  1. F2 Speedster 166 Eff edge 1470 Nose 253 Waist 200 Sidecut R 9.8 Rec. Wt. 75 + KG Burton Speed 160 Eff. edge 1400 Waist 200 Sidecut R 9.62 Sidecut dpth 25.5 The F2 is very clean, no bottom problems at all, no nicks, no dings. The top sheet has a couple of small scuffs and 1 nick that I'll file out. $225 + shipping from Minnesota The Burton Speed is perfect. Not a scratch on it. $175. I'll take a trade in comparable condition for something between 162 and 168 with a waist no bigger than 190, and something lighter in weight. (My Burton Ultraprimes are perfect for softer conditions and weight, but fall apart on Minnesota Hardpack.) These boards are too wide for my size 8.5's and 150 lbs. I have pictures, but can't figure out how to get them on the thread.
  2. If no takers, why don't you try to get a Thermaflex liner and a footbed. Should take up all that space and have the most comfortable fit you can get? You can check some of the Raichle soft boots and Raichle ski boots at the used shops or ebay, and probably score a pair pretty inexpensively Good luck.
  3. Here's two boards that are a bit too much for my puny little___. Not quite a 150lbs, and almost always soft conditions (on the snow that is). Also have a pair of Burton Reactors, Size 28 or 91/2almost no use on them and a pair of F2 Varioflex plates with built in cants. Extremely easy to adjust, just a couple of turns with a phillips.
  4. All of a sudden strange email addresses started showing up, and I started deleting as fast as I could. Sorry for those who I didn't answer. Please reference them to bomber--I don't plan on needing Viagra for another couple of years.
  5. Want to trade a F2 Speedster 166 SL for a 163 Silberpfeil. The Speedster is a little too wide for me. This is the model Silver and Grey with the "ROUTE 66" emblem on it. Bottoms and edges excellent, top usual scrapes and smudges. Also have a Burton Speed 160, excellent both top and bottom, same deal, just a bit too wide for me. In other words I'm looking for Something comperable in about a 185 to 190 width.
  6. For all mountain riding 66 Front, 2 Degree Cant 45 Rear, 2 Degree Cant This is the stance that I've been riding for 9 years. Tried a little variance but this worked the best. Tried running down a icy hill and looked at where my feet ended up. 66 and 45. This gives me great leverage for quick board swings and still very good forward backward movements. It doesn't work that great for strickly carving on the heel side. The upside is that it's great for bumps and powder and making lateral changes in a hurry, and much more balanced for landing jumps. You don't tend to fall over if your center of balance is less than perfect. Experimentation is one of the great things about this sport. So much can change with angle and forward backward changes, plus everything else that goes on. PS. Boots are always in the "WALK MODE". Next time I'm on a strickly carving hill, I'm trying a steeper rear angle, but that's only cause it 550 vert, and not much else to do, so I might as well experiment and follow my own advice. When I first started out, I brought a screwdriver and changed angles every 2 runs (Bring a flat plastic in the case screwdriver cause you don't want to fall on a hard plastic handle.)
  7. I have had several disconcerting nights trying to figure out which piece of equipment to purchase. I wanted everyone to know that this site is one of the best for technical advice from people who have obviously used and abused equipment for many years. There really isn't that many sites around where people get so much into their gear and really relish sliding around in it It's a feeling of comfort to know that so many of you spend so much of your free time experimenting with the gear and are also willing to let others use it when they may be in the area. I am sad to say that as attractive as this may sound, I am remiss to try someone else equipment as I would hate to potentially break it and/or bring it back less than perfect/or with wax missing, and residue from slippery slopes on it. I have time to write this because the resorts up here in the Pacific Northwest are almost all closed due to lack of snow and rain, and 60 degree temperatures. Though I have not gone out to purchase the JENNA JAMESON PRO MODEL, I'm sure I would on your adVICE if I was in the market for new BINDINGS. I guess no matter how bad the conditions are, I don't need that kind of gear
  8. This is a brand new Alp 150. This was my board of choice for slamming in between Piste and Off-piste. It floats well in up to 5 or 6" of powder, and carves reasonably well in groomers, but it doesn't hold on really hard pack. Has a good flex pattern and low swing weight. I weigh in at about 150 and it works. This is not a high speed hold on anything board. It is meant for a more recreational carve and for those who want a more versitile stick than just a race stick. Also would be really a good intermediate stick for a woman or a lighter rider. A little softer flex for a 150 pounder, and a stiffer flex for a 120 pounder. Overall length 150 Running length 126 Effective edge 1295 Waist width 195 Sidecut radius 8.46 Stance is 15 Back Powder Blue with Wolf's Head on Tip, Nice Graphics. Still in the wrapper. I'm keeping my other one. I like the Board Still in the Wrapper $150.
  9. Spider sit directly on the board with 3 or 4 hole configuration attached with 3 or 4 short screws. Bottom half of disk has grooves that fit over the 4 legs of the spider preventing the disk from rotating. These grooves run completely around the disk to accomodate heel lift and cant. The top disk fits into the upper grooves of the plate and also rotate to allow changing cant from 0 to 8 degrees. The spider has a locking dog and machine holes for binding screws. You mount the binding directly to the spider. You could Paypal me at my email address yacantbuycool@comcast.net. and I could ship those out in the next day or two.
  10. Have one 4 or 3 hole cant left. Consists of two 7" disks and a metal spider. Goes from 1 to 8 degrees and can be turned to include a bit of heel lift if you so desire. These are Burton's. $30 postage paid.
  11. Which of the Salt Lake resorts are banning snowboards? Which are the best for Glades. Which are the best for Steeps and Chutes? Could use a list in descending order of resorts with the best off-piste terrain. Not too worried about the Groomers at this time. Need to get the Heart pumping. March 5th through the 12th are our actual on snow days. I'll be boarding with one of the best skiers I've ever seen. He's good to go in all conditions, so that's what we're planning on doing.
  12. I went before the shiek. Maybe, I'll have a change of heart. I'm headed off to Salt Lake this year. ($40.50 Extended Stay America Room split 2 ways). Aside from that, remember "If you're not part of the Cure, then you're part of the problem." At least we should bring it to the Attention of the Resorts, or maybe we should just do nothing, and accept our fate like those cute little Veal Calves. It's everyone's duty to stick up for your fellow man, well maybe not everyone, and that seems to be the pervading philosophy of certain segements of our society. Where do you fall in?
  13. Count me in the lower stratas of the Economic Curve. I've been out to Jackson twice in the last 5 years. Split on a room 3 ways and flew on frequent flier miles (From Business related materials). I ate at the breakfast buffet and packed sandwiches. Got the best deal I could on tickets. Ask me if I'd be pissed if I couldn't have ridden the Tram. The delineation for the Private Sector, and the Government are becoming more and more blurred all the time. It seems the ways of the Government are now following what is good for the Private Sector and not the People (Hallibuton, Mining Industry, Forest Industry, Medical Industry, Credit Card Companies, Big Banking, and soon to come "THE INVESTMENT INDUSTRY--soon to be known as SOCIAL SECURITY), That's not the way it's supposed to be. Remember "Of the People, for the People and by the People." The Private Sector can do what it wants, as long as it recognizes the rights of its Patrons, for which it has Contractural Obligations with. In this respect, I imagine it would be assumed that a Season Pass or a Daily Pass would give the holders a right to all sections of the Lift System, except when conditions are poor, and events that benefit a group or a club (Carving Sessions), that would be open to all. I thinks it's a bit of a stretch to suggest that a group that could buy the whole lift, simply because they can qualify just because they have the money.
  14. Free enterprise is great till it starts to infringe on the little guy. For example, how about the guy that buys the season's pass at Jackson with the expetentcy that he's going to be able to ride the Tram. There should be a disclaimer that says "IF SOMEONE HAS MORE MONEY THAN YOU--TOUGH ____" Granted the Mainstream Ski Resorts are for the most part free enterprise, but that shouldn't disrupt the rights of those that have paid for use of services, because someone else has paid more. I understand about the lessons thing, and Ski Patrol, but that is just a momentary disruption. Hell, get the Rich SOB's off the Poor Man's slopes, and give them their own private enclave. Just don't take the Poor Man's pleasure and rights for the sake of extra profit. From all that I read the "SAVIOR OF THE SKI RESORTS" was the Snowboarder. The masses (especially the young and counterculture, if everyone is wearing baggy pants down to their butt cracks is counterculture) just couldn't relate to the Elitist Ski Industry. Big shift in demographics and income levels. Try to imagine all those newfound Sliders abandoning the Mountains again. Interesting fact was that 69% of snowboarders came from "NON SKIING FAMILYS". So the Rich have enough to go where they want, but why at our expense. Further, tell me how many of the big resorts could exist on 1 or 2 Sheik visits a year? That's just what's wrong with the Government--"FOLLOW THE MONEY", which seems good to some for the moment, has disasterous consequences for all. SOAP BOX----SOAP BOX.
  15. Here's just a portend to the future. Resist and work to eliminate the rich before they ruin it all. http://money.cnn.com/2005/01/05/pf/goodlife/ski_amenities/index.htm?cnn=yes I especially like the one about renting the whole Tram at Jackson.
  16. Salt Lake Hotel Motel Holiday Inn. If your girl starts acting up, then you take her friend We got 9 nights at Extended Stay America, 2 Double beds and non-smoking for $40.50/night in Union. Actually the girl wasn't acting up, can't get away from work, and I'm taking my friend from years back (Male). Thanks again for the help. Dates on the snow are 4 March to 12 March.
  17. Why is it when things are so great, there's hardly anyone around? My problem exactly. Too far away right now. Let's see someone jump on this.
  18. My thanks to you who helped me out with the info. It is already coming in handy. Part of the reason that this is the only Board that I've ever joined.
  19. Headed out to Salt Lake in late Feb. or early march, and was looking for info on reasonable Hotel/Motels on the East side of Salt Lake. Looking for easy access to all the resorts. Also anybody know where to pick up "Local Tickets". Grocery Stores or Sporting Goods shops, etc.
  20. Rossignol Plates with adjustable cants are sold. Thanks
  21. Here's another thought. I'm not quite so sure that the technical aspects of a board (sidecut, radius) are quite as relevant if the turns are performed off the snow. A little air goes a long way to reduce the friction during a turn, consequently a board that likes to go up as much as across would be an asset for a person that wants to board the bumps without relying solely on carving. Ya be a whole lot faster down the fall line popping across the bumps. Aside from setting an edge, carving (such as laying down a carve), may result in becoming a member of the Vienna Boys Choir. I believe this may have a windfall to it, as Michael Jackson may for the first time be attracted to an adult male, and he may reward you with buying you your own bump run. Shorter boards also help in reducing swing weight and time needed to bring the board around (or just a lighter board).
  22. You know it's really unnecessary to have bars on the lifts. I think for safety's sake you should never have bars on the lifts. Think of the ramifications and insurance concerns if you have bars on the lifts. I can't believe what I'm reading here that some resorts have bars on the lifts. It's an accident waiting to happen. It seems to me that the people involved with the safety issues would have broached this subject long before and banned bars on the lifts. Where are your brains people? Isn't it enough to have bars in the Chalets? Don't we have enough people getting drunk after skiing. Why would you have them get drunk when they are skiing. Don't you think that there's enough time after skiing to get drunk without starting early in the day on the bars on the lifts. Oh! You were talking about safety restraints--Sorry
  23. Bumpy ride, that's where the name came from. Myself and my son basically only board in the Bumps and Steeps and Chutes. That's where we have the most fun, and spend every available minute. Been doing it for 8 years. Here's what I found: The shorter, the lighter, the medium stiffer, the happier to get in the air, the better. I'm 150 and have settled into the Burton Ultraprime 157's. The board just screams "Beam me up Scotty". It's stiff enough to set an edge on all but bare ice, light enough to go where you're thinking and not muscling, and rebounds and lifts off like a jumping bean on a hot plate. I've tried stiffer boards and they just want to stay on the snow, which is disasterous in bumps, and they don't want to absorb. Longer boards have too heavy of swing weights, so there is a lag time you can't afford. Wide boards, too much time to go edge to edge, not to mention the extra leverage that a wider board exerts on impact. Having said that, the 157 Ultraprime ain't very good for carving groomers that are hard. Next point for all of this is bindings. If you're rattling down a bumpy road in a race car, the ride "ain't so gud". You need a decent shock to suck up the impact, or more accurately get the wheels down back on the road. Stiff bindings are transmitters in the bumps. I found that you need something flexy to not telegraph everything to the ankles and above. I'm using Burton Carriers, and so is my son, and works perfectly for this usage. On a full blown carving board they're waaaay too loose. Oh here's another point. I tape my boots into the "Walk Mode". This is the other part of the Shock Absorption mode. If you're sucking in the bumps with your knees, your boots have to be able to flex. You need the fore and aft motion for absorption and extension. You can't do it from the knees up to the waist. It has to come from the ankles up to the waist. This is way closer to skiing without crutches than boarding. Some say I'm really good at this, and others say I'm really handsome, but I can only guarantee you that at least one of these is an out and out lie-maybe both Hmmmmm! Why is it "ABSORB and then it's ABSOR-P-TION" Successfully done Boarding the Bumps looks an awful lot like Skiing the Bumps. Shoulders perpendicular to the fall line. Steady upper body, and rubber bands for ankles knees and thighs. Now I realize that Successfully done is an opinion, but it seems to be the only way that I've ever been able to navigate the bump runs with any aplomb. None of my gear is probably the best. It sure does work for me. I haven't tried all the gear that is out there, but when something works, you don't always need to mess with it. You're better off enjoying what you havel. Questions? I would be available for pillorying, if one would care to engage in dialogue.
  24. Did you get the pictures? Any questions? Good Luck. Anyone need another set or two?
  25. Burton Race Plates have been sold. Thanks
