  2. this dude's kessler looks like it has no upturn in the nose: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/2006/01/11/gallery.snowboard/index.8.html
  3. Thats a crazy amount of edge for that length. Whats a shred nose? Let us know how that board rides.
  4. I agree....this is NOT the board for political jibba jabba
  5. The guys at startingate were cool about tuning before...im sure they would let me watch. Unfortunately they are located in VT, and I dont know when im going back. Anyone know of a good shop in NJ? Otherwise im probably gonna send my board in the mail for a tune if it comes to that.
  6. I got a donek FC II this season and the factory bevels have not been touched. I also bought a file guide for a 2 deg side bevel and a decent file. Should I just go ahead and file away the factory bevel to get the 2 deg side bevel? If so, how would i know when i have filed enough? Should I go to a shop and have them tune it for me?
  7. i would like one too! :D I'll cover the costs.
  8. this section would be incomplete without this link: http://www.alpinecarving.com/ovid.html
  9. My specs are similar to yours, and i got a donek FC 179 and it works great. It does make smallish turns, but at my level thats fine. I hsould mention that i wear mondo 31 boots and bought the oppenh fc which is a little wider than the FC2. there is a used FC 2 in the classifieds
  10. This thread died and was resurrected.
  11. awesome lol. Windham over hunter? I havent had enough experience to make a final judgment.
  12. I would get a used alpine setup with hardboots. I can carve pretty well on my freeride board, and my angles are set up at 15 and 0. That said, carving on the alpine equipment is like stepping up to the next level. Its more solid, confidence inspiring, but sometimes tiring on the quads. It will take a little getting used to, but its worth it.
  13. you could try www.vimeo.com for video hosting. if you search for video hosting on google more options should become apparent. On a side note......DAMN...that looks like fun.:D
  14. dont listen to me, but when i moved my angles forward, lol, turning became easier. (from 55 60 to 60 65) im an anomoly:freak3:

  16. Donek Inclines are great and not prohibitively expensive. If you are upgrading from a custom this is the board I would suggest. Perhaps a Prior ATV would be ok. These boards are good for carving, but as far as I know are not BX specific. Ride also makes some really stiff boards, but I wouldnt buy one. I had one awhile back and the Donek beats it in every performance category. Another recent thread discussed a Palmer BX board...although i cant comment on it. Steepwater snowboards makes some large sidecut freeride boards that might fit the bill. Madd advertises some BX decks as well.
  17. I find the TD2 step ins more easy to get into than the cateks because the bails spring backwards on the TD2s and not on the cateks.
  18. I have a tendency to bring the board up when i jump...thats why it looks weird. Yah....I know im not bending. It was only my 5th day on plates, and the end of the day. My form will evolve. Stratos pros are kindof stiff too. Not to amenable for forward lean. I dont know where that second video originated. I got the link from alpinecarving.com.
  19. Wrecked? Never! lol... Here is a link to that vid : http://clips1.vimeo.com/video_files/2005/12/26/vimeo.40941.mov The people at Startingate are great. Maybe I misunderstood them. They get my highest recommendation. More video to come as I progress this season. Check out the jumps in this video : http://www.eurosport.com/home/pages/v4/l0/s10001/playermultimedia_lng0_rub9_spo10001_ven18190.shtml
  20. That was me. Thanks for the tips...good riding with you as well. It was an awesome week at Stratton. I was a little surprised when someone at the Startingate told me that Doneks come tuned 2/1. I suspected that that information was incorrect and that I better be absolutely sure before i start sharpening the edges with my file guide. Good thing i waited, now i have to have my board tuned. Here is a pic from that week at Stratton (hope this works, 5th day on plates):
