1. Docrob, perhaps I misread what you typed, but did you say you have been snowboarding for only a week? If so I assume you were a skier before and the transition to snowboarding was fairly easy hence your inquiries on this forum about carving and both hard and softboot bindings? Dano/ others, maybe I didn’t say when I started the thread; but I recognise that hardoots are the business…. spending my savings on Sidewinders and Deeluxe in the euro sales ..to experiment. …But that setup is maybe a tad ambitious after a weeks snowboarding. I want to plan out the tools to steepen the learning curve in the early stages, since I don’t get much time on snow. Not passing any judgement, just curious is all Also if you are wearing your softboots to do other things, you greatly reduce the lonjevity of them in their designed purposes, and stiffness with misuse.
2. I have one. Its locked n loaded... ready to shoot some slopes in Aspen :) Durable, but has a textured surface, so stickers don't sitck to it very well :(

Saw it opening weekend in a regular theatre. I want to go back and see it in Imax. Lame plot, but WOW awesome use of a rehashed concept :)
4. Nils said: Of course 27cm is not enough for a 0° setting: you would need at least a 32-33cm board to be able to ride EC turns at 0°. My 28.5 mondo decided my angles, i started at the back foot, set it to 36-37°, found it would not overhang, then added 7-8° on the front. I have to agree as I also am rocking the size 12.5 (~mondo 30) boots with this setting for that width as a baseline starting point with toes/heels on the edge or just under them. I'm really looking forward to trying out the next generation of softboot boards @ SES next week. I'm very much leaning twards a SWOARD as my weapon of choice, but a SABRE or RAZOR may be more apre-pro for my particular wants and needs. I'm keeping an open mind. Its not always about the best, as it is with what makes you personaly ride your best and feel good all day long :)
5. Docrob, a lot of the difficulty in understanding about 3 straps versus 2 strap bindings is a lot of how you ride in technique. I for one love my 3 straps as do some others, and clearly there are those who say they suck. I ran the gauntlet with boots, and bindings, new versus old technology, and found that the newer stiff boots really did not help my style, and even when I tried adjusting and re adapting technique, I was actualy held back by some of the "newer" gear and experienced a good bit of knee and ankle pain in soft boots. For the record, I have full access to all the newest gear and also hold love for the older stuff. All I can say is Experiment, and find what suits you best. There are no rules with this snowboarding other than to have fun and enjoy it. We can go around and around about locking pins, and highbacks getting busted by chairs, and flex yada yada yada.... While you are at it, feel free to completely remove the highback and ride the board without one for a few days and get a real feel for what its like to not be handicapped with range of motion restrictions  but I digress. Same board, same rider, same boots, same style... different bindings.... Personaly, I feel better in the 3 straps and have a SOLID connection feel and don't want the highback moving on me, so to each their own.
6. good lord...... Should give it to the NITRO CIRCUS jackass boys..... see what hilarity they can do..... http://www.jackassworld.com/blog/2009/12/14/its-winter-bitches/ the Jackass boys are up to it again.... Winter snow.... Surfing? yes..... SNOWSURFING! hahahah!
7. I'm avid with a JETSKI group here i NY and I toyed with one of these at an expo. they are fun, but Id rather have a sport hull under me for carving as riding that surfboard gets tiring after a while, but its a great novelty to just haveone. I've been keeping my eyes open for a used one for a while. they are liek 5 grand for a NICE one. there are a few manufactuers. Some better than others.
8. holy crap thats awesome-er than the last new awesome news of today! I'm rootin for the "old guy"
9. I guess this now adds new meaning to "COLD WAR ERA" Nicely done! Should be an awesome Month for the sport with Xgames, then SES, and Olympics, Thunderdome, and ECES, USASA nationals, and the 20 year anniversery for the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge series and more for us boarders.
10. Docrob, you have your Email dissabled. I have a spare pair of 3 strap bindings. They are "beaters", but Id be willing to part with them if you want to experiment. I got them from BOLA from allboardsports in Colorado lastyear. The high backs and thirdstrap are in good shape. I'm missing one of the toe-ramp extension pieces for the base, but they are not necessary anyway unless you are rawking the size 12+ boots. LMK. I'd let them go at a more than fair price.
11. Awesome. Ya need a lazer pointer mounted on it for riding @ night :)
12. Im riding with the stiff ones. I like the response I get with not needing them super tight on my shins.
13. This is one days worth of riding from sun up to sun down. Add in also a few park runs on the 121 MINI that is in the trunk of the car also. Proper tool, for proper time. I could go all day on one setup, but when wanting the most out of your day and experience, having "options" is sweet. Skategoat, I ride the majority of my boards at 38 front 28 rear, or 46 front 38 rear on the 3 strap setup. THe alpine BX board with TD2s Im around 68 front 64 rear. the Mini, Im ducked out at +28 -28
14. "give me 4 inches and hurt me where it counts!" SO it rained and washed all the snow away..... My heart aches now :( 4 inches is my fave measurement for Stiletto heels on the cougar ladies... not the rain guage. Had an epic weekend of snow conditions and I definatley am not looking forward to riding Boilerplate next weekend before heading out west... because returning back to the east will be depressing; I know what will be waiting @ the local hill for Presidents week. :(
15. The last option is actualy closer than all the others. I had to have some lowerleg braces when I was young because my ankles were not growing properly. I had braced ankles and orthotic arch supports until I was 6 years old. I was blessed with super stong ankles that later in life became a godsend with snowboarding as I tend to ride with a lot of ankle based movements. I rode a skateboard for a little while, and had a nasty spill that took out a few teeth and required stitches in my chin, but it did not keep me from snowboarding later that year in 1995, and the rest well.... been boarding ever since. For the past few years, I've done "carving" on the lake with Jetskis in the summer. AS to my bloodlines, I'm Black Irish.
16. Drub a dub dub.. thas sum good roadside grub! Already tenderized. yumm-o ~ ! A buddy of mine got a nice 6 pointer this year and it was tough as nails.... It ran for like a mile and he had to track it before it bled out. Lactic acid sux for deer meat. EDIT: I butchered it for him hanging in his garage. I was done in just under 2 hours and he still owes me the backstrap tenderlons for doing it, but after having some of the stew, I think I will pass.
17. I agree! Those snowboards are missing "LEASHES!"

19. Hardcase SNOWTUBE is how I roll. I've seen wha the airlines and UPS do to boards and ski gear in soft bags first hand... and It ain't purrrdyyy Pay a lill extra, save yourself the anger later.
20. WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE.... It is only a matter of time until the circle is complete.... The more the merrier!
21. When I pulled a classic "FACEPLANT" by catching my edge this weekend working myt way thru the crowd in a transition area, a skier dad and boarder son stopped and asked me some questions. I explained yes that it was indeed a snowboard and asked if they watched any olympic events or racing. Their reply was "which olympics?" I blinked, stared at them and said "obviously not Summer". The dad didnt get it, but the kid with the runny nose laughed. I then had to proceed to tell him Slalom, or GS in the WINTER OLYMPICS. They then said they would watch and look for it as how I was riding was unlike anything they had ever seen before and asked if it was "something new".... yeahhhhhhhhhhhh ....... wow, just wow. Oy Vey.
22. Kimo, Even if you can't ride @ SES, hope you can make it there to just chillax and laugh with us all! Speedy recovery is the catch phrase of the moment !
23. odd coincedental thoughts popped into my head.... I bought a 1966 Thunderbird in 2003. (Born/died years of CK) I sold it last year on the last day of Eastcoast season. It was painted in the primer color: artic white. The guy who bought it, found it from Craigs' List. That very same day, I bought my friends K2 big mountain Nemesis board. That board is going with me to SES. My first "big trip" to a "big mountain" out west. GO BIG OR GO HOME.
24. OMG please a 164 Saber and 176 Razor. I would LOVE to see what these can do in the East! ++1 for shorter turny but good with stiff speeds of around 40 mph!
25. As I said elsewhere.... "Legends dont die, they are remembered."
