  1. I've only ridden the Two with hardboots and I've never tried any of the Sword boards.
  2. Jose, I have to agree. Other than trying to milk it for all it's worth the season, while short, was memoriable and fun. Oh look at that! They're loading the gondola now! Gotta go! Ciao ...

It's looking dismal today. The gondi won't be loading for another hour and the lower mountain trails are in bad shape. I saw less bare spots coming down Tenth at Wachusett yesterday than coming down Yodler just now. Yikes!
  4. Yeah, I knew it wasn't going to be good, but forecast showed rain just about everywhere. I figured if I was going to risk getting caught in the rain, at least Wachusett isn't far and I have a pass. I was bummed about it being closed earlier this week because I would have been out at least a couple of hours on Wed and Thu mornings. Jeff, send me a PM if you can make Stratton and I'll keep an eye out.
  5. Yeah, no kidding. I currently don't have a rock board, since I gave it up to a friend who desperately needed a board last minute earlier this season. I think the board I was on today, just became my new rock board. Looks like I'll be in for a new board next season.
  6. Next time I plan time off from work, I'll have to budget in travel expenses. Alas, my plan was less than perfect. Well here's something everyone can look forward to: It won't be long before I go back to being a cube dweller and next season when I'm stuck in the office, I'm sure it will be an epic snow season. Just wait... the best snow in 50 years to be sure!

Shhh... don't let the weather gods know, but I'm planning on being out tomorrow. Anyone else?
  8. I wouldn't for carving. I think you generally want as much edge as possible. Maybe for powder or a softboot freeride board, but I dunno about that. 'Detuning' sounds like something that's bad for you... like an out of tune guitar or something. :D
  9. I was there today in the rain! It is really, really bad. I'm not surprised if this is the last weekend. I've never been there when there's been so little cover and typically do not get there late in the season. The fact that I was there today, just shows you how desperate I am. I'll be at Stratton tomorrow. Will I see anyone else there? If anyone else is coming out from Boston, we could carpool (I can only take one passenger comfortably with gear... it would technically be possible to take two passengers, not so comfy for whomever is stuck in back, as long as nobody has a board over 170ish). If you're interested, let me know quickly though!
  10. Perhaps Bobby was right and this season was canceled before it began. I feel I owe everyone, especially fellow New Englanders, an apology. This dreadfully short season was almost certainly my fault. Late last year when things at work started to go badly, I came up with a brilliant (at the time) idea. I would leave my job in January and spend the winter snowboarding. The evil merciless weather gods had ideas of their own. The sad irony is that last year while putting in 14+ hour days at work I managed slightly more days on the mountain than this year. I'm sitting here in the lodge waiting for a break in the rain.* Conditions here are bad and I knew that coming out today but I'm still (naively?) determined to make the most of it. On my last run I figured I would spend some time practicing riding switch since the snow is really not good for much.* As soon as I had this thought the evil weather gods, determined to suck the last ounce of fun from my soul, unleashed their fury and started pelting me with freezing rain. You know, the kind that hurts when it hits you in the face. Damn you! I will not give up so easily! I'm heading out for at least a few more turns. Again, everyone, sorry for the short season.

I'll be out on Saturday. Looks like rain tomorrow... Brad, did you get out there today?
  12. Definitely camber. I believe they're manufactured in Austria. Not sure which manufacturer, though. Specs for the Two are on the Pure Boarding site here. And more complete (with SCR) on the Berkshire East Pure Boarding page: I could only find the lengths (162 and 168) listed for the Black Diamond and Bastard.
  13. I've ridden both the Pure Boarding Bastard/Black Diamond and the Two. I would consider both "easy going" carvers and good all around versatile boards. They're easy to get on edge, hold an edge well on soft and hard pack, and do not require a lot of speed to carve, although they can be ridden at speed fine. Of the two Pure Boarding models (the Bastard and the Black Diamond are the same board with different topsheet), I gravitated toward the Two mostly because the Bastard was very close to my Donek Axxess 162 in flex, feel, size, and shape. The Two has a smaller scr and carves tighter turns than the Bastard. For me, I felt I could get the Two to carve at slower speeds than the Bastard. Amazing how slow you can ride the board and still hold an edge. I used the Two for the pow day at ECES this year, and was extremely pleased with it's performance in powder. I would even consider taking it into the glades... maybe next year if there's more snow. One of the advantages that Joerg boasts about the PB boards is that he uses the same board for everything: powder, icy hard pack, fresh on top of groom, soft spring, etc. My PB Two is my go-to board when I'm having trouble on tricky snow. I've been using it almost exclusively for the soft spring mush as of late. On the down side, they're not easy to find. :-( You can get them new from http://www.carversparadise.com/, but they're not cheap. I've never seen a used one for sale on Bomber.
  14. Btw, I spent some time looking into apps such as Tapatalk, Forum Runner and others. They all require plugin software to be installed on the server running the forum. While vBulletin is definitely supported and these plugins are free to install, they do require some admin work to install, setup, and maintain the plugins. Once the plugins are installed and activated on the forum, then apps like Tapatalk can be used to access the forum from mobile devices. In summary, Tapatalk and other apps could be used, but they require some work on BOL's part to install the necessary plugins to enable the apps.
  15. I was planning on going to Wachusett today and tomorrow for a couple of hours in the morning, but after a delayed opening and early closing on Tuesday, they're closed until the weekend in an attempt to save what little snow is left. Once they start doing that, it's pretty much over.
  16. At this point it's looking like I'll be at Stratton on Saturday. I might head to Bretton Woods on Friday depending on the weather (please, no rain, please). Next week looks really bad. I'm seeing temps in the 70s and later in the week 80s (81 on Thursday!). The NH and ME forecasts look the same but with rain most of the week. I feel like I'm in hell.
  17. Thanks... that pretty much confirms my suspicions. I've also looked around and have found that all standard M6 screws use 4 mm hex keys, and M8 uses 5 mm.
  18. It looks like there's a few new faces in the Boston area. Unfortunately, Wachusett and other local mountains are nearly done for the season. If we want to continue carving, we need to head north. There is still plenty of good snow in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. In fact, Stowe just got another 3 inches of snow recently. I'm planning on heading up to VT or NH on Tuesday. I'm guessing most people are looking for Weekend plans? Perhaps we could plan on meeting up at Stratton (or somewhere else in VT or NH) on Saturday or Sunday? I'm fairly flexible, so let me know what works for you. Would love to meet up and carve some turns. Best regards, Michael
  19. Does anyone know of any mobile apps that will work with BOL?
  20. I've recently discovered that by moving my front angle up to 55 from 50, I could more easily get my hips turned in on heelside carves. At 50, I found myself sitting on the toilet quite a bit and when I tried to turn my hips square I had difficulty maintaining pressure on my front heel as my weight would drift to my back leg. I left my back angle alone, so moving the front angle up also increased the splay which may have helped. Original angles were 50/46, now I'm riding 55/46.
  21. Just a bit off-topic, but does anyone know where you can get TD3 compatible hardware that takes 5 mm hex keys? All of the M6 screws at McMaster-Carr use the smaller 4 mm hex keys. Not that it's a big deal, but then you need to carry both 4 and 5 mm keys if you start mixing. I realize Bomber does carry extra hardware, but was wondering where to find the stuff in bulk. Thanks.
  22. Does anyone know of any differences in the 09/10 Track 325 (black with red buckles and lettering) and 225 (silvery/gray with blue buckles and lettering) versus the corresponding newer models other than the color scheme? I'm specifically interested in the 225s. Are there any differences to the fit, feel and flex of the 09/10 version compared to later versions? Thanks!
  23. Sorry to hear you're done for the season. I'm trying to stretch it to April, but it will be difficult this year, unless I make a trip out west. Well at least we're not the same size, so I don't need to worry about you beating me to the punch on boots. :)
  24. No, sorry. I traded the step in parts away for standards and the Fin Tec heels have also been sold.
  25. Damn, you guys are fast. That's what I get for going out and riding all day, and then crashing when I get home because I'm so tired. Khanh, I didn't realize you were looking for F2s.... let me know if they don't work out and I'll be happy to take them off your hands. :D
