  1. I got a Kessler test board for this weekend, I think, maybe? Don't know the length or anything, maybe it's a 162, maybe a 168, maybe it can even be a 156 lady's board, everyone thinks I'm a lady apparently. I see will
  2. I even have the bottom graphics, deal wit it
  3. All I see is magic bullet this, magic bullet that, magic bullet blah blah blah whatever daveo
  4. same weight really, I've only had rc12 not rc10, think 12 is stiffer than 10, but rcr is so much fun with the additional response and power, could really lean into it once I get the setup dialed in. I'm young-ish, could probably take the stress and work for a few years before going lax-carving. Liners fit well, super cold tho hello daveo here you go
  5. I'd think for both the 163 and 185 there really isn't an upper limit, the ~70kg is just reference taken from SG's specs (fullrace pro team) and how Kessler categorize his boards by weight.
  6. Complete Newbie to hardboots this year, been carving softies for two seasons First board: SG FullCarve 175 @daveo yes it's technically Ladie's GS, no I'm not a lady Boots: First RC12, too much wiggle, downsized 15mm and straight to RCR 2nd board for Europe's crowded slopes: Nobile 166 SL Ti from the Polish carver extraordinaire @slapos Literally got it one hour ago, love the pink stickers Holy cow that FullCarve looks nice in photographs, love the graphics, now I have to fight with @SHREDSURF to the death for prettiest 17-18 FC
  7. Eww, get your facts straight, I ride a 175 and it's GREAT, AM I A WOMAN? AND, Ledecka rides 185, IS SHE A MAN???? hi daveo but yea for up to ~55kg the 50(also kids), to ~70kg 57/75, to ~80kg the 80, 70kg+ or a pro rider 63/85, just look at 4 models of FR Pro team, only 4 models(57, 63, 75, 85), 2 SL 2 GS 2 Male 2 Female. If you ride hardcore can go one level up
  8. Probably what Marguc was selling in the years leading up to Iron--Rock, so you have an Iron-Rock! Not surprised they'd all have at least micro-fractures, any catastrophic failures? From the photos I've seen of Allflex being ridden, it mainly bends in the middle, maybe the spring ones ARE BETTER. Also HI DAVEO I've seen those carbon plates absolutely bent crazy like the allflex in the middle from 2014 Olympics SL race, think it was Anke Wohrer. HI DAVEO I don't think it's even plagiarism or copying, seeing they're both made in Slovenia and how nice Slovenians are, it might have been the exact CAD file from Allflex, made at a seperate location.... Yea, he's a douche, talked to him for about three minutes and can already tell not a great guy.
  9. Wow, thanks for that, guess that's what they meant by Allflex lost the lawsuit. I'm guessing the Court ruled that snowboard plate is not protected by the patent and hence Iron-rock(or anyone else) can produce an exact copy. Also what they meant by Allflex designing the spring plate with a patent to protect it. Shitty thing for the people at Iron-Rock to do, but it is what it is..... Iron-Rock is made in Slovenia as well, not even a foreign shop, which really sucks.... I absolutely love Slovenia as a country, nicest people, highly educated and most importantly very, very trusting. Now I feel really bad for Allflex.....
  10. Speaking of this, I looked into the different cuts of Allflex with different stiffnesses right around the same time @nevingalmarini posted on the forward-lean thread about Ester and Nevin's setup. My takeaway was nothing but respect to the pro riders because of the almost fanatic approach they have towards more performance, no doubt the best either got all the different cuts and stiffnesses of Allflex (which will most definitely have different characteristics), or went to Slovenia to test them, in order to find one that fits them best. This information is also just, not on the open web, it's a whole different world of professionalism and expertise that you'd have to work closely with Aco Sitar in order to gain access to. Iron-Rock having just one cut with different stiffnesses seems too easy, now they have this carbon variant? Is it really performance oriented or just a gimmick??? I wonder........ I'm poor and unprofessional so I won't even get the chance to ride with Allflex for a long time, let along test all variants of Allflex...... HIIIII DAVEO
  11. Iron rock is charging ~800-900 euros Allflex new typically between 1.2-1.5k I believe Allflex mentions in the notice that they hold the patent, listed a number, I'll look into it in a bit. It is my understanding that Allflex has a proprietary aluminum alloy, possibly can take the long-term fatigue? The structure and mechanics of allflex is easily replicable if you have one in your hands, 3d scans, cnc and all, not to mention if it is true that Iron-Rock's people used to work with Allflex on R&D then they'd have the exact dimensions. I always thought what makes Allflex so special is the property of the alloy, what looks like an Allflex, weighs like an Allflex, just won't feel and perform like an Allflex. Didn't someone in Russia make a plastic version of Allflex? @Caswell HI DAVEO
  12. Additionally, Iron-Rock partners with other relatively new companies, Nobile for example, to do intensive marketing bombardment on facebook and other platforms. They are also distributed in Korea, Japan and China by also Nobile's distributors in each respective region, check Iron-Rock's website. Lastly, The Chinese distributor told me that they used to be the same company, but then they split, and Allflex lost the lawsuit so they had to come out with the spring version, to which my immediate response was WTF????? Allflex is forced to innovate because they lost the IP lawsuit???????? This photo is from ISPO Beijing where Iron-Rock and Nobile is shown by the same distributor Side note: This board from Nobile has one thick layer of PTEX layed between two layers of Titanal, interesting board indeed..... Let the scandal begin...... @daveo HI DAVEO
  13. Hi all, Prior reading and websites to look at: http://ironrock.eu/en/ https://www.allflexplate.com/ENG/Home http://carver.si/snowboard_plate_systems/allflex_plate_systems Here are some facts: Iron-Rock and Allflex is completely identical Iron-Rock did not exist until the 2018-2019 season Iron-Rock only has one type of cut under the plate, Rectangular, whereas Allflex has Triangular, Rectangular and Hexagonal, also a spring variant where there is a cut between the two middle inserts and two halfs connect with both spring and middle inserts (Refer to carver.si). When I talked to the distributor in China, he said that they only have Rectangular because it is the lightest, among other comments. Allflex has a very long allegation against Rok Marguc & gang on the website Allflex says the firm that makes the fake is in Slovenska Konjice, Iron-Rock's distributor in Slovenia is in a town called Oplotnica, which is 8 km away. Iron-Rock comes out with a nice website in SIX languages, including the three Asian countries who also happen to be the richest (and most ignorant) consumers. Chinese version is completely correct in translation, which means there's a cabal of international distributors working together to market the brand. A new company comes out with this many languages rubs me the wrong way.....
  14. I'm in Europe for the semester, when in 2020 will you be in Xi'An? Also I might be able to go to japan for a few days next December/January. HI DAVEO!
  15. You'll LOVE China, Most snowboarders are goofy Your own personal heaven HI DAVEO
  16. My feet are 260 and 262, I downsize to 245 RCR from 260, simply too much wiggle. All cuffs are one size so shin ban shouldn't be a problem, you can always get a thinner tongue. I have smaller volume asian feet so the top of my feet are snug, but I cannot say the same for others, from the photo you definitiely needed to downsize a shell lengthwise HI DAVEO
  17. My 2 cents on upz boots, with smaller asian feet feet are both 260, bought 260 liner, 287-299 shell rc12 and instantly had to sell them because too much toe room and ankle was just not fitting right. 260mm feet in the 287-299 shell had 3 fingers in the back during shell fit. I bought size 245 RCR and they fit like a dream, given my feet don't have a high arch. If your foot has a high arch, I'd recommend downsizing from 276 to 270, if not go to 265 or even 260(if you want it aggressive). Agree with buddy Daveo here, get extra lift kit. Also bail is fine, you're young, you can bend over and do the bail. Stop repping the K168, we know it's your magic bullet NA made boards are a great place to start, or an older one on the forum here, once you got about 10-15 days and maybe tried a few boards you can shell out the money for something like a K168, but then you're in IT....... If you have the cash, we can't say anything Also be prepared to have a large arsenal of boards in a few years time, hardboots do that to people......... HI DAVEO
  18. @Beckmann AG runs his backfoot a little bit more than his front no? If I recall. Personally I find 57/57 or even 57/58 is comfortable, because my back leg has some peculiar issues that with this and a bit of cuff-canting help eliminate. Recently I found shell-fitting on the board is great, meaning I take out the liners, strap the boots onto board, step into boot and get into my "norm", and then I look at the space on all sides of my lower leg, my back has uneven distribution so I added a little bit more cuff-canting and now it's completely left and right. But playing with these things often and finding out about what works and doesn't work for your body is a part of the process, as I'm finding out recently..... The recommended stance is only a guideline or a place to start.
  19. Gray has a huge presence in Japan, China and Korea, overpriced in my opinion. But they are tailor made for G-Force style turns, not as good as the european boards like kessler, oxess and sg, but definitely an interesting style. Yonex is very rare in China, don't know enough about them. The style and development of the boards make sense when considering the type of resorts they have in Japan, typically smaller, shorter, more packed powder and just generally much slower when concerning top speed.
  20. Just did my numbers: so if distance becomes 10mm, you only need like 0.45 mm of travel on the slide probably should define arclength to get max flex distance then we can take this and combine it with the Physics of a carve figure out the highest angulation without hitting the limit lol so if this is the case, Allflex’s 6.4mm travel would most certainly mean that the plate is designed to flex with the board, probably dont even have the spike once travel runs out, maybe somewhere along the bend travel the plate also starts flexing so you have a smooth pressure increase?
  21. Thinking about these sliding axle designs, there’s only so much space available for the axle to slide tho..... Im just thinking, if the board flexes to the point where the axle is stopped by the slide, that’d be..... very unpleasent See if people can make videos about all of these different plates flexing, I understand the boiler and sg are both super rigid carbon plates?
  22. Ok, holy crap, that just destroyed my entire understanding of these, i always thought these plates, boiler and sg included, are designed to be the immovable object that lets the board do whatever under them.... So if we were to draw a bend felling curve, when the board exceeds the range that these plates let them bend, you have the added stiffness from the plate suddenly to the stiffness of the board???? Wouldn’t such a spike in stiffness mess with it a bit? But also the guy just figured out a proprietary alloy that has a very good deformation curve for snowboarding..... On another note, boiler and sg plates have like an inch of travel or something? That doesnt sound like the board will fully deform freely, when that limit hits thats gonna be quite a jerk, literally!
  23. So just a normal medium volume liner for your exact mondo size should do the trick.
  24. In any case I'd just go with shell fit if the lining proves to be poop when I get mine in two weeks When ordering I went with size 260 and they gave me a 287 shell
