  1. I just overheard from radio, WTOP (DC area), that having a poll that if soccer would become a popular sport like basketball, baseball, or American football in US over your lifetime by resulting US team advanced to 2nd round in 2010 WC. My guess is .... not popular as much those sports but at least may become one of top 5 interested sports. Soccer in US will be growing fast. Evident facts are: 1. US Women's soccer is one of best in the world. 2. Soccer is most active and popular sports for Middle/High school girls. 3. David Beckham joined the L.A. Galaxy 4. # of Soccer loving immigrants in US is growing One way or the others, tailgate party prior to soccer game is getting popular here in DC. Non-soccer fans are even going for the tailgate parties just for fun. Hmmm... then I thought about Alpine snowboarding.. If we throw a good tailgate party at ski resort parking lot for SES or ECES, will it be a factor to popularize alpine snowboarding?
  2. Wow.. This video reminds me of Korean traditional Tightrope Dancing. If I remember correctly, the tightrope dancing was performed around 700 AC and descended to late 19th century. Then the group, Male Traveling Entertainers (Nam-Sa-Dang) to have this tightrope riding as one of their main performance. The rope is placed 5m above the ground and a performer with a folding fan walks, spins, and jumps on the rope. I searched the Korean Google and found out that you can still watch the show on weekend in NamSaGol Traditional Village in Seoul. Check out this video. Tightrope Dancing

  7. OK.. This thread needs some BOOST. For non-soccer fans, Pick one from this video and cheer for the one's country (You may choose two) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgneXUVxhgg

  9. BOL is one of my favorite forums that I check at least every other days..but didn't have a tread for World Cup 2010. So here it is. I'm pulling for S.Korea and Germany.
  10. Well.. iphone is like iPod. For mp3 player, there had been a lot of better mp3 players available on the market such as iRiver. But marketing and vibe of iPad of Apple had dominated the market. Nowadays, you can find many arm bands, cars, stereo system, and many more gizmos just comparable with iPod. I see that same pattern is already happening in smart phone market. If then, what are you going to choose, iPhone vs Android?
  11. It's High1 ski resort, same resort as KangWonLand, the biggest casino place in Korea. I believe it's only 2 or 3 seasons old. Here are the slope info. http://www.high1.com/eng/skiSlope/slope-list.high1 For last few years, Korea got dumped like last season in Eastern US. So check it out next when you are head to Korea.
  12. I don't mind wearing even prison striped one piece suit if I can carve like you. Hats off to you and Congrat 25th year.
  13. Thanks!. Great Info it is. It's great to know the history of alpine snowboards. I was introduced to alpine snowboarding by a european rider who had been alpine boarding for 10 years (it was year 1996/97 so he must be started riding around 1985 at age of 10 ) His style was Euro style riding and the riding he only knew was carving. I taught him to ride in freestyle and doing some air tricks and hitting half pipe. Impressive thing was he could just do that easily on his Oxygen F-57 by afternoon. :)
  14. Well.. Since last sunday, PGA Tour was introduced to new era of golf by Rory McIlroy. Not only Tiger's equipment, but Tiger himself also became a piece of history. Now there will be no more Jim Furik types of playing will get them near trophies since these young bucks can go really really low any given day. (ie, AK's 65 on Maser's, Vilegas's multiple 63s on many tournaments, Rory's 15 under last 2 days at Quail Hallows, Ryo Ishikawa's 58 last Sunday)
  15. oh well.. boot size is small for me. I'll pass. Thanks for the photos.

  19. Thanks.. Sherburne Trail is what I was talking about!
  20. Dang... then it would be 20 min. waiting for 20 seconds of fame but still way better than 2 hours of climbing 70 degree upright cliff. :) Stevo: You're welcome. You wouldn't got the Indy if it was Mondo 28 Although snowboarding down from head-wall to bottom of the bowl is one of memorable experience, if I look back, I was more stoked to take a trail (can't remember the name and too lazy to look up) down to Pinkam's Notch. It was about good 30 min. riding with few stops. Although it was little narrow and bumpy, where could anyone get off-piste snow and backcountry type of run down in East Coast? Yesterday Mammoth got 2' snow but Yeah we have Tuckerman's Ravine and the trail. Let's not get depressed.
  21. Great..Just Great.. I spent good 2 hours to climb up and took me 30 seconds to get down. Even though it's only bottom half of the bowl (upper half of the bowl was actually too steep for me to do anything except sucking up the air and praying for no avalanch ), I'll take 2 min. ride on that thing and enjoy 20 seconds of riding.
  22. ??? Isn't this Tuckerman's Ravine? When did it have the lift like that? I rode there from spring of 98/99 to 02 every year and nothing like that was exist.
  23. Just happened to me last weekend when I and friend (also hardbooter) were driving a golf cart going down a steep downhill cart path. He (driver) was trying to ride on edges of tires and I was reaching my arms to touch some dirt on passenger-side turn.
