  1. Coiler pure race 186 23 cm waist width 15 scr Very good shape with minor dings and a small scratch on the base. Big enough ? $300 shipped for the board (without bindings) I can send more detailed pics.
  2. The SW's ride feel is very similar to F2 ti bindings, and maybe not as flexy as burtons. You might consider that the preloading is nothing more than having a bit of movement in the setup, 2 different ways of achieving the same thing. As several people have mentioned not everyone will like the feel of the SW's. For me having more flexibility with bomber construction is a win-win.
  3. I think the effect you describe is real, the question i think is does it matter that much ? A parallel issue would be riding skinny Vs. wider boards. If edge to edge speed was all important racers would be riding the skinniest boards possible. Seems with the boards getting fatter they have either found ways to compensate or maybe it didn't matter much in the first place. I like it soft, you might feel otherwise.
  4. While they retool health care, here's some entertainment, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2scxJNXjMI
  5. Just got home from my 2nd day on these beauties. I weigh in at 170 lbs. Stance is 19.5 inches with 55 degrees front and 50 degrees back. Board is a 188 coiler monster 23 cm waist width. I have been riding F2 titanium standards for the past 2 seasons and had Td1 Si's before that. As everyone had mentioned the binding construction and finish lives up to the standards we have come to expect from bomber. Installation was easy and i started out with the yellow elastomers. The ride was buttery smooth, conditons here have been pretty good so i can't tell very well if the dampening is better than the F2's. Anyone who likes the flexiblity of the F2's is not going to be disappointed with the sidewinders. The SW's were also quite a bit taller than anything else i have ridden but it did not seem to matter when i started riding. This version delivers , kudos to Fin
  6. Hi Scott, There's usually a few of us around at Mt. Rose, give us a shout when you feel like coming up.
  7. Could the picture be misleading since the e-pads are missing ? I'm getting mine soon, will let you know if there is any weird steering feel.
  8. I had a pair, support was non-existent. I think latter day soft boots are better. Used it for a day and that was it for me.
  9. I got one of the first generation cateks way back when, after years of riding soft ( supple?) burtons all those years it was a lot to get used to. Stayed with the hard interface ( td1's) and then even harder with intecs. I don't remember at the time if i really liked the harder feel of the td's or whether i was just so jazzed with the industrial strength bindings. The burtons quickly fell out of favor even though i never broke one. I switched back to F2's a couple of years ago and and much happier with the feel. Wish i hadn't sold all those old burtons :p I can see the point that Bordy's requirements for a binding would be different from a recreational carver ( EC'er ?) But seriously, enough of you guys have ridden with him . Does ability buy any credibility these days ? Maybe all these racers riding icy rutted out race courses at speeds we can only dream about are wrong eh?
  10. +1 If you haven't ridden a metal board this is the best of both worlds, 2 + meters and metal. what's not to like ? I had a 2 meter standard construction donek so am no stranger to big boards, the silly good won't dissapoint you.
  11. There are a lot of very nice places in the foothills of Reno if you want to be close to the biggest little city. In the tahoe basin you might also want to check out Stateline and Zephyr Cove. If you come around don't hesitate to contact me , be glad to play tour guide.
  12. You should have spent more time studying ballistics, instead of watching movies eh ? You want to live like sheep that's your business. Waitaminute, New Zealand you say?
  13. About 10 years ago in my neck of the woods an old man confronted 2 guys who were burglarizing his neighbors car. The 2 perps ended up getting a couple of shotgun blasts as they were RUNNING AWAY from the scene. DA refused to charge the shooter, wild wild west indeed.

  16. Crap !! What am i gonna do with the bomber decapitator i have on order ? http://www.bomberonline.com/articles/Decapitator.cfm
  17. Hi Folks, I am kinda curious about the plate mounting systems and how they work with the board, i checked out the vist plate at ses and can kinda see how it works. My big question is are the boards built with plate use in mind? In particular does the stiffness or flex pattern different than a non plate board?
  18. I have a vision of the future where there are no more alpine board companies in business because most of us were too in love with the past to support them. What are you gonna do when every last hot logical and madd is finally nothing but dust ? Buy something new once in a while and consider it an investment in our collective alpine future. R&D costs to develop metal couldn't have been cheap, ask prior and yet they stuck with it after what appears to have been a ruinous first generation. No one is being forced to get with the times, but if you think you " RIP " on your pj riding your totally rad iced out 200 vertical foot hill you might have something else coming. Prove yourself on the racecourse or pay respects to those who do. In the end whatever you think of racing and racers it's the friuts of their labor that brought us all this cool stuff. Have a discussion about board technology long enough and someone will say " just go out and ride what you like maaan " what kind of mating call is this? Don't have to love the messenger or the way it's presented, still ought to pay attention.
  19. You should get white mitts, Mickey Mouse rides alpine !!.
  20. I am totally disgusted with the latter day GOP,the " party of small government and free markets" is as responsible for the current mess as anybody. Funny how only when they are a minority in congress do they become fiscal hawks. They had all the power and squandered it all.
  21. Does anything happen in a vacuum? Of course one thing has something to do with the other, the ratio will vary with your ability. This poll is to say the least "funny" Don't see how quantifying this is in any way useful, on the other hand it gives people a chance to say how badass they are on ice:lurk: Season must be winding down for you, on the other hand we just got 3 feet of snow. yeehaaaa!!!
  22. I could have told you all this stuff at SES but you never asked.
  23. For a dedicated groomer board it's a no brainer , for all around use i would wait a while.I know people who have just gotten metal AM type boards, hopefully we'l get some feedback soon. You can get good pop off the board if you shift your weight back to the tail before you transition, i guess riding a more demanding older board is akin to driving an older sports car without all the fancy suspension and active systems eh?

    BX bindings

Does anyone know what types and brands of soft boot bindings are most used by boardercross competitors ?
