BTW...I got my board tuned at Philthy O's in Tannersville the other week....great place...I recommend it. Phil Theo does careful hand tuning to your desired specs.

I agree...there is a different style to it.

That story sounds just like what happened to me. Last year I bought stiffer softboots and had a revelation. I started to carve and never looked back. I got hardboots and an alpine board and have progressed. I think alpine equipment is worth buying. That said, I still use my freeride board (donek sasquatch 170). I think there is room for improvement on the freeride board. However, alpine equipment would permit you to do certiain types of turns more easily and to a more extreme degree.

I was there from 11:30 to 4 and i didnt see you guys (i had a black jacket, red helmet, and donek FC...later switched to freeride). I havent had any real problems with the high schoolers. I do take issue with the under 14 crowd. They dont care about anyone else's property. Today 2 kids successively ran into my freeride board...and after confronting them they dont even apologize. Its rediculous. Seems like thier parents never tell them how to behave. Maybe i scared them off. Other than that I had fun...finally got some carving in.

So...after I tried the $65 fix, I decided that it was not comfortable enough. Not being able to go back to that particular bootfitter, I went to Surefoot in NYC. I went with the orthotics...for 190 - including lifetime adjustments and shell stretching - it seemed well worth it. I tried out the boots today and they are 95% ok. Phew! I can alpine snowboard again.

I would like some guidance. If there is enough interest, we could have a group event.

try to reach for your front boot with your uphill (outside) hand...this forces you to face forward.
