  1. Perhaps I did not tighten them enough, i keep twisting the screw and it seems always easy to close !!!
  2. Hey guys, I'm trying my new F2s... it looks like by boot sole is too thin, there is a gap (in height) created between my metal brace and the boot, is it normal ?!
  3. I disagree with people saying that you need to have high level technique and knowledge of riding to feel the difference between boards. As long as one knows how to turn and moderatly carve he WILL feel the difference between boards. I would go foward and state that if you set aside skill and experience, some people will just have more feeback than others. It's like driving a car, some people can feel it and others don't. It's not a question of knowledge and skill, it's more a question of how well you can get feedback from your gear. Experience does help a little, but like everywhere else in life, some have it, some don't. I'm pretty confident that a high end board (race or soft) will be rewarding (over a lower end board) for ANY level of riding.
  4. I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one going that way on a metal board (wich doesnt surprise me anyway) It was a really interesting discussion though, but as always we did not come to a clear cut conclusion I hope I won't have any gear failure at -30 .. -35
  5. I can't wait to try out mine.. I've been quite busy this week and I did not buy my season pass yet.. I have to start moving my ass soon. It is -22 in montreal -31 with the wind factor, it will go down to -30 by the end of the week excluding the wind factor... We are in for a tough weekend on the slopes !!!!
  6. Hey guys, You don't have to worry about my feelings, lol. It will take much more to hurt them. I think this is a healthy conversation about bindings. It just shows that some people prefer a type of binding over another. It is called diversity, there is not a theory superior to the other so far, or else every rider on the world cup would be riding the same gear. That is why we see bombers, F2, catek & everything else. Obviously if you ride them your going to root for them. Have fun rocking your boards guys !
  7. Louis

    Hot box ?

Ou tu prend ca Ernie ??
  8. I think it is tough to compare ski bindings to snowboard bindings because you cant have flexibility in ski bindings obviously, because you gain that flexibility from the legs being independent one from another. Whereas in snowboard you have both of your legs on one stick... I'd say that the softer binding will transfer less of the terrain irregularities through your legs, making it a smoother ride, while still maintaining a good path.
  9. Il me semble que j'avais vu un sujet par rapport à ca.. mais je ne trouves pas... Est-ce que certain d'entre vous connaisse un endroit ou on peut le faire ? L'avez vous essayé ? Est-ce que ça vaut la peine ?
  10. Hey guys I did not want to start the binding war I think that most bindings have evolved alot in the last couple of years, and I wish I could buy a pair of TD3, but only time will be a factor... Perhaps I will like the feeling of the F2 (coming from a burton race binding) the step will be easier It's still fun to see what kind of debates it brings up. In the end, I'm one of the guys who thinks that it's not the gear that makes the rider but the rider that makes the gear. In a perfect learning curve though, if i would have to recommend gear to someone, I would definitly choose a very soft binding/boots setup to a begginer, then he could adjust to stiffer as he progress, but even then some people like riding with gear that can be forgiving.
  11. I'm taking it out for a test ride this weekend, will do tuning after :) I think I was a little bit disapointed when I received the F2 I expected something else I guess. I think they are not as pretty as the other binding, but as long as they do the job.. I had burton race bindings on my Burton Speed, I guess the F2 are superior to those at least.
  12. Oh well, student budget already having a ferrari is good for me, i'll get some new bindings another time... But Bruce did recommend me to take those ones, since they are softer and it seems like the trend would be to use softer bindings on metal boards. I'd love to put some TD3's though.
  13. This is really what those boards are ! I finally steped up to the next level (some could argue over that but w/e) and my very own metal coiler has arrived at home. It was love at first sight, unfortunately I did not go with custom graphics, but the clean white look with the ghost red logo really looks nice. The craftsmanship is impressive I can't imagine how one man can do such a beautifull board alone. It is a Stubby ... 171 cm, 155 cm running lenght, 21 cm waist, 13.2 m radius, 4mm taper I'm also slapping some F2 titanium on it I just need some new boots now
  15. And x10000 for le petit caribou, this place is nuts, and with the race, there will be plenty of racer chicks to looks at ;)
  16. Im going to be there for sure, maybe not all three days though!
  17. Doing my level 2 is more a question of $$.. I'm not sure its worth the investment at the moment, I do teach, but only a dozen of days / year. I'd like to improve my riding, I may take chewy's offer, I hope I could find someone that would coach me for fun. We have a couple of level 1 trying out level 2 this year, we'll see how it goes. Anyways, back on topic, I think that I lost a certain degree of confidence before last year, I took some nasty wipe outs while carving on very steep trails. Combined with transitioning to freeride and busting my front knee, I feel a little weak to rip some carves again.. That cowboy stance really put my knees off their comfort zone (wich was harboot angles) lol I'm way too agressive on my freeride (Elan Vertigo 168 cm) I push it hard on any kind of terrains, and yeah I fall alot :) I need to get my mojo back before steping up on my new board. Any ideas ?
  18. The good body positioning also comes into play, On a freeride / freestyle board it is much more obvious than on a race board. I've been on a freeride for the past year, getting back on the race this year, and it made me rethink about my race technique. If you ride too much facing the nose of your board you'll have the bad habit of having your shoulder out on toeside turns, and you will probably have some problems inherent to your body position while initiating your turns from the bottom up. I'm going to hit the slopes in a few days (and perhaps with a brand new coiler!), I'd like to have something to think about position-wise, any tips could be good. Jack since I'm going with a board with similar specs to you, maybe you have some feedback on how the board likes to be handled, I usually throw myself in the turns I'll be entering the turn with my body more over the nose, going gradually back when I release from the carve into the other. In a perfect world I should probably be perfectly centered at all times.. I need some more thinking, feel free to add your 0.02$
  19. Hey guys, In the past few years I've been teaching snowboard, mostly beginners to intermediate level riders. I did bring some to the carving level. I wanted to have perhaps a bit of feedback on how you would approach the feeling of carving and integrating it in a turn. But first let me detail how I usually proceed : Level of the rider : -Has a good position, centered -Initiate turns with fluidly with all his body (can drive a turn from his shoulders, hips, knees, and feets) -Utilizes very well flexion and extension -Already know how to cross the trail on his edges -Already did some angulation exercices From there : 1) I teach them a single turn (megacarve) by doing a U shape turn on the snow. They start going directly foward, as they put some angulation to initiate the turn they begin to flex to reach the apex of the turn and go back up the hill on both sides. 2)Once they mastered step 1 and can feel various position while doing their megacarve, I introduce the notion of changing the point of flexion-extension in their normal S shaped turn. The extension movement(at the beggining of the turn) which was helping to turn by releasing weight off the board, will now transition (at the end of the turn) slowly enable them to switch the edge between turns. The goal here is to bring some flexion while entering the turn and extension to release from the carve. Some kid really pick it up and can work on there own with these tips, but I'd really like to have some neat tricks. Until I pass another level of teaching wich would probably help me with the teaching part of carving !! (i'm only level 1 ACMS instructor) We are still far from those push-pull turns, keep in mind that its on fairly green-blueish runs with good conditions. Most of the time I try to motivate them to be aggressive in the flexion part to generate a good edgehold, and pop the extension to make a nicer release.. I thought this could be a good discussion, asides from the articles there is on the site... Maybe some instructors could give us some inside, or perhaps some members that had good experiences with friends, family ?
  24. Quel niveau tu as en race ? Est-ce que tu pourrais me coacher ?:)
