  1. This is a little old news to some but some looking for a new car might be interested. It only $58K. --I wonder what motor it will use? A small block V-8 from a Corvette would be nice. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070821/AUTO01/708210332/1148 http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/back-to-the-past/delorean-confirms-new-cars-to-roll-out-in-08-291801.php

  7. I am just an old retired mech engineer here but are you saying you would want to have skis on your feet with non releasable bindings? If so will you be going faster than 7 or so mph down hill - EVER? Just curious as I get older I hate to see injuries to myself or others. Damn Son! - as Jerry Reed would say

    driving question

Don't shoot the messenger.. here a couple others input. Car talk guys are good. http://www.cartalk.com/content/columns/Archive/2002/February/08.html 8. Are yellow fog lights really better than white or blue ones? The old wives' tale that yellow fog lights give you greater visibility over white or blue ones is just not true. The premise of that superstition, that yellow light waves are long enough to pass through water particles without reflecting back into the driver's eyes, is based on a misinterpretation of Lord Rayleigh's principle of light scattering. As it turns out, the water particles in fog and mist are entirely too large to have an effect on any light waves from fog lights, be they yellow, white, blue or even green. In other words, any fog light that is properly mounted and aimed is effective, so don't worry about the color.

    Watch Out!!!

Sorry Jack but since the CG boat ran into him I think he overtook him. If I was on a jury - he'd be like OJ is soon to be. My $.03

    Watch Out!!!

Why did not the CG change course? I thought the boat that was passing or overtaking another boat had to yield the right of way.

    driving question

My preference is low mounted lights, the higher they are the more snow you see which can be hipnotizing which is bad. Also I prefer a big 18 wheeler in front of me during those times.
  12. Kool info YY -- I changed one thing and made a big difference so I question it's accuracy. My house ia 3200 sq ft , when I change it to 1500 sq feet I cut in half the number of planets needed. Hummmm. Does not compute least that is my opinion,
  13. My opinion would be the person who is seeking a new mate should set the criteria for whatever/whoever she/he thinks would meet the current desires. I do believe the social and financial levels/lifestyles do play a big part in a successful relationship. I do wish of the many ladies I know from past relationships or just female friends that I know would take more priority in saving $$$ as in a retirement program so they are more financially independent - but most of them would rather expect a man to come along a provide for that part of life’s equation. But again I must mention the parents—there is where some or most of that blame can reside- the rest of it with basic American society. Men are taught to provide the financial side of a marriage and women are taught to provide the social side of marriage. Let the flamethrower begin ---
  14. Go for it ... it is better have earned your own money than expect someone else’s. I have known and associated with some ladies that wanted a rich guy—most of them have been from rich families and find that is what they are accustomed to – parent is at fault there. Others have just wanted more than they can imagine they can do for themselves so they want a gift. Another was so pissed at all the hard working folk, in Seattle for example, who received many stock options and she did not. But she did not realize you have to seek out those kinds of companies and also work a few more hours than 8-5. It was not a pleasant subject to discuss during happy hour if she was there. I went on a date one time with a nice good looking but not high on the education scale herself but wanted to know how much money I made before our appetizers arrived. She was quite pissed when I asked her why that mattered. Lesson learned there—don’t pick a lady up for a first date in a Mercedes Benz.

  16. THIS APPEARED ON CRAIG'S LIST: What am I doing wrong? Okay, I'm tired of beating around the bush. I'm a beautiful (spectacularly beautiful) 25 year old girl. I'm articulate and classy. I'm not from New York. I'm looking to get married to a guy who makes at least half a million a year. I know how that sounds, but keep in mind that a million a year is middle class in New York City, so I don't think I'm overreaching at all. Are there any guys who make 500K or more on this board? Any wives? Could you send me some tips? I dated a business man who makes average around 200 - 250. But that's where I seem to hit a roadblock. 250,000 won't get me to central park west. I know a woman in my yoga class who was married to an investment banker and lives in Tribeca, and she's not as pretty as I am, nor is she a great genius. So what is she doing right? How do I get to her level? Here are my questions specifically: - Where do you single rich men hang out? Give me specifics- bars, restaurants, gyms -What are you looking for in a mate? Be honest guys, you won't hurt my feelings -Is there an age range I should be targeting (I'm 25)? - Why are some of the women living lavish lifestyles on the upper east side so plain? I've seen really 'plain jane' boring types who have nothing to offer married to incredibly wealthy guys. I've seen drop dead gorgeous girls in singles bars in the east village. What's the story there? - Jobs I should look out for? Everyone knows - lawyer, investment banker, doctor. How much do those guys really make? And where do they hang out? Where do the hedge fund guys hang out? - How you decide marriage vs. just a girlfriend? I am looking for MARRIAGE ONLY Please hold your insults - I'm putting myself out there in an honest way. Most beautiful women are superficial; at least I'm being up front about it. I wouldn't be searching for these kind of guys if I wasn't able to match them - in looks, culture, sophistication, and keeping a nice home and hearth. * it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests PostingID: 432279810 THE ANSWER Dear Pers-431649184: I read your posting with great interest and have thought meaningfully about your dilemma. I offer the following analysis of your predicament. Firstly, I'm not wasting your time, I qualify as a guy who fits your bill; that is I make more than $500K per year. That said here's how I see it. Your offer, from the prospective of a guy like me, is plain and simple a cr@ppy business deal. Here's why. Cutting through all the B.S., what you suggest is a simple trade: you bring your looks to the party and I bring my money. Fine, simple. But here's the rub, your looks will fade and my money will likely continue into perpetuity...in fact, it is very likely that my income increases but it is an absolute certainty that you won't be getting any more beautiful! So, in economic terms you are a depreciating asset and I am an earning asset. Not only are you a depreciating asset, your depreciation accelerates! Let me explain, you're 25 now and will likely stay pretty hot for the next 5 years, but less so each year. Then the fade begins in earnest. By 35 stick a fork in you! So in Wall Street terms, we would call you a trading position, not a buy and hold...hence the rub...marriage. It doesn't make good business sense to "buy you" (which is what you're asking) so I'd rather lease. In case you think I'm being cruel, I would say the following. If my money were to go away, so would you, so when your beauty fades I need an out. It's as simple as that. So a deal that makes sense is dating, not marriage. Separately, I was taught early in my career about efficient markets. So, I wonder why a girl as "articulate, classy and spectacularly beautiful" as you has been unable to find your sugar daddy. I find it hard to believe that if you are as gorgeous as you say you are that the $500K hasn't found you, if not only for a tryout. By the way, you could always find a way to make your own money and then we wouldn't need to have this difficult conversation. With all that said, I must say you're going about it the right way. Classic "pump and dump." I hope this is helpful, and if you want to enter into some sort of lease, let me know.
  17. Chris and Tex1230 -- reminds me why I believe the English do not build or design Computers.--- They can not figure out how to make them leak oil!
  18. Compliments to you Allee for having nice dogs and the ability and time and desire and conviction to train them. Like so many controversial passions we have whether it be snowboarding, hunting, motorcycles whatever – it is the 5% of the group that ruins it for the 95% who don’t deserve the negative reaction and effects. Not a dog owner for the reasons Jack mentions. I am happy with lease laws in public hiking areas and parks and at the same time am glad they have off lease parks too. BTW – I think we have a law in WA State that you can no longer let a dog ride in the back of a pickup.
  19. Hey Pebu-- how about Britney or Hillary?
  20. Have ya thought about naming her PEBU?
  21. It can be a little iffy to snowboard Washington State in Dec -- some times we have lots a snow and sometimes it is rainy. Good thing is if you are in Seattle you can stay around here and go where snow is -- Crystal Mt or Baker Mt or drive south to Mt Hood or Go to Whistler for a few days. You have options at least - plus resturants are great here.
  22. Dave* is right on in his comments... I go up right before Xmas every year - a couple of those years have been dry but still have a good time eating and drinking a nice red wine at night. But most of the time we have great snow and great rides, if we didn't I would would reserve a condo each year around the 16-20th of Dec. The village is not quite populated yet and the mountains are not very crowded - but then it is not the 21st yet which is when it will start to get busy this year
  23. Where did you read this? I would like to read more about it.
