skeez rule
I do not get why you guys are so hyped on alpine snowboards a ski will out perform a board in all conditions I can carve just as well on a ski as a board in fact better I think that soon there will be no alpine snowboards seeing as the advances that companies like rossignol and burton have made in the last few years the soft gear carves just as well as a monoboard and all the companies have bailed on you guys except the niche companies with little/no R&D money so where is the inovation gonna come from and finally those boards are not versitile enough
Baka Dasai
This is a truly lame troll, although I'm sure it'll still get a rise from people here. I did get a chuckle out of "monoboard" though. Anyway, IHBT and IHL, but here's a nice pic of some pretty good carving: <img src="http://www.ronlemaster.com/Bode-AltaBadia-2002.jpg">

D-Sub
errr..and...where did the idea to throw that radical sidecut on the skis come from? hmmmmm? anyway. lame. period. the fact that all youve ridden is a PJ kinda says something that said, I saw this dude at mammoth last time I was there...he was carvin some NICE turns on skis I sure didnt say "damn, why is that dude on skis and not an alpine board?" what I said was "nice turns!" Guest AlpentalRider
ROFLMAO Skeez Rule, that was some funny sh1t. You know, I used to ski (expert level, not some n00b) and thought I would never try snowboarding. Then after years of my friend nagging me to give snowboarding a try, I finally did, and haven't touched my skis since. Funny thing is, there's countless people you can find who talk about switching to snowboarding and never going back to skis... yet I have yet to hear of a guy who switched to skiing and never went back to snowboarding... things that make you go hmmmmmm

gdboytyler
The worse thing about skiing, is telling your friends that you're gay!
C5 Golfer
So you tried Boarding and failed heh? Too bad Skeez. Should have spent more money on gear - you might have made it to the next level. Oh well guess we don't cater to quiters anyway - have a ice day. :D
Guest lonecarver
I'm a snowboarder, never skied until now. I've been told by many that skiing is alot harder to learn than snowboarding. Towards the end of this season I took a lesson. After a 2 hour lesson my Instructor couldn't believed that I could ski the blue runs in control and without edging. I've spent a total of 8 hours on skis before deciding to venture out with some of my skiing friends. My friends were amazed. I'm not saying I'm an expert, my friends tell me that I do a combination of carving/skidded turns, but at least I'm in control and not taking anyone out!! My friends think that skiing was easy for me because I always ride my alpine board. Guess how many of my friends want to board next season? Skiing is not hard to learn and its not as fun as a board. Anyone have this experience going from boarding to skiing. I'm not a skier my any means love the board way too much!!
Jon Dahl
is when I split my board to go uphill!!! Harder than you think!
outsider
skeez- you obviously arent that good of a carver bro. anyone who has gotten laid (turns;) ) wouldnt have the cock envy to feel the need to flame their fellow shredders because we all know the turns generally reflect onto your personality. CarvCanada
simple fact: on skis, the GS racers can pull in between 1.5 and 1.8 G's. The snowboard GS racers, and even freecarvers just on the mountain with big 186's can pull up to 3.5 G's which is clearly a more powerful carve. Everything about the technique, the rotation, the power, it's just more powerful on a snowboard. Also you can get more lean.
garyj
What about the red suit? Where can I get one? Preferably with a little neon mixed in.

I gotta see where you got this data! not necessarily doubting it but that is HIGH!

Guest John
All you need to pull 3.5 G's is a 73.4 degree lean angle. In fact the right side line on the carpet plot in Jack's physics article corresponds to a resultant acceleration of about 3.7 G's
Guest John
To clarify, the way the graph works, the lines across the carpet corespond to one value of resultant acceleration. (one value of natural lean angle corresponds one value resultant acceleration.) By the way, there seems to be something going on with the formating of the physics article (parts of it are repeated.) Does this mean that no one has actually read it since it was posted on the new site?? :D
