  1. I said, "No...no...no" ...another one of Maggie's ;)
  2. I have found the master slave works for me on heel side but as I said didn't know what I was fling until I read it here....and i'm learning... ...I skid out on toe side where I still lead with front leg....so i'm definitely going to try leading with rear leg to see if it will stop my toe side skidding... If it works for you guys...
  3. Michelle, it is wonderful to come across another female of similar ilk...indeed a rare occurrence...:) ...I seem to think more like lesbians do and because of this have been chatted up by a few women in the past...Hahaha...to which I have explained i'm not for turning...:p Interesting what you say about tinkering with cars...I certainly have done one or two repairs in times of desperation..having to put brain in gear-pun intended...:p If I have no diy type things I put the nail varnish on especially when snowboarding I like to coordinate my stuff...Hahaha We have our work lunch this Friday, I said I was going to make an effort and put on a dress...thinking nothing more about it...my female work colleague a few days later says..I can't imagine you in a dress...I understood why, as I don't make much effort dressing for work, 99% of the time slinging on some trousers...when I do wear a skirt everyone stares at my legs, as if to check that they do exist....haha Like you I don't mind rolling about in the dirt..haha...and good to know you're passionate to for snowboarding...although as you say you have another passion ;) TBH..my instincts tell me to avoid involvements of any kind..don't know why but its how I am just now...and i'm pretty cool about it... still no harm done when you're single having a bit of a flirt... I did for some of reason have the attention of a snowboarder the other weekend...hmmm...I could only surmise there must have been a shortage of females that day and that he still had beer goggles from the night before..believe me when I say i'm a realist, and I ain't no aging supermodel:biggthump
  4. Aye, my first couple runs this season was powder...fell off poma, crashing into a clump of powder...uplift or the run down had not been pisted...even if it had, being Scotland, and not a lot of base, made the run bumpy and mogully in many parts.. I went straight onto hard boots my first two months, last April/may...I don't mind;) hard work but if I feel i'm going to get an injury, I'll revert...I just didn't understand the alpine board, boots, angles etc...I could hardly stay on the uplift...what i'm saying is I done my best at the time but i'm not put off....:) I've read and understood a lot more, I now feel confident to try different angles on the alpine set up..this confidence has come about because of changing things on the softies...;) I didn't realise the 50,45 on my alpine board wasn't steep enough...and I did notice (recently on softies) that when I brought my back foot angle closer to front, then my back leg felt more comfortable...so i'm glad you pointed that out..as that has been my experience...i will keep experimenting as people suggest..:) My alpine board is 19cm at waist, boots say 25-27.5...they are too big for me but anyway it gives you a better idea of what I have...no boot overhang... Thanks for your pointers and examples, it helps me put another piece in the jigsaw puzzle of hard booting...without peoples help I would still be totally clueless...
  5. let's just say it hadn't got past me that people on this site talk about toys...;) We all have the right to choose how we want to live and what makes us happy...i'm certainly interested in reading about other peoples snowboards, cars, houses etc ...I don't expect people to agree with my choices...we all choose our own bubbles to live in whether on or off line. My comments miss out finer points on things or Fuller clarifications but I expect some things I say not to be fully understood. The people on this site and the EC site are a good bunch...some other snowboarding sites I won't join (that's why I lurk for about a year before joining) ...so yes it's a way to switch people off..in the real/physical world I ignore the people who just let's say have got negative ways about them...:D
  6. OhD,...let's just say i'm old enough to have had some right rubbish things happen to me..it helps me put things in life into perspective...and whilst I listen to women at work talking about facials, false nails, and the men talk about shiny new things...I just switch off..and dream about being on the snow or up a hill somewhere away from it all, ...To me that is enjoying life and having fun...along with a few other simple things like good food and demolishing and rebuilding bits of my house:eek:.. so not doing anyone any harm(as long as the neighbours got ear plugs:p) and no regrets....:) Hmmm....it's usually people that p.... me off (and yes there are a few real gems of people that don't)..and yes i'm pretty good at making myself content and happy... One of the things I love about the internet, is you can switch into and out of the virtual world whenever it suits...in the physical world..it's damn hard to switch someone off...... ..ah well..that's life haha ha...what you mean by Paleo guys comment...sorry if being dim...:p
  7. OhD, thanks for idea on chocolate bread...I'll definitely try that...especially as I bought a 25kg sack of organic stoneground rye flour... Rye flour is meant to have a lot less gluten than wheat...can you or your wife not have that at all? What were the initial symptoms to indicate the intolerance? Shame you're stuck at your desk..not long till week end...:D
  8. Jtslalom, you are correct, as I do forget i'm still talking about my soft boot set up, and others here are talking hard boots... I still find it all helpful and I took on board your earlier remark of your angles on your soft board, that is why I thought to up my anglesto see how I get on...and it has paid off...:) I do have a hard boot set up, that I used for the first time in April/may this year...quite scary for me to have gone from duck on softies to 50/45 on hard boots...still I had to start somewhere...:) So I switch between soft and hard, with the aim to be more on my hard boots...i'm doing what I can on my softies to help me acclimatise...as my body would face duck with my feet at 50/45 when on the alpine board, causing me back knee problems and no end of heel side falls:freak3:!...I hope with my recent drills, that i'm more forward when I get my hard boots back on...:D
  9. Michelle, your Web site is amazing and very professional:biggthump...I wouldn't trust myself to offer people advice on a holistic diet:rolleyes:...you obviously have the knowhow etc ..:) Have you been running your business a long time? I have met Willie he was a speaker at an event I was at,a few years ago..he's an intelligent, quirky and passionate guy...I was having a great conversation with him but didn't know who he was until he went up to speak.. Anyway he done a Channel 4 TV series about his life and how he came to do what he does now...he owns a chocolate plantation in Venezuela...with trees of the original and rare Criollo bean. What I think is great about him is being altruistic about a belief and passion, even of it goes against the grain of the masses...he doesn't annihilate the cocoa bean, and turn it into some pile of tosh then try and sell it as chocolate:mad: You mention raw chocolate, I too am a fan, and currently out of raw cacao powder but still got some raw cacao butter left..it is great as a moisturizer ..just having the lingering aroma of chocolate is heavenly...:p Anyway, in the meantime, to show I eat more than cakes and sweets:p...I had a chilli, red lentil and tomato soup this evening...:)...no oil added...just: chillies, water, red lentils, tomato puree and Himalayan pink salt...;) I forgot to say...the cakes are wee mini cup cakes I suppose..they're just little sponges...the topping is: coconut oil, 100% chocolate and icing sugar...TBH....this varies when i'm doing a chocolate cake it differs to make a much more luxurious finish taste-wise that is...as none of my cakes have that perfect asymmetrical look..hahaha
  10. The first comment, I had thought the same about the shoulder, as with the boot cuff thing... I have to think bend knees and not to reach for cuff... I must be learning something The second comment, as dim as I can be at times, I couldn't find the Russian video..I even looked for mirrored-writing as a clue...:D so instead, I watched a YouTube video of Ben Evengy (for about the 100th time:eek:)...he seems to go through the Norm drills..leading onto the laid turns which is my ultimate aim...;)
  11. Michelle, very similar to your Spicy Pecans:)..done in frying pan with sugar, water n hint of chilli... Haven't had chocolate for a couple Weeks...gotta' have a fix..mini cakes.. A chocolate purist Willie Harcourt...produces 100% cacao cylinders...not a good pics but I got the logo...the chocolate is very dark, and I used it in the coating of the mini cakes...:D.. ...i've only had two cakes and a handful of caramelised almonds..need to lie down..can't breathe...too full-up... ...all vegan...
  12. John, Thomas Jefferson "Was the government to prescribe to us our medicine and diet, our bodies would be in such keeping as our souls are now" Ever heard of food grade hydrogen peroxide as a treatment for gout amongst other things?I am just too much of a cynic of most things that governments tell us to do. Wish you well with whatever treatment you have:)
  13. It's interesting to know there are different ways of working the knees...I won't know for a while yet what will be best for me ... Last weekend I changed my soft boot angles to 36f,33b (up 6 degrees on both feet). I soon got used to this which gives me confidence... Heel side carve improved even more, and leading with front foot but toe side still got issues...done lots of basic drills that is helping toe side...although I forgot to lead with rear knee on toe side. I found I was starting to use my rear foot throughout the carves...this is new to me..something learned:) ...another thing learned is that I can visualise how flexing my ankles laterally would also help..that's further down the line. I'm yet to see how this will transfer to alpine set up:)
  14. Leeho, I wish you well in finding a new relationship...:)... Shall I be controversial and say it makes a change from guys wanting to, in the main, be serial monogomists... Of course each to their own...:p Sad as it may seem...I have had more fun snowboarding than any man has ever brought into my life... ..it just goes to show..i've got bad judgement ...and I'm far too of-the-wall for most people to put up with..hahaha :rolleyes:however on the upside we are all at the end of the day responsible for our own happiness and in that respect I'm doing a grand job... ...a funny story, one guy I went out with couldn't stop criticizing almost everything about me..things like putting a newspaper on the floor after reading it...having too many cups of tea...he thought the length of the curtains hanging in my living room were too long...told me I would fail an exam I was going to sit..BTW I passed..haha...needless to say after a few years of that I decided I liked myself enough to take-of into the sunset..then of course the sun rose everyday after that... ...recently I have been quizzed by a couple of guys about my personal life to which I just tell them straight a few things like...how I love sport, love snowboarding am obsessed with it..set up my car so I can camp in the back, drive of somewhere for weekend etc...all on my own... ...I said to one am I boring you? As he was staring at me with a blank look..he said "no I'm jealous", then mentioned being bogged down with family life etc...anyway I took his comment as a compliment..other guy similar comments However, no females seem to be .jealous.of this life I lead...oh look this just arrived in the post for my camping set up..a handy little device...see pics... I may go against the grain of what females are supposed to do and be in many ways but I'm having fun..isn't that what counts?;)
  15. Aye, I gathered why the thread was started...a but like a sprinter I knew had re trained as part of the UK bobsleigh team... Just wondering if for example Red Bull has such an athlete where they sponsor them for both summer and winter doing two of these sports..that would be living the dream:D
  16. Surfing, another one of those real cool sports:biggthump From my ignorance in this sport, I see sometimes parts of the waves are used as a berm would be in snowboarding...? Great videos..are there any professionals who get paid to surf in the summer and snowboard in the winter? I'll definitely have a go at surfing one day soon:)

Are you a vampire? Perhaps get night vision goggles and snowboard at night:eplus2:
  18. sorry..posted twice having network issues last night..
  19. The sweet n spicy pecans are right up my street..once you start can't stop deliciousness...Hahaha The pate is just, onion cooked(no oil) with spices, today used:cumin, mixed spice, paprika, garam masala; handful dates, lentils, amaranth seeds, water...cook until thick mass...hand blend until spreadable texture..I also sprinkled ground flax seeds and algae on top, and served with a bitter apple sauce... The pate and bread in particular were chosen as complementary for the protein but obviously the flax and algae filled the nutrition out even more..the apple sauce was for complementary taste more than anything...:)
  20. Michelle, your passion for cooking shines through:biggthump I will definitely visit your Web site...I'm afraid I don't use FB or twitter, I avoid it like the plague:rolleyes: I made some bread today ...half rye and half oats, whilst upgrading the OP Sys on my laptop...my old OS was so old quite a few programs wouldn't run on it:o ..I also made a lentil and amaranth seed pate...these are some of my easily mobile foods to take to the slopes...;) It's been snowing here today, I hope my local slope opens over the next couple of days..:D
  21. Glad I'm not the only one to have felt utterly overwhelmed by the information on this site...it really is a giant leap that i've understood some... ..tell you what I find baffling, is all the talk about PLATES?..:o I watched the Sean at Donek? Video several times re what different side cuts are for and I found that very helpful, and to be honest I don't have a clue what my alpine board is cut for but I know it's not a GS..that's a start...Rome was not built in a day... I was sharing the slope with a hare last week end, I'll be going for rainbows then...I'm still visualising my drills...;)
  22. okay, I've had a good read and I am pleased to say that I have a clear mental picture of how and when to get onto the down hill edge...including the toe side which before, I couldn't visualise...:) Believe it or not I have read this stuff before(joining this site) but I just didn't have enough experience to understand... What I shall take to the slopes with me, to practice is: -Square shoulders to nose of board with hands on thighs or bend knees to be able to touch boot cuff (see what works best) -just get on the downhill edge...I have one of the pics imprinted in my mind..so I know when -look at next direction of travel before switching edge -I'll try to remember the pencil at the waist-ma no hands:p but I can only do two perhaps 3 things at a time:rolleyes: I am really looking forward to practising, so thank you for tips and pointing me in the right direction:biggthump
  23. C5Golfer said "...poses the question is Bill now a gelding..." you're very brave admitting to...Freudian castration anxiety by projecting onto Bill ... ...how about you start a thread on the conscious and unconscious mind...:D talking of horses and this being a food thread, I'm off to have some porridge oats:)
  24. I thought Clinton stealthily signed away the 5th, one new years eve (good timing eh?) Re NDAA= national defence authorisation act where US citizens can be held indefinitely even though they may not have committed a crime but are merely suspected of...this seems to me to be a sneaky way of taking away ones rights? Perhaps someone knows different? Yes back to food...I'm eating the cake.. I got the Clinton thing wrong, it was Obama, who signed this into us law on 31 Dec 2011 and this is the scariest bit... The most controversial provisions to receive wide attention were contained in Title X, Subtitle D, entitled "Counter-Terrorism." In particular, sub-sections 1021 and 1022, which deal with detention of persons the government suspects of involvement in terrorism.*" http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Defense_Authorization_Act_for_Fiscal_Year_2012 What is interesting is how the word terrorism is being defined?
  25. Too late now C5, everyone now knows you fire on 1 cylinder lawn-mowers...:D what is 5th?:)
