  1. Garmish is so limited and ususally the coverage at this time of the year is not ideal. Also not many other alternatives in the area. I would definitely try switzerland. The snow coverage for this time of the year is much better than Germany and once you are there, you can always drive to other resorts within reasonable time frames.
  2. How about posting your question on: www.tahoecarvers.com
  3. I was in Kirkwood on Friday. The weather and conditions were great, and indeed no other carvers at all. There was a small problem with their power generator (little fire) that made them stop the operations for about an hour between 1.10 and 2.10 pm, other than that GREAT. I need a pair of good gloves!!..the second (new but cheap) pair are wearing off FAST, and the season is not even completely started everwhere. what is the "bomber" ultimate good glove brand?

    POGO Opportunity!

    ,... and the price is ... ?
  6. 49% weeeeeeeeee mega rip off You live in europe (as I lived till a few years ago). you are supposed to get ripped off by taxes. I usually try to find a buddy who travels and have them bring my stuff that I order abroad as their personal baggage. 49% on an item close to 500$ is almost half your ticket to go and get it yourself.
  7. I am caught a dilemma like that. Last saturday I tried my Proton 178 (14m scr) for the first time and it was indeed far more carving material and stable than my other 163 cm (9.5 mscr)board. BUT, it was not easy to go in the middle of the crowded part of the slope and I needed ROOM to get myself through. I'd like to know what's best to address this prolem: 1. Get a board with the same scr (14m) but shorter length (like proton 172) 2. Get a board with shorter length and shorter scr (like LTD 170cm , 11.4 scr) Note to myself: practicing harder and getting better with the same long board and long scr should also help my problem.
  8. Who has tried an oxygen limited edition 2002 board? I'd like to find other rider's experiences with this board. The specs are ; length 170cm and 234,185,237mm (sc radius + 11.5 m). I know a lot of people who have oxygen protons,..but nobody who can tell me about this limited edition one. Here is a picture of one of these on ebay; http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7111522768&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

  10. ..................and Fin could talk for himself. After all, he is the moderator of this board.
  11. regarding the numbers, get a measurment tape with civilized metric units, measure carefully the running length, waist, tail and tip width all in mm. With those numbers available, one can calculate the side cut radius, or post them here and we will calculate it for you.

    Helmet style

Just the look of it adds another 50 m/h to your setup. :D
  13. Sorry I can't add much substance at this moment. My Heads are to be delivered any day now,....and I will take them to slopes this coming weekend and let you know afterwards. I chose for Heads based on 2 other carver's experiences (met them personally on slopes) that tried Raichle's and then these Heads and they were very upbeat about Heads.
  14. Boots first!,...Boots second,.....board, bindings.
  15. This must be some misunderstanding. I bought a pair of raichle's from Bomber and I got excellent service plus prompt delivery.
  16. Thanks Randy, I am trying to get myself excused from this stupid halloween party next saturday and smoggle myself to kirkwood. Let's hope I can manage it.
  17. They got one of the (if not THE) biggest indoor ski/snowboard facilities in the world, big enough to host international events.
  18. Randy, If UPS is working for you,..why HEAD? I heard the LTD shop in south tahoe is going to carry HEADs,..I'm gonna stop by and check them out within the next few weeks.
  19. The "looks" is controversial, but I studied a lot of reviews as a friend was asking me to help her buy one of these for her, and they were mostly very upbeat. The space inside this vehicle is unbelivable...add the superior Honda engineering and reliability and fair price...and then the question remains,...do I like how it looks? P.S. far more practical than a MINI for sure.
  20. Yesterday we went to kirkwood (very good coverage for this time of the year) and yes,..my raichle 423s were hurting me again (already hitmolded the thermoliners). On the chair my buddy with raichle boots was also complaing about his boots "always" hurting him (he had hitmolded them too). Funny thing is..we ran into this other carver there with HEAD boots, and he also started complaining about his 2 previous raichle boots,..being so uncomfortable as hell. He was happy with his new HEAD though. The general notion here is that raichle boots are one of the best, but I beg to differ now. Used to think it was me, but now I hear and see more people complaining. BTW, I did all the testing and it is the right size for me,..I really could use good boots. P.S. years ago..I had old pair of raichles (413??) and UPS (second generation/pink color)boots,..and those were both good and comfortable.
  21. Thomas, A few weeks ago I bought a pair of race physics from this guy,..I made a payment by paypal,..then he got back to me and said that he made a mistake,..and he had not race physics,..but carreer physics and tried to sell those to me. I said that I absolutely want the other model and asked for a refund. Within 24 hours I got my full refund by paypal again. So, it was a mistake in my case and he acted promptly. Fair is fair.
  22. I hate how that guy puts a Bush rant and plugs his stupid website It is pretty stupid indeed..maybe he is on some crusade :D
  23. Many riders including pro's (like Chris Klug, US team) ride with the "race" version of the Burton bindings (don't know if he still does). I had them and I had no problem with them (although again people report breaking those as well)..here is an ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21248&item=7109157826&rd=1 I believe these were also for sale (used) in the classified section of this forum. look there,..
  24. My friend back in europe had this bindings and he was around 75 kg (how many lbs?), he was a beginner also and after 3 years he still has them with no complains. Now if you are relatively heavy (>180lbs) and you are going to push the board really hard, or make jumps and stress the bindings,...the bails may snap or some other part may break! The horror stories around Burton bindings started with a number of them breaking and snapping as you can read in the review section of this site, but one should remember that the number of Burton bindings produced and still in use out there is huge in comparison to any other bindings. You can almost see them on any ski resort, anywhere on the planet. So, the probabilities of damage reports increases relatively as well. just my 2 cents
