  1. Ok - thanks for the clarification. I have updated the listing.
  2. My eBay listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/153222671781 Let me know if you have any questions. I bought this from a Bomber member several years ago because my fellow carvers raved about their Tankers on powder days. However, I never mounted bindings to it. Sold!

    Best time to sell

I will but I'll probably wait a few weeks.

    Best time to sell

How does one establish the value of an 8 year old alpine snowboard? What it was worth 2 years ago may have no bearing on what it is worth today. There is no "blue book" for this gear (that I am aware of). It depends a great deal on who is in the market at the time, the time of year, condition, age, etc, etc. If I think that my board is worth $400 and it just sits there week after week, what good does that do anyone? Of course I want to maximize my profit from the sale but that doesn't mean I'm taking advantage of the buyer. If people have had bad experiences with ebay, they should be wary of the seller's rating. I have sold a lot of stuff on ebay. I am very protective of my rating. If a buyer thinks that I have overstated the value of an item, I will make it right with them. I sold a bike from Colorado to someone in Buenos Aires, Argentina for $1500. The buyer was thrilled about the condition.

I understand that some don't like ebay (but I don't know why). I've found that it creates a very fair market.

    Best time to sell

Some of the stuff I'm selling is carve specific. Some is just snowboard equipment. My preference is to create a link to ebay. I like the fact that the price is set by the market instead of me trying to guess what is a fair price. The carve specific stuff I may try to sell here. The softboot stuff I may sell on ebay.
  9. Is there a consensus about when is the best time to offer used snowboarding gear for sale? First week of November?

    Goggles

Which goggles did you get from Amazon? What is your initial impression? Odd Job - I looked for the Julbo Zebra Light goggles on Amazon but didn't see any by that name. They say these are photochromic. Do they really work well (e.g. bright in low light and dark in bright light)?

    Goggles

I looked more at the Amazon website as well as the Zionor website to try to understand their various models & terms. They have various lenses that vary in Visible Light Transmission (VLT) from about 9% (very bright days) to about 70% (very cloudy days). With the magnetic lens attachment, it seems easy to change lenses. The goggles are about $40 and replacement lenses are about $20. I'm thinking of getting some in the 17% range with cloudy day lenses in the 50% range. The outward appearance has little association with the VLT.

    Goggles

My old Habervision goggles are pretty scratched up. I found these on Amazon & they look pretty intriguing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A42F57Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A3SF4EXA2EQEMN&psc=1 I'm used to having quality goggles cost a lot so I'm skeptical about the quality of these. It seems like Oakley goggles are in the $200 - $300 range. I don't know how much of that is brand-name recognition. These on Amazon have great reviews. The magnetic lens holding seems like a pretty slick way of holding the lens and quickly changing the lens out. Does anyone have any experience with these (or similar)? It looks like the lens could scratch pretty easily but could pretty easily be replaced. I'm assuming that one could get low-light lenses and bright day lenses (correct?). Is there a consensus on the latest/greatest goggles?

    Weekend effect

I think the thing that makes weekend snow-sliders cranked up is the traffic mess up to the areas and then all of the crowds trying to get up the mountain. I hate the traffic more than anything. Add to that a powder day and the road conditions are bad and everybody is trying to get up for fresh tracks. When I'm mountain biking at lunchtime during the week, other trail users (cyclists & hikers) are friendly and courteous. If I'm road cycling and pass another rider with a wave or a "good morning" I usually get a response in-kind. Road cycling on the weekend often when I pass another rider (especially a tri-biker) and say "good morning" the usual response is head-down silence. Weekend mountain bikers are often "get out of my way" rude. Just wondered if others see this in other parts of the country or with other sports. Weekday season pass is for me.

    Weekend effect

I really only do 2 sports: snowboarding & bicycling. I've noticed that there is something in common with both of these sports: When I am out during the week (lunchtime bike riding, playing hooky for some mid-week boarding) other participants are much friendlier than they are on the weekends. When I'm riding during the week, I see other riders (both road & off-road), I say hello and they wave back. If I'm boarding mid-week I see other boarders & skiers in the lodge & on the lifts and most everyone is pleasant and respectful. Conversely, on the weekends, other cyclists tend to have their heads down and often don't reply to a "good morning". Ski areas on weekends are filled with a bunch of rude, self-absorbed people. Have others noticed this in boarding, cycling and possibly other sports? Is it a "rats in a cage" phenomenon? For this reason, I have pretty much given up on weekend boarding.

    Yo Lci!!

Very cool! That takes some cajones. Where is Devil's Peak?
  16. I'm wearing size 10 Flow Talon BOA boots. I'm using size Large Flow NX2-GT bindings. They fit well. My riding buddy is using the same setup except he has size 12 boots and XL bindings. One thing that we both notice is that as the day moves along, snow can build up on the front part of the boot (in the lace area). This causes the boot not to engage forward far enough and it makes it difficult to close the highback. Anyone else notice this problem?

    GoPro Editing

Hi - I have some GoPro footage of snowboarding - both carving & powder. I'm too lazy to learn how to edit these into something more interesting to watch. Does anyone know of a video editing service (online or walk-in) that does good work for a reasonable price?
  18. I think most of us here have met & liked Jim & Angie and want to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, I know someone who has dealt with a lot of people charged with economic crimes and they can be very charming and good at hiding their secret lives. It might be one thing if they "barrowed" the money to prop up the business temporarily with full intent to pay it back once things improved and then found themselves on a slippery debt slope. It is another thing to "barrow" money to spend on fishing trips, expensive restaurants, etc. There are probably only two people who know the true story.
  19. When Jim & Angie took over the business from Fin, I thought: "This would be a very difficult business in the best of circumstances": 1) A product called "Bomber" as in it never breaks. 2) A difficult product to evolve to add features to make enthusiasts want to buy new ones. 3) An aging demographic. 4) A sport which is not seen as "cool" by youngsters so little desire for them to pick it up. 5) A relatively expensive sport. 6) Difficult to find gear. 7) A seasonal sport. ? Serious product liability. etc, etc, etc. A young enthusiastic couple comes along and wants to turn their passion for snowboarding into a livelihood. Even if there was no bad intent from the beginning, this seems like a recipe for failure.
  20. I'd guess no. I've bought a Classic Pass every year for the last 10 or so but even if there was a gathering this year, I'll likely not attend.

    Yo Lci!!

Pete - You may have moved on but your voice is still here on CPR. Think you'll be boarding at Taos or Sandia? Glad to hear that things are going well for you.

    Yo Lci!!

Too old for crashing. However, my wife & I went skydiving in Longmont on Saturday for her 60th. Short, fun, intense, expensive. Big adrenaline rush.

    Yo Lci!!

Looks like the new "Chet's Dream" high speed detachable quad is on its way to replace Old #1. You Lift 1 guys will be able to get twice as many runs in as in earlier seasons! Every time I hear Pete's voice on CPR I wonder about how he is doing in ABQ. Anyone hear from him?
  24. I'd say that Loveland or A-Basin are the most reliable early season in Colorado. However, neither of them are "resorts". They both are just old-style ski areas.
  25. Our house backs to a golf course. I don't golf. Once in a while we'll see a golfer with just 1 - 3 clubs. They look so much happier than the ones with a full bag.
