Jack M
So I can ski with my kids. Size 28. Lange, Technica would be nice.
Spiny Norman
CL in NH has a ton of nice boots pretty cheap. Bet Boston CL does too.
Beckmann AG
Dude; Friends don't let friends ski Tecnica. I'll check around for something that doesn't suck.
powdahbonz
Jack- I have a set of Lange Banshees that are 28's sitting if you'd like to try them out
Jack M
re: Tecnica, just thinking of something on the wide side. Wish I could go Dalbello Krypton, but my Dad's look narrower than a ski. I just need something in which to ski with the kids. Skidding an alpine snowboard around at kid speeds is dumb. Not looking to come out of NASTAR retirement or anything. Derek, that would be great. Heading up to Portland any time this week?
powdahbonz
Probably on Thursday afterwork -meet up for a frosty beverage? Any chance you have a spare Intec cable you're not using? Broke mine on Sunday and that really crimps those easy exits when necessary.
tex1230
if your feet fit in head SB boots, the ski boots have the same fit. Just FYI.
Jack M
Thursday, yes! Novare Res? I do have an extra Intec cable, but it is at the loaf, and one of us will have to figure out how to extract it from a faulty Fin-Tec prototype. Never tried Head. powdahbonz
Assuming you'll be up there for xmas..happy to try. Are the fintec cables the same? That's really all I need..everything else is fine. Novare Res sounds good...family of yours or name coincidence?
Beckmann AG
If you want wider and some semblance of performance, the Nordica Speedmachine (?) 130 isn't hateful. The Head boots come in several widths, depending on end use. The Banshee has a wider last than your old Lange Xzero9.
powdahbonz
That is one impressive beer menu...wow..no switchback...I'll have to go rira first.
Jack M
I will probably be able to count on one, maybe two hands how many days I will ski this year, so the Banshee sounds good. What time at NR? Name - I didn't even know! Man I should get a discount!
BlueB
Jack, maybe something that you can still clip into the board for few runs, when a chance showed? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dalbello-CRX-Extreme-Carve-X-Red-Black-Ski-Boots-Size-Mondo-28-5-USA-10-EURO-9-/200689300588?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eba03b46c You can even BTS them, with a bit of work... Jack M
Tempting, thanks for the tip. What does Dr. Beckman say? Although I think they got it wrong with that ankle strap. Should be a cable. Also I ride step-ins, so snowboarding in them isn't a factor.
BlueB
The latest version has a cable on the ankle buckle. No Carve/Walk/Ski skitch, or at least not the type you can replace with BTS. A lot more expensive too.
Beckmann AG
If they fit, go with the Lange. The Banshee was more or less the classic Lange shell, probably a bit wider in front, probably a 110/120 flex. Ramp is on the high side, but easy to modify when necessary. Enough boot to get you there in one piece if you find yourself late for lunch and far away. No 'performance' boot should have a cable or strap across the ankle junction. Important tendon activity in that area affecting 'dexterity', which can easily be blocked in the quest for 'heel hold down'. There are better ways to secure the foot.
