fin
Today was GS at the Race to the Cup at Copper Mountain. Fantastic conditions and the snow was actually very nice for early season. As Dave M-organ just posted here are the top 3 results: Mens 1. Chris Klug - USA 2. Jasey-Jay Anderson - CANI-Duh 3. Adam Smith - USA Womens 1. Caroline Calve - CAN 2. Brooke Shaw - USA 3. Lynn Ott - USA It went to a standard two run format over dual as there was not enough lane space to run the dual. Everyone looked in great form and spirits where high. Tomarrow is slalom and we wish all the racers good luck Photos from the race HERE.

DiveBomber
The turnout was fantastic, almost 100 competitors. I am not sure if you are serious, or trolling divebomber dude I have over 600 posts been on the board for a few years. Im not sure if that was a serious remark or a stupid one. Looks like about 20 people in those photos.
fin
I think there was close to 95 competitors and then probably another 20 in support staff. Then maybe 20+ in family in friends watching. It's a hard race for spectators as first run is at 7:00am. The racing was fast and action packed and everyone had a great time. Not sure if the volume of people would be an indicator of the great time everyone had? That said, it would be nice to see more people watching these events as these guys and gals deserve more coverage.

willywhit
do ya have to buy the photo to get the larger version ? I sharpened it and added some light with Picasa. Great shot ! A bigger version would make a great wallpaper. Looks like an awesome day for racing despite the flat light

Ernie00
Great pictures Fin. Makes you wonder why would they run races on thursday when 99% of the population is working and will not make it out to see the race.
neil sunday
They run the races when the general public is less likely to create congestion on the hill. Copper pulled off the space to run this race which is amazing in itself. Yes, the spectators may be working, but people that make snowboarding their living were there. (obviously, no lack of turn out for the season opener-- approx 90 racers and 20-25 coaches and staff). This RTTC was almost as big of a turn out as the FIS WC at Lake Placid. Kudos to Copper for pulling this one off in the early season.
