  1. All, We have two full groups with a couple of folks on the standby list for a third group. I talked with Mike Jacoby and he will be able to join in as a coach should we get a couple more riders registered. Many of you probably know Mike's background, but for those who don't, he has been the world cup overall champion in both slalom and GS and most recently member of the 1998 Olympic team at Nagano. This is a great opportunity to learn freeride and race tips from someone who has literally been at the very top of the sport. Again, if we get two more riders we move to three groups. We are rapidly approaching the hard cut off time to guarantee lodging and slope space so if you are still interested please go to the snowperformance site and contact Gavin ASAP. Thanks, Sean snowperformance
  2. Tim, I will have two sets of Bomber TD2 demos - one step in and one clamp- with 0,3 and 6 degree disks as well as an assortment of Donek axis, freecarve and hopefully a couple of race decks. Once I hear back from Sean I will send out a full list of what will be on hand via email to all the participants. Look forward to seeing you again. -Sean
  3. All, We do in fact have two groups already booked. If we get 4 more riders (that would be three in addition to Gary) we will do our very best to add on a third. It will be exceedingly tough to get a well qualified alpine coach on very short notice so if you still would like to attend we need to hear from you very soon. On the bright side, Mammoth just got another couple of feet of snow so conditions are looking sweet.:) Thanks, Sean snowperformance
  4. All, Currently we have 10 paid registrations. Another half dozen or so have told us they are very interested in attending. Since we are committed to small group sizes, we will cap the numbers at 12 and wait list any additional interested folks. If we get to 15 we will contact another coach and attempt to add on a third group. The bottom line is that time is getting tight on logistics so please don't delay in contacting us if you are still serious about joining us . Mark Harris is definitely coming, so you racer chasers ought to have alot of fun screaming around the hill with him. The conditions are looking great and it looks like we will have a very fun group so I look forward to seeing some of you on the hill this summer. Regards, Sean snowperformance
  5. Gee, now I know where I saw you before Jack: You were an extra in "Hot Dogs." I think I can actually hear Wham UK in the background of the pic:p
  6. Nekdut, Thanks for the plug for our freecarve/race camp. I kind of balked at posting anything immediately on Bomber because I did not want it to appear that the Snowperformance Camp was intended to steal any of Phil's thunder. We had in fact planned to run our camp on May 20th but were unable to get a committment from the resort as there is a bunch of US team training around then. Since we already had some folks with money sent in who wanted to check out Mammoth, we went to the next best date available. I am encouraged by the responses to Phil's post because 1) These guys are great race coaches and 2) it shows that there are more and more riders interested in the sport, especially at the competitive level. On the bright side, I have gotten alot of positive responses, especially from the Tahoe contingent, so I am really looking forward to checking out the scene at Mammoth.:) Regards, Sean Snowperformance
  7. Tom, Great pics- enjoyed riding with you and Lisa at the SES. IMO, Jack is absolutely spot on with his "bottoms up" approach to explaining a well executed carved turn. The more active you are with the joints in your lower body- namely your ankles, knees and to some extent, your hips, the less you are prone to want to use the torso and hands to get the board on edge and pointed in a new direction. A really simple way to emphasize that point is to simply ride with your hands on your hips or behind your back. This drill will not only limit the tendency to twist and break at the waist, but it also makes you very aware of how well you are initiating the turn with the lower joints. If the hands fly out to regain balance, take it down a notch on a mellower run until you can do linked carved turns without any upper body initiation. Easy to do it and gives the rider lots of feedback. See you next year. -Sean
  8. FWIW, I run a clamp on the front and a step in on the back foot with my TD2's ( I know- to do this you need two sets of binders or buy extra parts... maybe we should ask Fin to sell a combo kit?) Makes it easy to get in & out in a snap, especially during clinics and video work, and I kinda like the feeling of having my front foot clamped in. This is merely a personal preference, but I fear a busted/improperly seated heel assembly alot more than having a TD2 Bail break. -Sean
  9. ... sounds like perhaps you'll have to pull Mulder and Scully out of retirement to I.D. this one. Really enjoyed riding with you. Particularly impressed that you had that free floating radical jumping around in your joints and that you were able to ride so well. See you next year. -Sean ;)
  10. For simplicity's sake I think the easiest way to do the sign ups is first come, first served at the demo tents. Since they will run over 4 days I don't think there will be much of a problem getting everyone in. Sound OK?
  11. All, The SES clinic times and locations are now included in the main events schedule. Just got the kitchen pass so I will be able to stay thru the Saturday clinic. Clinics will be open to paid SES participants (those who pay for the events and demos) and I will have sign up sheets at the demo tents beginning on Tuesday. Looking forward to next week, Sean snowperformance
  12. The pic was a combo of the Sun Peaks Camp, my 40th bday, devious friends (especially Gavin's wife) and a few too many cervezas. Amazingly enough, the indelible marker came off. What they say really is true- the first thing you lose when you imbibe is your judgement.
  13. I will post a full schedule in this thread NLT this coming Wednesday. Fin came up with a schedule and locations- I just want to double check with him before we put it on the site. The schedule will also be placed in the main schedule of SES events and also posted at the demo tents. -Sean
  14. All, I have been approached about running some clinics at SES. The current plan is to do morning clinics on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and probably Saturday as well. They will last approximately 2 hours and be capped at 10 riders per clinic. Still working out the final details with Fin & Michelle, but these will most likely be free for SES event participants who have registered and paid for the event. The locations and times will be posted on the main SES schedule by Fin. Can't wait to get out there- a whole lotta mud here in the warm northwest. -Sean Snowperformance
  15. FWIW, AASI III, PSIA III and did a CASI (Canadian) II Snowboard Race cert as well. Thought the training with the Canadian folks was by far the best alpine specific event ever attended (week long super series at Sunshine- did lots of drills, athlete development topics, course setting and free riding). Did attend TD training with the national demo team guys this fall. Naturally I was the only guy to show up on plates, but at least they were accepting of the fact. Always thought the real way to get the AASI folks interested in jumping back into the alpine tent would be to do some demos at one of the season's end symposiums. Lots of work though...
  16. Pretty much agree with what Jeff had to say. I would start out on Sunburst lift & hit 5 mile for a lap or two. Next would be under Sundance- final pitch has some pretty awesome super fast rollers. Next I would do Crystal and come down frontside. Morrisey is has some flat spots in it but holds up well as it is less ridden as well as colder. Jeff- where is your place? I have a townhouse in Snow Creek Village- got to hook up for some turns some time.
  17. Snow is holding up nicely, temps are dropping, and there are flurries in the forecast. Unfortunately I can't get back up there til late Feb but I just spoke with a friend up there and got a pretty good report. -Sean
  18. Not my wife. Put her on her own setup, spent some quality time getting her dialed in & hooked on the carve, and things are going swell. Sean:cool:
  19. Bummer about the Cascades. Every western WA area presently sux the big one as well. Guess I shouldn't rub it in too much lest we get schwaked with a drought next season, but Sun Peaks is rocking and rolling! Sean:cool:
  20. I will be at the SES from Tues thru Friday. Alot of folks are asking so I will plan to run one clinic a day. As soon as I can figure out the details with Fin & Michelle I will post the info on this thread. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Aspen. -Sean Snowperformance.com
  21. Jim- interested & will email you offline. -Sean
  22. cool- look forward to meeting you at Aspen. If I can't get up to Sun Peaks end of Feb I am absolutely going to be there mid March. I believe I can get extra tix thru the fellow who rents our place out- good for a few bucks off.-Sean
  23. Hmmm... PN3 in the line shack? Get on the skipper's bad side? What time/squadrons were you in? I was a Cougar (VAQ-139) on the Indy when we did that Gulf thing for George the 1st, then did a turn as an IP in 129 before bailing for the reserves in 95. This thread is definitely taking a wierd turn...
  24. Actually- I'm the Snowperformance guy who owns the condo at Sun Peaks, not Gavin. I'm planning to do the Summit session in Feb but might try to get up to Sun Peaks for a few days in late Feb/early March. If I do I'll post it here. If I have extra room I would be happy to let a few folks stay over. The place is ski in/out and there is a shuttle service from Kamloops so you don't need wheels at the resort- probably need a car to get there from Kelowna though. The conditions up there have been fantastic from pretty much the beginning of the season. -Sean
  25. Kitty Hawk? Bagged a few traps on that boat a while ago- Prowler driver in a former life and did the Midway swap for the Indy before the Kitty. Drop me a line (offline) when you have a chance.-Sean
