  1. a bit more lead-time would have been good to post.......... I'da loved to ride with a bunch of you. ohwell. March should be softenig up nicely, so I hope to tear up the steeps with more than just a 1/2 inch of my board in the snow soon :D
  2. I've ridden in soft for years, and now in hard boots. I honestly could never give up the softboots entirely. it is a completely different style of riding and feel. After a few hours of hard boots, I'm tired and want to "die". Teaching lessons in hardboots is all but impossible with kids in soft gear also. We have to remember that hardbooting is a rarity. I was out on my carver sunday and inthe early AM it was great. once the hill got skied off, it was impossible to carve as there really was nothing to get an edge into cept shear ice.......... and well that just doesn't work. I switched back over to a nice comfortable softboot and a wide board 152 and had a blast the rest of the day. Proper tool for the Job ;) As to using hardboots on a free-ride board ? sure why not. I'd love to try a big mountain powder board with hardboots. I bet the feeling and control would be epic !
  3. OK, so we are going to FINALY get a blast of snow....... on Weds (V-Day) of hopefully 16 inches. Thursday morning I'd really like to hit da mountain for a few hours. Anyone want to go to Jiminy with me ? I'll get ya a 10.00 off lift ticket coupon, and give ya 10.00 fer gas if ya give my non-driving lame ass a ride out and back. It's only 32.3 miles away and will be the best ski/riding this year sofar for sure ! LMK. D.
  4. Had 2 hardbooters on the mountain Last Sunday. Monday, well, no one showed from Bomberswebsite, but a couple riders from a few other forums came. Had fun, but I was the only hardbooter, so I switched to the softboots. Going to try for Sunday March 4th as the next Jiminy meet up if anyone is interested. Cheers, Dave.
  5. I was riding at work the otherday, and saw a skier on snowblades. the bindings looked almost exactly like my Snow-Pro RACE plates. Can the boots be worn with the snowblades also ? Imean there really is not all that much difference in the boot cept the forward lean right > ?
  6. staying neutral and slightly forward at teh beginning and then bowing the board into a "U" and laying back a bit at teh end of a large sweeping turn while tweeking the front foot up away from the mountain initiating the next edge change seems to be what works for me.
  7. How big of ridges are those ? The cord around the North East is like 3 inches high 3 inches wide at MOST. Nothign I love more than hitting a nice run and "burping" the cord first thign int eh mornig.... ( When I actualy get up early enough to do it :D)

  9. You have to come down off a hill into a facing hill... as if you were in a 1/2 pipe and carve the turn that way. it's how I've done it a few times on my regular board in a "valley" of sorts. It totaly does mess with peoples minds when you do it in fresh groomed snow :D
  10. Silicone sex toy lubricant. Seriously. also, a COLD board won't let the snow stick... leave your board out in the cold, and wipe it with fresh snow, then wipe off the crystals just after you applied the silicone. it works great on my boards, but it could be your topsheet material also. I have a Ptek board that holds snow too, so I got some clear plastic and coated the deck, and now it's slick :D Rub-on hard bees / Board wax works too, but looks like hell.
  11. Considering how much of my ride space is constricted due to the narrow trails here in the eastcoast, I have the smaller board to allow me the ease of turning as I don't have room to chew up the real estate as on big mountains, but the airwalk is indeed fun for around 30 mph cruising. I've done in excess of 60 mph on my normal soft boot rossignol twin tip board, so I'm comfortable with smaller boards (under 157) and am really scared of what I will do in hardboots once on a 170+ and have the stability to go with the speed ( I'll die) lol . Considering I got the Airwalk brand new in mint condition for 100.00 I'm very happy with it :) As to body movement, do you guys tend to have "swing hips" and use your legs like a pendulum more, or initiate the turns with your shoulders and upper body with weight transference ? Or just really just focus on foot/ board tweek ?
  12. maybe I just need deeper snow ........ I'll see what I can do with tweeking it this weekend.
  13. Play hooky from work or school, and come hang ! Trying to get some boarders together for Monday Feb 5th. Figure on meeting at the Berkshire "6 pack" express at 10:00 am and 12:00 pm for anyone who wnats to meet up for some hardboot "Wolf-pack Mentality" cruising. LMK, Dave-
  14. Well, FINALY the conditions were better than they were in the past few weeks, so I decided to try out the new carve set up. My Airwalk Force 57 (157) flat tail carver and SnowPro RACE plates with Stratos Pro HEAD boots. It's a sweet set up so far. I started out with 45 degrees front foot and 33 back, and after 3 runs quickly changed it to 60 front and 45 back. I took a few more runs, then started to try "pushing it" with the leans..... wehalp, Call me superman, cause thats what I did down the face of Upper Fox when I went for a toeside lean and due to shallow snow and ice under it, the board did not hold edge and down I went, but it was fun anyway as the first time I tried really leaning onto the hill farther than a 45degree facing angle. I eased off on lower fox run at Jiminy Peak, and just enjoyed the rest of my trip to the bottom as I just did some nice lean/flex "S" all the way down to the baselodge where I moved to 75 degree front foot and 50 back. I also needed to move my forward flex on the back leg as it was pinching on my shin too much for my stance as it was. I think next I need to play a bit with the cants, but I'd really like one of the other local's who have been dioing hardboot for a while to suggest a ride stance and critique my style and how I can improve. I think I'm trying to ride toomuch like a frestyle carver rather than a ski-racer, and keep rotating my hips back to a neutral position rather than staying with my shoulders square to the front of the board.. is that bad ? Just need to find that comfort level, but I don't want to over adjust and compensate for bad technique or lack of stance and style of ride. Anyone want to go plow around at Jiminypeak this weekend/. or Monday ? LMK.
  15. D-sub, you have a bigger picture of that avatar of yours ? that chick looks hawt !
  16. So wait, if the earth flips, then the north pole becomes the south pole, and the entire planet rotates and at one point, Albany NY will actualy be the Equatorial like then a minute later will be in the southern hemisphere ? Pardon my geo-retardation, but isn't that impossible ? ir is it just a "magnetic" swap ?
  17. GahI got up at 7 am this morning to go to the mountain, but got 7 miles there and my cell rang and they said not to come in, and enjoy the day off (Monday as well). No need to have another dead body standing on the hill for 6 hours staring at the empty lift chairs and listening to the snowmelt. The 6 pack Berkshire express (BQE for short) didn't even service the top of the mountain today...... Only had 4 trails open and acessable by the slow assed double chair to the top of the (non existant) terrain park that was open as a trail only, and one of the 4 not even being the begiinner hill ! Times like these when I wish I hadn't given up drinking .... LOL.
  18. Barton that sucks. I'm a part timer this season. Lastyear I had 85 days of boarding... this year I have about 8.5 days. It's a good thing I am not reliant on my income from boarding to get my by, because I'd be broke a s a joke right now !
  19. TO ALL STAFF: FYI; Call or check the Jiminy peak website before you come this weekend to make sure the mountain is open. Probably will be open Saturday with limited trails, but iffy for Sunday and Monday. In any event, the mountain will be closing at 4:00 Saturday and Sunday. Next week's operations are reliant on the cooperation of mother nature at this time. More information to come as available. - Boarderboss. RAIN and WARM WEATHER SUCKS ! gah... I 'll NEVER get out on my carve board if this crap keeps up. Figures the year I spend a grand on my boards is the year I get "THE SHAFT". I may just take that Colorado Vacation this year afterall.......
  20. I LOVE BOOBIES ! BOOBIES BOOOOOOBBBBIIEESSSSS ! LOOK AT MY BOOBIES ! http://www.koppelquests.net/IMAGES/April_22/images/IMGP5393.jpg
  21. yeah I'm healing. It's been an ache that only really bothers me when on my feet standing for long periods of time and the muscle tenses up... so like after work in the kitchen this week I'm ready to die. Luckily I have 3 days off this week (which I've not had in 6 months). Any injury that you can get up and snowboard away from and bitch to complain about for a few years is a good one :D
  22. Christmas day. Conditions were loose granular and a bit of underlying ice with just a bit of mud and rocks thrown in to make it "interesting". I left my hardboots and brand new ride at home YET AGAIN for another weekend of working at Jimily due to less than ideal carving conditions and an overwhelming desire to NOT get a core shot from a rock on my first day out with it. So, what did I do for fun ? teach freestyle Ledge jumping and work on my ground impacting resistance techniques. http://aycu34.webshots.com/image/6673/2005613861994493113_rs.jpg Pic is the resulting ASS BRUISE from getting corked out off a plastic barrel effect in the park and slamming ass/hip down first to the ground in efforts to show the ice who was stronger. I was wearing my helmet.......... but It was in the wrong location. ps: yes that is my ass :P
  23. hard hat by chance? HELMETY GOODNESS?
  24. HELLO ! I too reciently fell in love with the 2007 A-frame. I want it in the 170 , but am having trouble locating one despite it being listed on the Arbor website. I love all sorts of boards, but this just has that classic beauty to it and from what I hear, it is right up my alley as to the type of board flex and style I love to ride. It is on my " MUT GET list.... but right now I have yet to even get out on my carve board and hardboots even once as there has been ZERO accumulated snowfall :( gah.... This year has sucked sofar... I'm hoping for a big sloppy couple of snow dumps in Jan / Feb.
  25. some of us are true to form, but our sarcastic comments come across a bit bettter when a person KNOWS that they are being a snot on purpose, and not in a mean way. I am who I am here and in life, people just need to read a lot of my post with a grain of salt and think of me as always "Joking" .... some people take things wayyyy too seriously online.
