  1. I know I couldn't be the only one having issues with the Insano's. You're correct about the soul on them as well. Ranking right up there with the worst sole for traction on the toes and while it didn't wear much on me, I can see how the sole would wear if you walked in them enough. Made of marshmallow foam that was never great for traction. That said, they're a great boot if you can get them to hold up. Excellent fit, light, easy in and out, warm, no issues using them with my splitboard once they were broken in. Shoe goo would have fixed all but two of the pair. Most came apart in the same place but two pair came apart in a place that couldn't be fixed.
  2. Ride has a stiff boot called the Insano. Very comfortable right out of the box but I've had 6 pair fail on me in the last two seasons. I'm 150LBS, soft boot rider all the way and they fall apart where the BOA system meets the fabric. I ride pretty hard but 25 days on a pair of boots is sad. They warrantied it over and over, I had two pair that I swapped out so I always had a new pair warrantied and waiting. Sold the last pair on ebay recently, Salomon Malamute's are just about broken after 10+ days this season, hopefully they last.
  3. I emailed Gavin and he said ski only. I didn't ask if he'd be into putting something together. I thought they had a weekend camp going and I was pretty stoked to go up and get some instruction on running gates. I'd be into it if anyone else is thinking of trying to get a group.
  4. I got it pretty bad after a hard crash a couple years ago. The issues were really in my lower legs and hips. Now I do yoga a couple times a week to keep things stretched out. I went and had some serious deep tissue massage from someone with a good understanding of athletic issues to start with and that really helped but is was the yoga that kept it away. I bought this video below and I do the hip openers as well as the standing stretches a couple times a week(about 20 minutes each time) and it keeps the nagging issues at bay. I think I spent about $180 on three painful massage sessions(Scrapping, cupping, she was brutal) and about $25 for the video and foam block (@Dick's Sporting Goods) needed for some of the poses in the video and my issues went away in about 2 weeks. It's more than likely that your issues are elsewhere and they're torquing on your foot. It took me a while to figure that out but once I focused on the calf and the hips, it went away pretty quick. http://www.protherapysupplies.com/Shop-By-Category/Books-and-Media/Gaiam-AM-Yoga-For-Your-Week-with-Rodney-Yee?gclid=COmzq_Hbx7YCFct7QgodsSEA3A&source=googleps I will say, the best thing I ever did for snowboard equipment was get a decent pair of cork orthotic inserts for my boots. I've had them for about 8 years now and they were well worth the $200. I've never had any foot pain since...early season, long days, long traverses, nada. You can buy those cheaper do it yourself versions at REI or whatever but you have to get them right of they fugg you up even worse. I just paid to have someone custom fit them for me and they're really sweet.
  5. I'm waiting to see where this lands, that's snow behind the front. http://www.intellicast.com/Storm/Hurricane/PacificSatellite.aspx?animate=true
  6. It's been a long time since I rode a hard boot setup but I can imagine they dig in really hard on the softer groom...which is why I ask dumb questions. I don't really know much about the carving setups, I'm just lurking to gleam information on making smooth turns and what makes snowboards go fast. Backside of summit was sick the other day, well worth the wait. I didn't even take a run down the front, straight off the back for 4 laps and done. I know who you are Mike. We've ridden the chair a couple times over the years but I see you from the chair on a regular basis. I'll say what up next time I see you in line. Looks like the annual January dry spell has arrived on schedule....
  7. Is that a preference thing for pow or because there hasn't been much groom to speak of so far? I would think the groom will be epic this morning but it might be tough to link turns at speed with the holiday crowd. I'm going to lay down some heavy lines on marshmallow with the kids today. I rode from opening to close yesterday without a drop of food or water. It was that good as you probably know.
  8. I know...I've used K2 Boots for the last decade and they've never given me any issues. I went for the Ride boots because they fit the same as the K2 boots and I assumed since they were the same company, they'd be with me for at least 150 days. I've got 5 screws in my left foot and it only likes the fit of certain boots and the K2s and the Ride boots fit really nice. I'm torn because they fit so nice. Do I put this pair on ebay and cut my losses or do I ride them and just shoegoo them back together when they fail? I'm tired of breaking in boots, that's for sure...
  9. Bachy has been firing on all cylinders from the opening bell. It's been a long time since we've had a start like this. I'm not sure how much carvers care for deep pow but everyone likes quality snow on the groomers and damn if we don't have it right now...
  10. Update on my Ride Boot train wreck mentioned in this thread. http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?36595-Anyone-have-experience-with-any-of-these-soft-boots I'm now on my 4th pair of Ride Insano boots in 12 months. Each pair has lasted roughly 15 days before failing. Ride has also sent me a pair of the 2013 RFL boots and I've got about 6 days on them right now and they're cracking. I'm expecting my next pair Insano warranty boots to arrive in the next week and they're headed to ebay. I'm 42 years old and 150-155 LBS. I've never had so many issues with boots in 27 years of snowboarding. I like K2 and Ride boots because they fit well and they're really comfortable but it kills my back to be breaking in a new pair of boots every other month and with the RFL boots cracking within the first 5 days (I noticed the cracks on day 3) I'm thinking it's time to move on to something else. That BOA stuff is nice for ease of use but you can keep it as far as reliability.
  11. +2 on the Sick Stick Fast, good edge hold on packed, rips the crud, and floats in the deep stuff really well. It's not a quiver killer but I know a lot of people that ride them 90% of the time. I was weirded out by it at first because it doesn't look like it would be that good...
  12. Hey all, short time lurker who had to say something about the Ride Insano boots. I have the 11/12 model and while they fit great and I like the convenience of the double boa system, these boots tend to fall apart. I'm waiting to send back the pair I just got back from warranty, back for warranty. There is a banked slalom race this weekend that I don't have time to break in a new pair of boots for so I'm keeping this pair until Monday and then sending them back. Both pair have come apart where the boa system goes in and out of the top of the boot. I think I'm putting too much force on a pretty stiff(soft boot) and it just can't hold up. It's the back foot and both boots pair have failed in the first 15 days. I'm hoping they don't send me another pair as these boots don't work for what I'm doing. I'm going to ask for a different model with laces. I've never in 25 years had boots fail like this. I've got another pair new in the box and I'm trying to unload them. I got them as a backup to the first pair in case the shoe goo repair didn't survive the Baker LBS. After the second pair failed, I just want out of these boots. Just my opinion but 2 pair with less than 15 days on them seems like it's worth the warning. If anyone is wondering, I weight 155lbs, ride a 17 front -3 back stance that is 22 inches wide, and I've been riding a Salomon Sick Stick 80% of the time in these boots.
