  1. Does anyone have a new pair of Fintec heals they want to sell? I picked up a new set of step ins just before the Bomber Store crash and didn't get the heals.
  2. Looks like I am late to the party, but hey, at least there is a party! I was sent some nice black TD step-ins back in September, but don’t have the Fintecs for them. Can’t wait for the store to reopen.
  3. Are those Sidewinders mounted directly to the Sigi Deck?
  4. I had that issue and used to study the half pipe images and try to figure out how to do a hand plant. Of course I knew I was more of an Alpine guy when I took in hard in the chin on one attempt. I was 17 and had ridden for 4 seasons by then. In one of those issues there was a photo of Damian Sanders riding an Avalanche board in hard boots [Koflach?] and flipping out the end of a half pipe. Amazing! Of course my next set of boots were Koflach, but I never had the guts to flip out of the halfpipe.... sj
  5. I know it is late in the season, but I just got this ride from Donek. 177 Metal AX with PTex top sheet. Yeehaw.
  6. I just had Donek make me a modified 177 Metal Ax at 23cm wide that is my new go to board. It floats really well in powder due to the reverse camber, slight taper and binding setback. I've also ridden it through bump fields and off cornices too and it handles them quite well. The board carves extremely well is a lot more lively than I expected. As a matter of fact it consistently launches me in the air coming out of toe side turns---Yehaww! It has the pop of my F2s with much grippier edges. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is how to keep the back end in when doing EC turns on hard snow, but this is surely operator error and I'll adapt my body position one of these days. I had Sean put a PTex topsheet on it as well - I love this board:1luvu:
  7. Spring break is later in April. When spring arrives, the locals start golfing and biking and the slopes open up. I'd recommend staying in the valley. If you like Apres' Ski there are a number of hotels downtown such as the Peery Hotel, Crystal Inn, Hilton, Monaco, Marriot etc, that are right in the middle of the dining scene. From here you can get to Snowbird, Solitude, Brighton, Park City, Canyons, and Snowbasin in 30 - 45 minutes. If you want to stay in the mountains, there are plenty of options. This time of the season, Snowbird and Solitude (perhaps Park City) also have hotel and pass deals such as room and ticket for $99 per person. The snow is excellent now with bases averaging near 120". This week's forecast is snow every day. March does tend to be a snowy month. You'll find the most consistent groomers at Solitude and Park City, although the other resorts are splendid. Pick up discount tickets at the ski rental spots in town such as Canyon Sports or go to Costco as well. Enjoy.
  8. It's still February and we almost to 500" in the Cottonwoods. Over 5' of new snow this week. March is generally the snowiest month, but then again, there was the 100" May a few years ago... You know why there are not too many people on here saying come to Utah, don't you? We like the lines short. When you fly into SLC, you are 30 minutes from everywhere;-)
  9. I just noticed they Bomber is out for the season.... Anyone have a spare set?
  10. I'd take it if it were the 187W. But alas.....
  11. I went to Surefoot and had an orthotic and injected Conformable liner made. These are incredible. They grab your ankles and hold them in place. I'm going on 4 years with these and they are just as good as they were on day 1.
  12. Hmmm... I kind of knew I was asking a dumb question when I wrote this post. I'll call Bruce and see what he thinks. What I'd really like is a metal board for bombing on the groom, EC when it hits 40 deg, slicing though the chop, dropping into a chute, face shots in the pow, and hitting the bumps. I know that is a tall order, but I just described 1 run from the tram at Snowbird. Do you ever feel like alpine riding is a lot like golf? Perhaps all I need is a board caddy to follow me around with my quiver. "Here you are sir, ride this one for the next 300 yards."
  13. What do we know about the Coiler Monster? Is it a titanal all mountain board? Is it a NS tapered shape or variable radius? I'm looking for a rugged all mountain board to ride on and off piste when the groom is worn out. I'm not looking for the taper of a NSR or FLC. Does this fit the bill? Thanks for any help, Stephen J
  14. I threw the Sidewinders on my powder board this last weekend. (The Wasatch got 6' of fluff last week). The combo of BTS and SW make for a viable solution soft board. The ride was very comfortable and the boots did not over power the board.
