Dave;

I won't be able to join you Thursday; I got out this morning for a few runs - same as the last time around: firm groom, good light, few folks out (isn't that a surprise at 0 Fahrenheit).

Next thursday (1/13) a group of us are heading up to Giant's Ridge for the day, so I'm out of the Thursday picture for a couple of weeks.

Enjoy!

BTW - why are all the trees in your avatar photo leaning downhill?

Perfect day (if you discount the -1 degree start temp) but sunny, clear skies, and perfect snow (and I do mean perfect). :biggthump

Big Wave Dave joined Russ and I this morning and we had four pipe pretty much wide open from 9 AM to 11 AM when it finally started to get some traffic. We were joined by James from Madison for a few runs....a first time alpine boarder and we look forward to maybe seeing him again in the future.

Dave brought his GOPRO and I had mine as well. Got some footage and as this was my second time using it and first time following people..mixed results. I will have to follow Dave's lead and stay MUCH closer to my targets. Russ and Dave look great but will look better next time as I get close and stay close. Great still shots if you pause them up close.

Will do some editing and downloading and will post links to the vids early this week.

Today was great, more fun than a body has a right to.....looking forward to a lot more fun this season.

Good times in the northland!

and accomplices seen carving up fourpipe, AKA#11 at Spirit Mnt...video at 10.

Hey guys, that was fun today. Perfect conditions. Now I have to learn how to edit this video on my computer. I think I need to get the optional manual-telescoping-zoom-pole for the Gopro.

I was thrilled to hear that James from Madison was at Spirit to race in intercollegiate snowboard GS! I had no idea. Maybe they will finally start incorporating snowboard racing into the high school ski race programs too. See you next time.

Back so soon? You must have the bug pretty bad........

We used to see another local named Ryan out pretty regularly; he rode a red Donek 179 FC (very gracefully, I might add); but I haven't seen him since early last season. He's posted here in the past but I don't find his name now looking through the member's list.

I'll be out Thursday evening and both Saturday and Sunday mornings patrolling; next week might work for me too if you're planning another weekday foray.

****SEE NEW HIGHER QUALITY EDIT OF THIS POST LATER IN THREAD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Saved this in compressed version so quality suffered, will upload all others in the future to You Tube to allow for that crisp look.

Either way....Russ and Dave get center stage...except for my biff....in this full edit of the runs last Sunday.....I am slowly getting the hang of this ....

ahhh your a prince.....thanks for the vid.......

New snow made for slow snow today.....took a lot to keep the speed up. Another groom after heavy use today and cold tonight should provide for more turns in the morning. A good morning though.

Huge race group and MLK holiday weekend in evidence as it picked up in a hurry and when I left at 11 it was getting very busy.

Will be up for a couple hours in the AM.

Just Russ and I today with cold weather (-2) but after the slow snow yesterday, the groom was firm and fast with edges holding all morning long. Few people out on four pipe and bindle stiff before 11 so again, two full hours of mostly open terrain....very good day. Was getting crowded when I left the lot.

Coming to Spirit for the FIS ski race this weekend with my son. Hope to ride some on Saturday though working at the men's race. Not working Sunday and will have more time to ride if anyone's out. Red coat, black helmet. Shouldn't be as many kids as the USSA race last weekend.

Joe,

I have volunteer shifts each morning this weekend at Spirit and if I get the the right slot, I may have the opportunity to be out on the hill for a short period of time each morning between 9 and 9:45......

Green full face helmet and orange Spirit Mountain Host Jacket....

Will look for you either way....
