  1. Not sure if this will be of any use to any of you, but please check out this video of short turns:

Maybe 2 weeks ago, I was doing laps on a green runs at Gore Mountain, and decided to do a bunch of really short turns to get myself to bend my knees more, and use my shins turn...

It was really helpful to be able to shift my weight from side to side quickly so I do not hold a turn for too long, and it got me to more actively ride my board, instead of it riding me...

This also seems to help me when riding crap chunky snow...

And another rambling thought is that when I look further ahead and plan my next few turns, I ride better than if I am looking too closely at the nose of my board...

  2. Hey All,

Just wanted to put it out there....  I will be riding at Stowe and Sugarbush on the following days...

    Fri 3/8/2024 @ Stowe

Sat & Sun 3/9 to 3/10/2024 @ Sugarbush riding with Alex T. who I met at Nontucky Clearcut 2024 in MT...

    Mon & Tues 3/11 to 3/12/2024 @ Stowe

Lemme know if any of you will be there during these days...  Will be on hardboots most of the time...  May bring my skis to ski Stowe one of the days...

    Cheers,

    Tim

  3. So unfortunate…. Thanks Dave and Kristen for organizing MCC.  Mother Nature seems to have other plans…

I am in Schweitzer parking lot watching the rain wash all the snow away…. I converted my lift ticket to a  voucher for 1 day there good for 1 year…. I may try my luck on Friday on my way back to Spokane…

Heading towards Libby, and will head onwards to Whitefish for the next few days…

See some of you at the roller rink tonight.

    Cheers,

    Tim

  4. I arrived in Spokane a little past noon today, super wet and grey.  Got the cancellation email and text when I was waiting for baggage…. I should have brought my passport, but didn’t…

Gonna go waterskiing at Schweitzer on Sunday 1/28, then head to Libby in the evening, then will probably head to Whitefish Monday 1/29 for a few days, and eventually return to Spokane on Friday 2/2 and fly back to NYC on Saturday 2/3…

  5. This is a double posting.  I posted it in the PNW ride board also...

    Hey All,

I'm heading to MCC by way of Spokane, WA.  Wondering if any of you who are going to MCC will be at Schweitzer on Sunday, 1/28/2024...  There seems to be rain in the forecast for that day, but I'm gonna risk it as every time I try to go Schweitzer after MCC, either I'm too tired, or there is a snow storm...  Please let me know...

    Cheers!

  6. Downtown Libby to Turner Mountain is about 30 minutes by car.  FYI...  You may be able to carpool with people...

Rent a standard SUV with AWD or 4WD...  I have spun out  at the bottom of the access road leaving Turner mountain.  That was with a big luxury 4WD SUV...  Just drive carefully and slowly especially up and down the access road.

I don't think rental cars allow you to put chains on their cars...

  7. Hi All!  Happy New Year!

Well, if MCC doesn't happen this year, I may consider it...

How does one get there from across the pond?  NYC/JFK to Zurich, then train from Zurich to Frutigen?

Also, where is the most convenient place to stay?  I looked on the Moon & Carve website, but was not fully understanding where everything is located.

Hochst seems to be "ski-in, ski-out" location.  Is staying in Frutigen close enough?  Please let me know.  Thanks!

  8. What a Hot Mess!!!  Whitefish not happening on Sunday for me...  Saturday flights out of LGA canceled, and stuck at work...  Rebooked for Sunday from LGA to PIT to MSP to GEG and will arrive late at night in Spokane, spend the night and leave early to get to Libby in time for the lifts to open...  This might be the best case scenario...  Hopefully it's only 3.5 hour drive from Spokane to LIbby...  See you all there...

Well, here it is...  It took Bruce and I about 2 seasons to sort out my builds...  172x22 Contra with 11m SCR...  The graphics didn't quite turn out how I imagined, but Bruce said I shouldn't look at the board while I'm riding it...  I had imagined something with a more plywood color with a bit more detail, but what do you expect from an iPhone photo?  As I look at it more it looks more like sepia-toned petrified wood...  Anyway, first ride will be at MCC 2022...

    Cheers,

    Tim
