1. Two of several tell-tales of the beginning of the collapse of any society in history have been the debasement of its currency and the debasement of its language. Check and check.
2. I take "steering" to mean sliding/skidding. What RideGuy said in #32. I believe AASI says the same thing, as I'm pretty sure (iirc) PSIA did.
3. can we outlaw smoking and fat people now? health as a right fails the two people on a desert island test.
4. Heh... it can't devolve into that because that's not true. ;) I think we all agree on what a pure carve is (god, I hope), but I think the problem is different definitions of steering. I agree with RideGuy's diagram, assuming the downhill direction is down my computer screen. If your board has that kind of "steering angle" during a turn, at that moment you are not purely carving. So by this definition of steering, the answer to the OP is no. Sometimes its necessary to do that, like if you have too much speed or not enough trail width. BlueB wins "most clever troll" award for March. :D
5. yes. Son of Jerry and Tara Eberhard Masterpool.
6. pushing the board with your feet such that it yaws out of the path that it would naturally carve is steering. it has no role in a pure carved turn. end of story.

Kessler 185 KST

no, it does not have an arm like Trogdor.
8. Horrible. Just horrible. He was surely headed for greatness.
9. I generally agree and I operate with that assumption. You may have encountered a seller who was not trying to be dishonest, but was just being lazy and/or a dumbass. Big difference between dishonesty and dumbassery. ;)
10. Hmm... I think I'd say that dropping your hip is a better thing to think about than dropping your knees. I know a dude who leaves a knee track in the snow on toeside, but still has a bit of trouble with his butt in the air and bending over at the waist. But, try both and see what works. Grabbing your front or even rear boot cuff with your front hand can help as a drill.
11. Sorry to be a wet blanket, while it is a good carve, as a part time photographer I have to tell you that you are technically stealing this copyrighted photo. If they happened to see this and were so inclined, they could come after us to get to you and take legal action against you. If you love it so much, you should buy it. Then you can post a high res version for all to enjoy if you want.
12. Thanks very much for clearing this up Sigi! I am drooling over a Fullrace Titanium 170!!
13. My Kessler with 7 days and one tune on it isn't looking so expensive now is it? ;)
14. Simply put, edge hold. I can ride my NSR or Kessler on days where my Madd 180 would have to stay home. And metal boards these days are striking a nice balance between lively and damp. I can get air between turns pretty easily and often. Another factor is, metal boards generally have a larger "sweet spot". They are more forgiving about body position, and are generally easier to ride. I would like to do a back-to-back between a metal and glass 171 though. Would be interesting.
15. ah. Not bad. But for that money I'd ask for a 20.5cm waist.
16. we are? my squeeze is on the couch. not 4 hours away.
17. 171 with 20.2cm waist...
