  1. hopefully the ski racers liked them under 2 as well. snow was excellent on 2 and 7 yesterday morning. highlands was too soft from all the sun. hopefully it wasn't too soft by the time you were there. and from the welch thread.... never go to the back bowl! it's always junk! ugh. i'm there with parker for d-team all day. looks like i'll be stuck in highlands. i think i'll bring a book too. thanks for the heads up on the weekend events boys. -trent

  10. there's d-team racing at welch on sunday, 2/12. might be very busy in the morning. they start inspecting at 9, racing at 10. will probably finish around 2 or 3. -trent
  11. bobble, mr. t, and i rode welch today. it rocked! the light in the morning sucked, and the howling wind blowing uphill made it a challenge to get going, but the snow was awesome! lookout, bakki, and even dan's were great. mr. t hadn't seen the back bowl, so we ventured over there. it sucked eggs. total ice. i tried to make 2 carves, and ripped my pants in the sliding, and sliding, and sliding, that ensued. after lunch, the sun appeared. lookout didn't disappoint. many carves made on that run. we were watched a lot by one of the lifties. he wanted to see a 360 on bakki like he'd seen in a warren miller film. mr. t yelled, "this aint no movie!". liftie still enjoyed watching the show, even without hollywood magic. and a ski patrol came to give us a chat today too. something about how fun it looked doing what we were doing, and that he'd be kicked out of ski patrol if he did it. (i'm guessing that's a welch policy now. heh.) -trent
  12. i wish. no major sessions for me this year. you know what i expect from you while you're there. ;) -trent
  13. it wasn't like that in the evening. it was very challenging to not skid, chatter, or fall. most of the time, all 3. solid ice under a little snow. i'm guessing it got worse as the sun went down, because welch was better in the morning, and got harder (icy) into the afternoon. mrs. bobble, tell mr. bobble to buy a metal board. it'll keep him happier when conditions suck. (although the happiest i was at buck last night, is when we all decided it sucked, and went home). -trent
  14. that's mellow yellow, and he thanks you for noticing. :D -trent
  15. and blinged out sidewinders! nice "working" the camera fin!!
  16. it was better than expected today. a little crunchy, but carveable. i was mostly on chair 7 and 2. lots of school buses, and lots of kids who actually could ski. unusual. chair 2 was a little crowded with the tues race league and this - it's the event where all the ski shops get to see and try out next years gear. too bad there wasn't a carve board to be seen. i talked to some of the reps, and it's all super fat skis! yuck! riding up with one of the shop guys, he couldn't wait to get rid of the huge skis he was demoing. seems to be the trend, even though they're made for powder, not groomers. not many "carving" skis in the mix. the tents will be there again tomorrow too, and some regional race is happening on thursday. -trent
  17. after the afton warm-up, i headed to welch. i was nervous on the drive down, worried that it'd be awful conditions. turned out, i had little to worry about. lookout, bakki, and chicken were all in great shape. mostly carveable too. i made it down chicken carving 2 out of the 4 runs. the other 2, i chattered and slid down most of the bottom pitch. on bakki, i had a little better results. but i did get slammed to the ground on the bottom flat once. dans dive was super soft, and very slushy. only took 3 runs down it. mostly just to leave my signature so nicotine would know someone else was out playing. i got stopped by a skier who asked where / how to get gear. he apparently has a very old burton with rat trap bindings, and would like to get back into the sport. i gave him a bomber card. +50 points. nicotine showed up! always great to ride with him. also humbling on how big he goes on every run. (i have a cell phone video of him jumping on lookout, but can't seem to get it to upload. trust me, he jumps big!) -trent
  18. started the day at afton. i was a little worried it'd still be soft snow, over ice. it wasn't! had chair 2 to myself for 3 runs. then there were a whopping 4 people on it. tried to do a figure 8 before others wrecked the hill with sliding. <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/fONa7dvCgQu-rUGBKYwPi8gklddK1gPjhHgSXz5aCew?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-6HUGB53PnOI/TzCEd1iSTYI/AAAAAAAAHRc/MlcVh4Poarw/s640/IMG_2158.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/trentj02/HostingPicts?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCP2ZgLOer5aSKw&feat=embedwebsite">hosting picts</a></td></tr></table> moved to chair 7 for a bit. it too was excellent. practiced for the next time bobble wants someone to try and jump the camera. yes, i think i'll break his camera too. <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/xgSJOuACPbK0sZcSEFdlr8gklddK1gPjhHgSXz5aCew?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-0GM-Dc_CK_A/TzCEdj5zkXI/AAAAAAAAHRY/1W5q6fv2K34/s640/IMG_2181.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/trentj02/HostingPicts?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCP2ZgLOer5aSKw&feat=embedwebsite">hosting picts</a></td></tr></table> took off after a couple hours for some nicotine. -trent
  19. yes angie! represent!!! can you show us the engagement ring, mid-carve? looks like your fashion sense is rubbing off. lots-o-bright in them there picts. -trent
  20. nice pict ace! keep 'em coming. yeah, webster! make some turns for all of us missing it! who's the pureboarding rider, remo? looking good! -trent
  21. here's what happened on chair 7 when i tried to actually carve. yes, mystery caller, you CAN carve better than me. but can you chatter better than me?! oh, and this happened both runs. at the same tower! i thought i was going to hit it the second time. after that, no more aggressive riding. <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/sZ2w6uLsRTTOVlqqI6zc_8gklddK1gPjhHgSXz5aCew?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-5eq6VwPZCY8/Ty3rxTZToQI/AAAAAAAAHQo/7Pi_EIVXrl0/s640/IMG_2137.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/trentj02/HostingPicts?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCP2ZgLOer5aSKw&feat=embedwebsite">hosting picts</a></td></tr></table> -trent
  22. oh, hells yeahs. mellow and i expect lots of picts! ;) sucks not being there this year. have a great time and let us know how big of a mistake we made by not coming. better yet, show us! did i mention, picts would be nice? -trent
  23. so i get a phone call today while i'm at a "hill". the message was, "i carve better than you!", followed by, "i ski better than you!". this all from another carver, and they were at a different "hill"! is this allowed? and no, they didn't even tell me where a camera was either!!! -trent
  24. not so fun. soft groom over ice. could carve, but only standing upright. no aggressive riding made it to the bottom of the hill today. probably could've skied, but didn't want to be some sort of wussy who can't carve on crappy conditions:p received a call on the hill, this was the message. "i carve better than you!!!! i ski better than you!!!!". after that, i headed straight to the car. been crying ever since. why are people so mean? -trent
  25. yes! i'm part of the club! does this mean i get 100 points every run, or just 100 for the day? if it's every run, i'm set here in the land of 300 feet vertical.;) reading the SkES rub in will help the pain and sadness of not being in aspen next week. thanks for the entertainment! -trent
