  1. :smashfreaARGH.... I officaly HATE this thread now..... ugh.... such awesome snow U have NOW..... (my season was done March 20th) go rip it, Im' sooooo jealous and jonsing, but I know JETSKI season is just around the bend for me. bahh!
  2. 51 days, no lessons, it was done as of March 20th for me. Ended the season with the SPRING FLING@ westmountain. 15 years of riding, at the place it all started that long ago... it seemed poetic as a last day in 65 degree weather :)
  3. Day # 50, and...... I'm DONE. sixty five degrees today. will be for the rest of the weekend too. It will all but close down the biggest of resorts here in the East I fear. The lakes on the way to the mountain just last week had a solid 6 inches of ice... now just barely enough to hold up a bird walking on them. Slopes? ughhh... more like Slops. Concrete foot massage at 9 am, Slush by 1 pm, back to concrete mine field of tractor tread plate ice and piles of locked up granular by 7 pm, down right N-A-S-T-Y by 9:00 pm. One thing I can say though, is that I was loving the fact I was in hardboots and on a LONG board. An extra 10 CM really made a huge difference in blasting thru the crud . Wax um, tune um, shelf um. Time for JETSKIS
  4. I've got one or 2 days left of HB riding here on the east coast.... Conditions are just getting too dangerous and unpredictable. A mixed bag of slush, snow ice, crust and frozen death cookies abound. Actualy, I may be done already and just don't realise it yet.... argh. Its good to be a softbooter in days like this... (as I duck the flyig tomatoes and rotten peaches...)
  5. going to have to change your member name to "occasionaly harder-softboot-sailer" There are days that Plates just totaly rawk, and others when the softies are prime. Always good to have both on the hill:)
  6. ahh ahh ah say...Maybe; just maybe it will keep da boy busy......
  7. Jiminy Peak. 8:30 am till 10 pm. Work there, and get "first tracks" @ 8:05 am. except you have to set up speed signs and repair downed fencing and look for hazzards on the trails ... but still a nice treat to be the first person to hear the "BURRRRRPPPTT" under your feet as you unzip the cords :) I'm hoping to have a season that last into april, but 54 degree days won't help the carving situation.... already getting the early morning frozen granular sand and sinkholes of death. Soon it will be slush puppies and "corn" snow....

  9. Arbor take a beating on the ice-coast. The wood tends to peal up around the tips and chip far too easily. Good boards if you are "nice to them"... K2, NEVERSUMMER, GNU, and ROZZI make some boards that take the abuse in the park. Go for a true twin tip, and set up a ballanced stance and duck it out. Parks become playgrounds :)
  10. I left mine in the trunk of the car for a few days in the spring time after riding, the mold was quite a funky smell and fuzzy green...
  11. Why is NY and NJ with PR and Virgin Islands> ? not even CLOSE to each other....
  12. Did he draw them all on the palm of his hand, or move onto other areas of his body> ?
  13. LOLz @ ALLEE's reply I've been really lucky this year, and NOT had any of those days. Usualy I always am the unlucky guy who is given a lesson to teach in said downpour.... why? because I made the mistake of voicing a comment about "any day on the snow is better than a day in the kitchen even if it is pouring rain!" ....without realizing how hard it was raining one day. My coworkers lovingly cant wait to re-iterate this in unison when the time is appropriate. If not working and get caught in a downpour, I take a nap in the car. love sleeping and listening to it beat on the roof.
  14. Congrats! My GF is a RN (and a kickass one @ that too!). If you are able to relocate, I believe she was saying St.Marys in Troy NY was looking for some RNs with Seaton Health.
  15. The only limitations we have are the ones we establish in our own minds. Will a newer board make you better ? quite possibly. Do you need to spend a lot to do it? no. Will you still enjoy snowboarding with what you already have? yes. Just go out and ride. If you can't justify spending 2K on gear you will not use more than a few times a year, then you should budget accordingly, and focus on the stuff you will use more. ie: motorcross or groceries, or diapers. I've not read many your post but apparently you ruffled feathers in the past as I have been refered to as "the new you" by a few members in some threads as my comments and thoughts are different than popular consesus at times. When I first joined in 2005 there was a thread about experiences and technique and old boards and new ones that you were in. <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=4 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt2 style="BORDER-RIGHT: 1px inset; BORDER-TOP: 1px inset; BORDER-LEFT: 1px inset; BORDER-BOTTOM: 1px inset">Originally posted by Aracan Knowing Maciek's posts, he is probably absolutely right. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> Absolutely? That's probably never true, but sometimes commitment to expressing opinion and some facts may help :) This still rings true to this day. Let bygone be bygones, and just remember we are all here for the snow and the experience of the carve
  16. hahah, no worries hahaha! obviously ducttape is not any sort of serious answer. Your boots are in good repair because they are not used but for a few times each decade (I'm talking about the occasional skier and snowboarder from VA with whoom I have friends who moved there and are always telling me how much they hate seeing pics of snow and them not being in it, but this year they got revenge and would blast me with the pictures messages on my cell phone) If anything, Im jealous, really have not had that kind of a winter up here, but for one day apparently @ HUNTER mountian there was really super deep stuff and a day or 2 @ JAY PEAK. I went to Aspen and really hoped for a massive dump, but was let down by M.N. and my pow board remains waxed and unused this season :(
  17. Ya know, I read this post the other day, and wasn't going to say anything, but I was thinking about this very post today. It bothers me that people really have this kind of thinking. It is very ELETIST, and has such a snotty air to it that it makes people wonder "why" they would even want to come here and post, or be a hardbooter. THere is no pre-requsite to already be in HB and Plates to come to BOL forums. It is about expanding and educating people what Hardboot carving is (as per Jack M's words) all about. WE ARE ALL S N O W B O A R D E R S. We should all work hard on getting MORE people into hardboots, expanding the reach of the hardboot preferance, and dig deep into the soul of the fundementals of what the purpose is ... CARVING. ....and that requires us to embrace the softboot world (and skiers too)for what it is, and draw from that pool to expand this aspect of carving on plates. That having been said, BEER IS BEER... unless it is pussified. I had the displeasure of getting a 6 pack of Rolling Rock in Aspen, and taking a swig and spitting it right back out. I thought it was bad or spoiled, but when I looked, it was NOT brewed in Latrobe, PA but actualy in St. Louis, MO and was only 3.2% Alcohol per Volume as opposed to the norm of 5%. I guess softboots are just watered down hardboots, but its still beer, It just takes a bit more pissing to get the same desired effect. ;) There are softboot forums with carving and race sub forums as well. It is only proper there is a place where softbooters can talk HERE as well without fear of ridicule for having a thread topic involving SB and getting blasted in it. I roll thru the park and get props for doing boxes and jumps in hardboots, they should be shown the same respect for dropping their ass and chest into the snow with pencil thin carved snow tracks behind them as well. RESPECT GETS RESPECT.
  18. Saddly I'm stuck in the Kitchen today :( Yesterday and today look like BLUEBIRDS too ARGH..... I got a spare moment between services to pop in and check the forum (for sanity sake). I didnt get to ride with ya, but I'm sure you had a blast as even though all I had time to do was a few hours, it still beats sitting @ home! As to the pic, yer welcome :) Wish I had a spare day to sit out on the slopes with a nice SLR and nail some action shots, but it just wasn't in the cards for the week :( Hopefully Sean (donek) got some good actions. Everyone @ the sessions are awesome, and beginner or pro alike it is all about just going out and making turns, laughing, critiquing, drinking, BSing, and having fun! Hope to see ya again up here soon next season!
  19. I'm busting his balls, He is in VA. They just got dumped on for the first time in a very long time a few weeks ago. I was being facetious as most people "down south" have never stepped in snow deep enough to cascade over the top of the boot and get down inside them. All in good fun, just a lill ribbing is all.
  20. PaulK decided to make some park gappers jaws drop at ECES yesterday at 4:10 pm (last run of the day) at the bottom of the hill in the base area and did a nice slow fully laid back on the tail - 360. He was promptly "pig-piled" by a few other hardbooters... much to the amusement of a few of us onlookers. Sic t 2: your reply post after Jacks was definatley exactly ON-POINT and very accurate with the physics of what happens in the 360. Its fun to pull them when people are not expecting it, and they are shocked when the lines "X" in the snow and you are looking at them with a "hi, how ya dooin?" kinda smirk on your face :)
  21. the only speciffic thing Id say as to a powder boot is this invaluable acessory item.... Nothing worse then snow in yer boots and up your pants !
  22. Yeah... It is something we 100% need. 95% those who find Bomber tend to be softbooters already, able to carve and are looking to switch over. Of those, atleast a good fair shake will still remain in softboots, and their own carving will be influenced by such. We are a "CARVING COMMUNITY".... Lets embrace everything there is about "carving" and not be eletist when it comes to such :) There are days when I love my plates, and times when I want softies. "Proper tool for job" I say, and there are a lot of ways to down a trail and a lot of boards and setups to GETTERDONE ! Thumbs up to a "Mushmellow carver" section :)
  23. She was riding in the Gondola with myself, Eardragger, PaulK, Anne, and a guy ridding a metal Donek (who I have forgotten his name). She was a real chatterbox wackjob, but harmless. She was actualy not too bad on a snowboard, but yeah..... keep a sharp look out for her around 2 pm when the lifts are "free" and the ticket checkers stop checking, it is when she shows up to ride as just like most snowboarders, she is poor! I got to sleep-in till 9:00 am today, Have to be in the kitchen for 14 hours trying hard to get back up for friday, but I doubt it will happen... WORK SUX !
  24. http://www.facebook.com/#!/album.php?aid=149503&id=503044718&ref=nf Some pics :) Saddly I was able to only come ride for the afternoon, the bastards who pay me $ to do a job said I needed to be responsible and show up to work...... I guess...... damnit. I will try to sneek back up friday if I can, but it looks grim for such. Got out and made some turns today with familliar friends and tipped back some suds with faces of both new and old @ the griz for apres-ski. Sorry no action shots, but I did what I could :)
