  1. try a slalom race, its much more fun to race down a hill.
  2. sucks when people dont sell to Canadians....
  3. This is so sad to see. The truth is that no animal has EVER wronged a human, yet we have a long list of wrongs against the animal world....Im not talking about hunting or fishing either(they have a defined and useful purpose). Animals that attack people arent doing anything malicious, they just dont know any better and are acting on instinct. We as humans seem to have no problem killing animals for fun, profit,....etc. The world really would be better off without us.....not that I plan on leaving or anything:smashfrea I just wish more people had the kind of deep respect for other creatures that i and many others share. Humans are a disease.
  4. So this skier I mentioned just had his lower leg AMPUTATED! Incredibly scary stuff.
  5. anyone see the crash from the DH event this weekend. Skier hits the gate, goes flying and only one ski comes off, the other basically spins his lower leg over 180 degrees....destroyed his lower leg. He got knocked out too. I know its kinda unrelated, but it shows that even ski systems are unpredictable...
  6. When your all out of fresh water I wont be surprised. Its not really fair to the US to be compared to Canada......it just isnt. Im sorry, maybe someday you will elect an intelligent person to run the show....I bet you vote McCain in...........
  7. yeah, George can really rip. Fun racing with him,and the whole COSS crew is awesome.
  8. do you know something we dont John? Those have been out of production as long as most new trucks have been in production. Is he making more? Try the GOG rear yet? Pretty useful, and faster angles changes than a PVD.
  9. born and raised in Canada, snow is a fact of life in the winter...well, good winters anyway. However, there are LOTS of people who don't know how to drive here too. I once stayed with a family in Tennesse on a school band tour. There was about an inch of sleety kinda slush on the ground and they made me(a 17 yo stranger) drive their car to the school. There were a dozen cars in various ditches along the way. Had to control my laughter.
  10. Would have been fun to watch these people freak out at their first ever look at snow.... http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/weather/02/15/socal.storm.ap/index.html
  11. thanks...im a novice at the park stuff, but I love it!. And that park is 10 min from my front door:biggthump.
  12. well, thats John Gilmour for ya. But its more fun when its head to head.
  13. cant imagine that would be too much fun dressed as a power ranger. Its mostly the boot/binding thing thats scary. Maybe the same thing with a larger concave platform.
  14. yeah, and then you lean forward a bit, lose balance and do 6 freakin cartwheels before stopping and checking to see that everything is still attached(got it on video somewhere). I love waterskiing, but I wish I had a boat that produced as little wake as that, our is used for wakeboarding too....so air is not uncommon on the ski.
  15. funny enough, I dont really ride anything under 6 feet. Not a mini guy, but I have mad respect for the ability it takes. I love bigger transition and bowled corners.....SPEEEEEED!!!!!. Airs take balls for sure. I just love all types of skating. So, who has some vids of themselves skating?
  16. Haslam has mad style..... Cheese and Crackers anyone? I always think of this vid when I think of creative skating. its the best mini ramp vid of all time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZtmrunVXs4 <----please watch this!! Transition skating rules, other than carving on snow you cant get those kind of Gs any other way.
  17. id take a slalom skateboard over that thing anyday. Thats the most dangerous thing ive seen in a while. You stop how exactly?

    Stratton...

Gonna be at Stratton from the 18th-23rd, black/white/red prior wcr, all grey suit and totally blacked out face! Would love to learn from some experienced riders.
  19. Nice to see this thread. There really isnt anyone out there with more slalom knowledge than mr JG. I can remember racing with him at the Farm race in 2003, and seeing him at the gathering in 2002 when I first tried the sport. Slalom racing is such a good way to cross train, I snowboard as a way to keep fit for the summer race season. The skill set is so similar. Thanks for getting this talk stated Rick. Ill add another vid, this is from the finals of the Canadian Nationals from last season. Thats Adam Shwippert on the left, a really talented young guy from VT, and a total ripper on an alpine board. Thats my crusty ass on the right.
  20. I think it would be cool to try something like this at MSLM too. I was talking to a couple carvers there about it today. Its public so we can do it anytime. Might be fun to show up there en masse.
  21. I will also be missing this one one I think, not a safe drive from my area. Its not the drive there, its the drive home while im tired and sore. Its a 2.5 hr drive in good conditions. Ill see what the radar looks like in the morning.
  22. guess I put this in the wrong section. Was looking for locals who can pysically show me.
  23. Is there anyone here who would have the time to give me a hands on tutorial for waxing and tuning my own gear? I can offer a case of beer. I really want to learn how to take care of my gear so i dont have to worry about it at a shop. Thanks. Mike
  24. I love the Pavel boards, of course, I am slightly biased, but I think they have been speaking for themselves lately. Super fun guys on the team too!.
