  2. ITEM NO LONGER AVAILABLE. I have a set of Burton hardboot plate bindings. They have the 3 hole center disk in them. they were given to me by a friend who rides, but no longer is a hardbooter (he is an old and grey tired man now LOL) . they are old like I said, but are still useable, or are good for parts. The base is maroon color. I have no idea the model. I do not use Burton boards. anyone wants them, LMK. No charge, but if you could swing me a few bux to cover shipping that would be swell. EDIT: ITEM IS TAKEN. Thankyou for reading :)
  3. I started out not wearing a helmet. I've taken a few spills in my day. as I got more and more agressive as a rider, I started to wear one back when no one was wearing them and got "laughed at"..... ( Untill I went big off jumps and chit and then the people shut up) I was racing one day in some time trials up at Mt. Snow for the 2000 X games to get in as a local boarder in some of the preliminary rounds and hope to make it to the finals with the national boys. I took a massive dump when I caught an edge and flew nearly 20 feet in the air then slammed down hard, and slid about 30 more feet. I knocked myself out cold for 40 seconds to the point that I pissed myself and shat in my pants. When I came to, I had a mild concussion, and looked at my helmet that I had taken off at that point. The helmet had the nastiest crack and rock gouge I had ever seen ! THe helmet had a crack that ran down the entire side of it. That could have been my head. Luckily the onlything that was spilled that day was urine and crap.... not blood and grey matter. When I ride now, I ride with a helmet and strongly suggest others do also. In Lessons, It is REQUIRED for riders under the age of 14 have a helmet, and I try to get "clumsy" adults (read as OMG HUMAN MISSLE/ Wiped-out Obsticle in the snow to avoid) to go get one also if at the end of the lesson they want to continue trying to ride. THIS IS MY HELMET: A lot of people will remember it for years to come I hope. I have a few others, but I think the airbrush job on this one is some of my best "rush job" work.
  4. Olympic Gold and Silver and Bronze in sno-X was 2 softies and 1 hard thsi year in Torino. The thing with snoX is that hardboots limits your ability to ride in close quarters, OR to go switch (sometimes this saves your ass from a catastrophic wipeout) I've never throught about riding hardboots backwards.......... I'm crazy, not INSANE. Soft boots give you a better "wiggle room" for small adjustments that don't require a lot of leg and knee throw for movement like a hardboot set up would. Sure once all spaced out and gaps between racers are established, hardboots and an alpne board is faster, but not always the case. There were 2 other hardbooters that raced in the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge Finals up at Loon this year, and neither of them placed in the medal range for their age groups even though they were indeed "fast". AS to Bosquet, I was there for the Instructors run in the beginning of March. The 3/4 mile lift (*A) on the trail map I think is "Broadway" or something like that was icy under the loose granular surface, and was super difficult to take that hard left down from the chircane off the lift drop afte the gate. I went switch through it so I would come into it regular, and pulled it tight at the lower end of that turn, but the board totaly still came out from under me, and I managed to have the most spectacular "snowplow" snow spray plume of the day. I saved the gate, but wiped out turning right again as I got way to agressive trying to make up time on the ice. I took a second run ( it didn't count) and I nailed the course and even hit both those turns at nearly full speed. Gah, sometimes it is just the luck I guess, but then again, that is running gates, not doing whoopty-doos , rollers, tabletops, and drop ledges 8 men wide ;)
  5. I could have gone for level 1 this year, but once I red the fine print (...to retain levels of rank, you must cough up 100.00 a year to be paid for such....) EVERY YEAR ? ! I thought that was a bit insane and spendy for my needs. I'm going to do level 1 this year just to say I've done it. Perhaps level 2 next year. Switch riding is indeed tough, but then again, I ride agressive stance, so I literaly ride "backwards". I guess I'll just have to set up a board goofy and ducked out this winter and improve enough so I can cruise steeps switch.
  6. DaveESPI Ponders this statement. DaveESPI Surmises: ".... no, not really. DaveESPI Retorts: "Pipe down ya 2 sticker !"
  7. I'm in. I'll hop to it. Any restrictions ?
  8. awesome ! I'll ask if we can do this at jiminypeak sometime.... LOL.
  9. HEAD bought out OXYGEN right ? Or was that Vokel ?
  10. I decided I like the reviews and features of the Head Stratus Pro boots best. ...... Well, here is the problem. No local places sell these boots within a 100 mile distance (that I know of) and I really REALLY would like to try them on before dropping 500.00 on a brand new pair that has to be "special ordered" ( read as NO RETURNS) at any of the local ski shops (customer service is first.... my ass!) that carry Head. Anyone have a pair I can borrow to try for fit that are used or fairly brand new that they would like to sell for a decent price ? I'd be able to give you a deposit on the boots, and pay shipping on them. I'm a size 12, or a 13 depending on how boots run. I have a narrow foot, and am slim, so I don't have "fat foot" issues as many do with hardboots. Anyone Close to Albany NY that is the same size and I could try them on at your place ? LMK. Thanks.
  11. Am I the only one who saw this thread and thought of "HOTBOXING" as a referance to smoking a big fat blunt or fully packed bowl in a gondola ride up to a summit with like 20 minutes worth of time to rebreathe the smoke while sitting in the lift ? Not that I smoke anymore, but I found the thread title hilarious in such a way. As to Heating boards, I never cook my boards. I keep them at around 70 and often hang them upside down by rope or on my wall rack to keep them in shape. Wax ? meh, I don't know much about that aspect....... I just take it to the shop, and tell them "soft, mush, or hard surface for the kind of wax I want"
  12. so 2007 is Steamboat and Tahoe ? Gah... What about EAST COAST ?? !!! well, there is always the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge series..... ps: I took Second place at Jiminy peak this year, and Third in the Finals at LOON MTN. April 1 weekend in the 26-35 Male Boarders catagory despite a major near wipeout that cost me (potential) Firstplace finish due to ice and over compensation for edge that gave under my backfoot, but I still was perfect enough in the top of the course to nail down a place. Damn... I'd love to qualify for Nationals.... but how ? !
  13. I'd actualy just love to know where on the eastcoast we can compete in such competitions since I did Boardercross back in the day (early X-GAMES pre-ESPN TV prime-time stuff) at Mount Snow, VT in '96 or so. I think that it should be "soft boot-ONLY". You can ride any board you want, but must have open bindings. Any Boots ? any Bindings ? ...... just not the same with hardboots. * sorry guys Just my opinion
  14. I'm on Chat programs as : AIM= DaveESPI Yahoo= Masterbetta1 and you are all on ?????? * add yourself for a master screenname/ chat list.
  15. Added myself to the group :) Cool feature. Saddly, no one is in it.
  16. May 13th is the "summer picnic" for instructors and mountain crew at Jiminy. I'll take pics of it as it is coming along in construction :) I look forward to the lift ride to the top, and ripping a few trails on my mountain bike also that day :) I bet LEFT BANK is killer in teh summer
  17. Trance, Techno, Ambient groves, Anything with a good beat in one ear, ....and the wind whistling in the other inside my helmet. Always a good idea to ride with one ear open...... this way when I'm passing you, you can hear me calling " ON YOUR LEFT !"
  18. On my local home turf, there is a few "bad form" riders in hardboots, but they are still "good" boarders in the aspect that they are doing it. There is also quite a few "awesome" hardbooters who were there early in March ( and actualy turned me onto this site while having a conversation on the lift ) who were phenominaly good and I rode with them for a few runs. I was on my regular snowboard, but since I ride agressive stance, I still can carve quite angular and take on the steeps with a similar ride stance and weight transfer instead of relying on my feet as most of it is upperbody motion in leans. I hope to be good enough to "teach" hardboot this winter... time will tell.
  19. See, I kinda think of it like this: Anyone can soft boot ride............... It takes a special person to simply "let go" and have gravity and leaning with faith in ones skill to become a hardboot carver and have "Agressive stance" on a snowboard. Actualy, I rather like being "eletist" about being a "carver" :D Sure the "more the merrier", but it is quite uncommon to see hardboots and one plank hitting the hill.
  20. POW, they are indeed putting in a "Mountain Coaster". One of only 2 in the USA It will be a larger scaled version and faster of an alpine slide.
  21. Well, I picked up my new ride for next season. It is a 2004 season Airwalk Force 57 ( 156 actual useable edge). Picked it up off of e-bay for less than 50.00 American. MINT MINT oh my CHERRY MINT ! http://i20.ebayimg.com/03/i/06/8c/67/00_1_b.JPG 'cept it is not Red / Black as pic shows.... it is Green / Gold. Not quite sure how I feel about that as I wanted the R/B deck color. 450.00 board fer 50.00... meh, I can't complain :D
  22. I'm on about 20 or 30 various forums.Boarding comes up on occasion :)
  23. I looked through my catalogs. I'm mistaken. The little pic I saw and remembered was a normal board with a similar graphic. So to take back what I said before..... Ya got me swingin'
  24. all depends on the board design. Many of mine set 1/3rd in support with no load (weight) on them will sit quite nicely on my rack with no loss in "pop". A few I do hang upside down with heavy bindings on them, or angle then (such as my bud-light board) with smaller rack so as to not weigh them in center with droop.
  25. I'm a huge fan of Rozzi boards. that is indeed 2005-06 board.... BUT, Granted it is for the latter part of 2005 season, it is a 2005 board.
