriend since last winter and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna start looking for an engagement ring. She's awesome. She's hot, she's got her own house and a steady job. She's got a black lab/golden retriever mix. Only problem is she doesn't like skiing or boarding. But she did give it a shot, so I guess I can't hold that against her. Hey, if I can do it, anybody can. Don't tell her I said that, she gets pissed at me when I talk about myself like that. Edit: Damn!
  18. If I've ever had a concusion it was a very mild one. I'd say the closest was snowboarding at school (college). Softboots. Took a jump with a bad take-off (the jump sucked, not me). Kicked my board out behind me, landed on my chin. It definately rung my bell. I was able to do a crab-like move to get down the hill (sliding down on my heelside with my ass close to the ground and hands walking myself down). That was the most out of it I've ever been. I've always been able to get back up and ride down, even if it was just go to hang out in the lodge for a while.

    269ft jump

NC is way better than jackass. There's a little more wow factor and a little less wtf factor. I mean, what is with the nailing somebody who's sleeping with a handful of flour? Now jumping a tandem bicycle or a golf cart... That's cool.

    Crystal Mtn.

So I went out to WY last week. Made it to steamboat. Managed to go there the day after a huge dump. I don't care what anybody says, powder beats all. A 350ft bump with wet and icy snow is just not the same as a mountain 10 times the size with hip-high champagne pow. Looks like I'm going to Caberfae at some point this weekend, a couple friends from Muskegon are coming up. None of them are carvers. But I think I'll still make it to Crystal one day, and I definately want to get my XVas out, and possibly try to ace Buck on my SL board.
  21. What are the specs of the board? It looks like a rather long scr.
  22. Man, talk about reviving a dead thread. You know what the difference is between a (insert woodwind instrument here) and a trampoline? You take your shoes off to jump on a trampoline. I started out playing trumpet. Coronet actually, but to most people, same dif. Played that for a couple years, then they needed somebody to play lower. So I stared playing Baritone. I quit (highschool) band so I could take physics and chem2 and **** my senior year and actually have a chance in college. The superintendent pleaded for me to come back to the band. Sometime in highschool too I picked up a bass at a pawn shop for cheap. I learned how to fiddle around with it alright. Pretty fun. I also fiddled with guitars while learning bass, so I kind of know how to play that. I finally picked up an epiphone sg a year or so ago. Also over the years I've picked up a cheap (really really cheap, as in the case it came in is worth twice what the instrument is worth) violin and a cheap (from Musicians Friend) mandolin. I don't really play the mandolin or violin. I also play harmonica. I don't rail on it or anything, but I'd say I'm proficient. Play: Guitar, Bass, Harmonica, I'll even say baritone horn Quiver: Cheap Bass, Cheap Violin, Cheap Mandolin, Halfway Cheap Guitar, Couple cheap Harmonicas Want: Whatever musical instruments I can get my hands on. Especially Upright Bass, Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty guitar (seriously, has anybody seen that thing? It's gorgeous!) Piano, etc.
  23. I'm to cheap (and anti-ianything) to have an iphone. But I was planning on bringing my garmin nuvi to give general information. Top speed, trip distance, etc.
