How long does it take for USPS (US Mail) to get to Canada??? I sent something to Toronto on Jan 6th and the guy has not got it yet. Assuming it started its journey on the 7th, it has been in transit 10 days so far. What the heck is going on?

How 'bout we leave behind the gun discussion as it is not directly pertinent to the thread? The thread appears to me to be about detaining people without probable cause, inventing 'cause' when none is observed in order to justify access for search, and the creeping loss of individual freedoms and rights because it is easier, less scary and less trouble to 'just go along with it' rather than peacefully assert your rights as a free citizen.

They cannot raise the rib very high because they need to clear hardware on the underside of the plate, depending on where things get placed by the user. save off the image and zoom in... you can see stuff better. The orginal image earlier in the thread may be better for this. edit: I take back my comment above to a certain extent. What I thought were socket head cap screws as part of the underside plate assembly are just there to avoid being loose and getting lost. The rib. spline, spine, whatever you want to call it CAN get somewhat taller... but must still clear the binding attach reinforcements.

What I'm negativly impressed by is the way the officers would not really talk with YS but rather kept issuing the same orders (lawful?) and threats over and over and over. At no time did anyone indicate how or why what the officers were doing had any legal standing. Can someone explain to me the lawful limits of both citizen and officer in this situation? YS was Ghandi-like in his non-combative, non-confronational resistance. However, I'm not sure I would advise my children to do the same. For their own short term well-being I think I'd advise comply with the officers rather than risk harm. So I guess, with me... they've won. :(

Hey JP... that foam block approach sounds like a great 'purpose built' solution. I might have to do that with stuff I can scrounge from work. Our PC and workstation hardware deployment group is across the hall from my department and so there is a lot of packing foam in the recycling bins. I could build up blocks as needed. However... for now I need an approach that can handle anything and everything. This leads me to think that a few tough non-absorbing sheets thrown in between stuff may suffice.

Hey Steve.... any forcast for what late season might be like at Silver? I'm thinking of coming out again for another week of riding for free :D. Since I'm allowed to carry only so much vacation time over each year I'm going to be obligated to burn some or loose it . So with this in mind, got any suggestions for a good week to be out there? Brad EDIT: Cripes! I just checked Slvr Mt schedule and see that they close down almost every Tues & Wed. If I were to make a trip out it would most likely be the last week of March where it looks like they'd be open entire week.

For years I was having trouble keeping my hands warm because I would sweat a lot and my glove insides would get wet and I'd get chilled. I'd carry a 2nd set of gloves and swap mid day. Goretex didn't breathe enough for me. Then I tried a pair of Serius gloves which are what seem to be a heavy fleece with a leather palm. Problem solved! I wear these now in just about any conditions when I'm active. I recently spent the day out in overcast 10 deg F and had no issues at all. However, I needed to be sure not to hold the shafts of my aluminum poles as that sucked out heat big time, but holding the grips was just fine. I still keep a backup pair of gloves in my pack... but rarely use them now. And so, it turns out that my warmest gloves are my coldest gloves.

Holy Crap!!! Sure seems like you are trying to induce boot & binding failure! Don't rock the boot within the boot/binding interface. Think what you will, do what you want... but this does not seem at all safe to me.

Well, DUH !!! I just realized I've been walking right past a cheap suitable solution for the last 3 years. Along one back corridor at work there are several large recycling receptacles for various materials, sorted by type. One container has all sorts of packing materials like tough industrial bubble wrap, sheets of closed cell polyfoam of various firmnesses, foam blocks, etc. I do like the material Sinecure mentions... but the stuff I can scrounge is FREE! My first thoughts were to buy a couple sheets (if I could find) of the neoprene that diver's wet suits are made from with fabric on one or both sides.

Girl Count goes up by one more! My wife Dawn will be joining us at SES'11. Last year she did try a bit of carving at WTF'10, and this season is looking forward to getting deeper! Unfortunately, her joining is because one of our group has decided it really isn't in his best interest to hit SES before being recovered enough from injury. Our group will miss him.

This is a good reason for chasing down the person and getting name, address, phone, etc. They should be made to pay for the Dr. appt and all follow-on care. If you have to cancel her trip they should be made to pay any costs you cannot recoup. If its a kid that slams you... parents get the tab. This is getting to be like hit and run with a car! It could be considered assault. If you are in a group having someone chase down the offender would be possible. Not really possible if you need to stop and care for the victim.
