The emergency surgery and the sepsis caused her health both physically and mentally to degenerate. If it had been caught in time it likely would have ended differently. She was vibrant and healthy and living alone prior to this. Yes that is cold and is one of the attitudes we are concerned about being a part of this bill. There is no more to the story. she was denied a CT scan due to shortage of timeslots of personel to run it. Either way the Social medicine thing didnt work. Not an attack on Canada but a personal story. My Grandmother lived most of her last 20 years or so in canada. She went to the doctor with abdominal pain. She was given a basic exam and some meds. She returned three more times with increasing pain and was told she needed some imagry but there was a 6 week wait. My aunt who lives just across the border in the US and is a nurse brought here across the border to an american ER she was given the CT scan she needed and was immediately diagnosed with appendicitis. It burst on her way to emergency surgery nearly killing her. she went downhill into dementia very shortly after and was over a year recovering her bodily health. her mental condition never improved before her death. So you can see my concern for all of us being FORCED to participate in such a "beloved" system

ITs a philosophy Bob! Its not something you embrace in its entirety. Philosophy is an intensely personal thing that everyone has whether they realize it or not. ITs a collection of your experience. I am white and I am a professional but I am new in business at a time that is clearly not the best. my kids are on CHIP/ medicaid and many of the assumptions you make about me are frankly offensive. that said you should understand that philosophy is something developed over time as a collection of things you have been exposed to and thought about with some level of attention. We are very close to finding out if they stand up to scrutiny since being a producer in this country is rapidly becoming a nonstarter. If I had it to do again I would be thinking twice about investing 10 years and 200k in my education since I make about what I did when I drove a truck for fedex.

The best answer under our current system is a high deductable catastrophic policy combined with a health savings acct. 10k deductable is relatively cheap and anything above that is 100% covered. if you put even a small amount in savings for yourself in a tax free medical savings plan you whittle down the 10k and its pretax dollars. The insurance industry needs reworked for sure and denials are a big part of the problem.

There are no absolutes in life Steve. We can't mitigate every risk. Personally I don't have a problem with a safety net approach to the problem. medicaid is already in place. There are a few that slip thru the cracks that should be addressed. I don't make enough to afford health insurance for instance. yet this new plan says that I should pay for yours. How is that an appropriate answer? I mitigate the risks by living a wellness based lifestyle. I choose to board since the exercise is very good for me. I have a good life insurance policy for about 125$ a year so my family is covered if I smoke a tree. I leave the mtn when the moron to groomer ratio gets to high. I make concious decisions about risk every run down the mtn. I choose to be responsible for myself. In most cases there is insurance to cover me. I will not likely get any degenerative or lifestyle diseases. If I need medical intervention it will be for trauma most likely in a vehicle and the vehicle insurance will cover me. snowboarding and other recreation is my only real uninsured risk. I choose to accept that risk. If I gamble and lose its on me. Thats the way our constitution was written.

By his logic we all are responsible for our own actions. feel free to ride without a helmet. I dont care. I wear one because its smart. ITs not my place to legislate your happiness. Our constitution guarantees the right to be stupid. IT is not govts place to keep us safe from ourselves only safe from others. 1) Govt can't manage medicare or the VA system with anything resembling efficiency or concern for the patient. The govt is not allowed to force us to buy anything. 12 states at last count lining up to sue over that one. 6) No Tort reform. No FDA fix (most FDA bigwigs are former CEO's and current stockholders of Big Pharma) fox guarding the henhouse. 7) This is an attempt at SICKCARE reform it has nothing to do with health. 8) The free market can do better. breaking up the medical/insuranceco/big pharma monopoly would be a good start. The current system is highly regulated and thoroughly inhibited by govt already. 9) Are you really comfortable with the govt having access to your checking acct? yes actual access to your acct. its in there. medicare providers already deal with this one. The govt can access my acct at anytime to reimburse themselves for "overpayments" under the guise of a direct deposit system. 10) Sofar there is no word on funding and approval for true wellness based care. 11) salaries for healthcare personel will be controled by the govt and will be basically the same regardless of specialty or dollars and yrs spent achieving said specialty. Bottomline in 10 yrs there will be no incentive to go thru 10+ yrs of college to make the same wage as a truckdriver. no more Drs and nurses. 12) my taxes just went up almost 10% and I have absolutely no use for the coverage I may recieve in compensation. I haven't been to a medical doctor 5 times in my 37 yrs. I do however spend out of pocket for many wellness based "alternatives" oh yeah and I will be fined if I dont buy it! 13) your life liberty and pursuit of happiness gets no greater weight than my own. My Liberty should not and Will not take second to your health. YOu want healthcare reform? start teaching people that THEY are responsible for their own health. I deal with at least one of these cases a month. most of them are upper cervical nerve pressure that is relatively easy to fix via adjustment to the C1 vertabra the rest end up at the neurologist or the ENT (ear nose throat specialist) Get it checked. Your Chiropractor can check the upper cervical issue and refer you to the right specialist if necessary!

I started hardbooting in 1989 with raichle rear entry skiboots. The first Burton hardboots were out that year if my memory serves me. They worked just fine although the bindings were the old rail style 5 hole burtons. Lots of lateral flex in the bindings to accomadate the lack of lateral flex in the boots. I would not suggest riding them with a modern stiff binding like trenchdigger or catek. on an ibex or f2 they might work just fine. its really a boot, binding, rider style combo thing more than any one piece of equipment
