Here in NH we not only have the "Give Cyclists 3ft. space when passing , but an additional 1 ft. of space for every 10mph increase in posted road speed. So 4ft space on a posted 40mph road, 5ft on a 50mph posted road.

2020-21 season is winding down; time to look forward to next year. And wouldn’t your soft boot carver be much improved - both looks and function - with a bunch of carbon lashed to it?

I've heard good things about Denver sports lab
+1 on this. It’s been a couple years but I’ve taken a handful of boards there for grinding, structuring and waxing. If I’m not doing it myself, I’ll take mine there. I love the concept of the hot box! Did nice work at a reasonable price. Purportedly started by a couple of World Cup ski tuners who got tired of traveling (and probably being cold all the damn time). The shop ain’t much to look at, but that only increases the charm.

@daveoYou might think that, I couldn't possibly comment.
Sadly, I have tiny, doll hands so the truth is in there somewhere.

Now’s size chart only shows small, medium or large sizes. What size boot does XL fit?
Like the friggin’ moron I am, I assumed - like everything else related to my feet - they were XL. They are in fact merely large, fitting size 10-13 boots. Clearly I need a fact checker...

Now O-Drive large (10-13) bindings from the 2019-20 season (the Covid era!), used two days. Feel free to read all of Now's marketing fluff here. They're the exact same bindings as this year's non-Covid release, except they don't have the regrettable lime trim. They are light, stiff and responsive, with a moderate amount of cushioning underfoot. Straps are comfy and plush with good lockdown. And carbon. So much carbon. Are you snowboarding or flying the f****** Space Shuttle?!?
If you know anything about the O-Drives, retail price is obscene, they sell out every year and almost never go on sale. With only two days of use, these are near new with no noticeable signs of wear.
Bindings come with all the accoutrements (e.g., box, two sets of bushings, etc.). And all that carbon.
$400 Paypal Friends and Family/send money, plus shipping (in that bona fide Now box!). I'll find the cheapest shipping option.

Setup: Cheater 170 (26cm waist, 8.5m radius); Catek FR2 Frankenbindings (23” stance, 31F, 26R); K2 Thraxis boots
I was hoping to demo the wide version (27.5cm waist) but the standard 26 was the only option, so I adjusted with steeper angles than I’d like. The short sidecut makes for a pretty decent platform at a 23” stance, but let’s just say that Fuego box wasn’t getting anywhere near the edge of the board.
It took a bit for me to get adjusted to the Cheater, but I suspect that had more to do with the unfamiliar stance angles than the board. Once I found my bearings, I had a really fun time with it. On groomed runs turn initiation is easy. The board held a nice line on gentler pitches and turns really tightened up with additional input. I was a bit nervous about fully committing on steeper runs due to boot-out concerns, but the Cheater did everything I asked. Once up on edge, it's solid. It’s billed as a carving board, but I found it to be a worthy crud-buster as well, enabling me to make some very satisfying surf turns in crème brulee type edge snow. It also showed some all-around chops in the bumps, flashing quick, controlled turnability.
I found the Cheater to be more damp than lively. Easy turning, smooth running, very versatile. If the 177 came in a 28cm (or thereabouts) width, I probably own one already. After a couple short days with the Cheater, I found myself missing it when I got back on my Hazelwood. Maybe that’s why it’s called the Cheater?
Thanks to Mats and Tom for making it available!

Astute observation. It is the nature of pandemics to ruin everything. The Europeans probably would have said the same thing about the Black Death, but most of them were too busy dying or burying the dead to complain. Of course, everything back then sucked so there was a bit of a floor effect. They may not even have noticed the worsening.

You know what else ruins weekday carving? Spring break. Oh that's this week? We've been at Monarch and the place is crawling with kids - including mine - who have no business terrorizing the hill on a weekday. I mean, what the hell?!? The little bastards ought to be in lockdown 23 hours a day. Or working. Maybe Pakistan is onto something with child labor. I bet you can still carve there safely on weekdays.

I'm with you here, my brother. This forum is incontrovertible proof that all old guy snowboarders f*****g rule!
