  1. Ohhhhh I drank that coolaid already too but I went for TheCult 169. Figured I’m just learning and mostly riding with soft boot buddies so it will be more versatile. Hope something like the Full Carve is in my future though.
  2. Regarding canting... in your case, SunSurfer, if your angles were steeper than 60, you would cant outwards, or less than 60 you would cant inwards?
  3. Awesome! That paint job is killer... Eager to hear how you like the SG. I imagine I’ll look into one of those full carves as a partner to my SG The Cult after I get some skills built up. I don’t see a ton of reviews of the SG boards out there. How do you like the fit on the RC12s? Finally got around to getting boot work started on mine. My boot guy measured 100mm width vs my 110mm wide foot, so he’ll be punching them out quite a bit. Seems these UPZ aren’t actually that wide in the mid foot... but I still have room for toes to wiggle, so yes the “toe box” seems decently roomy. Picking them up tomorrow or Sunday. Hoping the new custom orthotics will help too as I pronate a ton and have always had pain in soft boots before.
  4. I have one. Mint condition. I’ll send you a DM.
  5. Thanks... I’m not planning on racing any time soon. Should I still file the edges? Any other tricks or specific types of tape that work better than others?
  6. Is there a good way to protect the tail, sidewall, edges of top sheet? My new SG The Cult is a beauty... but I’m clumsy. Worried I might munch the sidewalls when shuffling to the lift line. Thick duct tape? SGSnowboards actually recommends filing the top sheet edges with a hand file on their race boards?! What about the tip and tail? Unrelated... is it recommended to use a leash on the front foot?
  7. Thanks! I have the Burton bag already but its really a 165 max. My 169 fits but it’s super tight and worry about some grumpy baggage guy smashing the tips up. So given that I already have the soft bag for my smaller soft boot boards, I went with the Sport Tube 3 for heavier duty trips.
  8. Any idea if it’s possible to make the SG a step in by using Intec parts from F2s?
  9. Link to that Dakine please? I don’t see it on their site. Sporttube looks cool too. Really hoping to fit boots as I’m traveling onwards after the mountain. Suppose I could shuffle some packing cubes around once I land.
  10. Hey hey... Any good options for airline travel bags for a hard boot setup? Board is 170cm so it's a struggle to fit in my Burton wheelie bag. Ideally I'd like to fit the boots in there, and outerwear too, like I do with my soft setup but obviously would need some serious padding.
  11. I was in EXACTLY the same situation as you... until today. Well almost, I’m totally new to hard booting, but felt pretty confident carving my various soft boot setups. I’m also in your weight range. Decided to go all-in on a new setup with size 27 UPZ 12, SG Perf bindings, and the SG The Cult 169 board. This was all based on recommendations from the forum, shops, and the fact that I knew the Deeluxe 225s don’t fit width wise, even at a size up 28. Since im a noob I don’t have any real wisdom to share other than some ininitial indoor observations: The UPZ boots seem to fit true to size. I measured 27.5cm on both feet, and after heat molding, the Size 27 RC12s are still snug as hell. The SG bindings seem great. The metal base plates look aerospase grade! Lift and can’t adjustment is limited to shims, and you only get one size. Not sure if that will be a problem moving forward, but most other bindings besides Catek are limited to shims too... so level playing field. The SG board feels like a beast. I was worried I’d be on the far end of the weight range but it feels stiff as hell to me in hand so I’m sure it will be fine for fun carving. I went with the high end of their suggested binding angles at 45/38 at reference width, and could def go even lower angles if I want to.
  12. Interested... tried sending a PM but said you couldnt receive messages?? Maybe try messaging me?
  13. I’m a noob but I’d be interested to participate in some sessions too, if that helps. I’m in Maine but willing to travel.
  14. Hey hey. Shopping for a Coiler that can lay big turns but also chase soft boot buddies around all day too. Research leads me to Coiler and the AMT (but Nirvana or Angryy sound cool too, or maybe the right Donek?). I’m 215lbs with 27.5 hoofs riding mostly east coast mountains. I’m a noob so hoping to try a used board to get a better idea for what I want in a custom in the future. Few nice Coilers in the for sale section but figured I’d see if the perfect unicorn is out there before making any final decisions. Let me know what you’ve got!
  15. I will be in Vail January 11-13. I'm a noob to hard boot carving and would love to grab a lesson for maybe a half day or at least an hour or two. Any recommendations for proper instructors? Or if anyone is patient enough to handle a ham fisted east coaster, I'd be happy to pay whatever your time is worth.
  16. I am 100% NOT sure so comments appreciated.
  17. If that was directed at me... I'm not really sure but probably close to 28 to allow lower angles as I progress. Thanks!
  18. What size boots are you rocking with that 28cm waist? Do you think you can get away with a longer SCR for bigger turns, or is the 8-10 the right number for east coast? How would the board handle the afternoon crud in hard boots? My increasing interest in carving, and increasing foot pain in soft boots, is leading me to investing in a hard boot setup for all day, all mountain riding. Flux seems like a great option for the deck!
  19. Hey hey. Just getting into hard boot carving this year after getting pretty fast & low on my soft boot setup. Is there anywhere in New England that sells a range of hard boots, or Upz boots in particular? Have a used set of Track 225s but I dont think they're gonna work, but not so bad that I'm not gonna drag them up to Sunday River this weekend.
  20. Texted with full price offer.
