deeluxe track 700 problem, anyone else seen this?

Today was my 4th day on the new boots, it was pretty wet so I pulled the liners when I got back to the house to make sure they dry thoroughly and found this.

Looks like the screw in the toe block was driven to deep from the factory. Needless to say I'm not stoked about a hole in $177 liners from a factory issue.:(

I agree with Bob, this is not an issue. I cut both of my liners on the back of each heel in order to run the power cable for my Thermic heaters with no problems with the liners. In addition to taping, you may want to file the points off of the protruding screw points OR replace them with stainless steel 5mm allen head boots. If the screws rust in place you can have issues trying to remove, plus the allen heads can take more torque when tightening. The bolts are flat on the tip (end), not pointed.
