  1. No, that is when I am back from Park City. And the new Coiler will be on display in a glass case, behind a red velvet rope, guarded by a big dude on roids if I get the board by SNES. I'm completely prepared that I won't get it in time for this season. I'm also looking to close a deal on a Bomber Plate this week. I rode one at SES and was just plowing through some chopped up afternoon snow. In the AM I was like: "meh, no big deal". Then in the afternoon I was like "GARRR!!, ruts and snow piles, you are no match for me!"
  2. A hefty 155, about 160 with all my gear on. This thing is almost as stiff as my Donek Metal FC 175.
  3. If we make it the weekend of March 28/29, I can go.
  4. Save yourself some money and buy my freeride deck: http://forums.bomberonline.com/index.php?/topic/40843-steepwater-171-steep/ 171 Steepwater Steep, ~11m side-cut, 25cm waist, very little camber so it's damp, the core is THICK so it's stiff like a carving board. I believe it has P-Tex sidewalls and top sheet. It's too stiff for me for a free ride deck, I needed something softer and now I ride it's little brother, a 164. In comparison, the 164 replaces a Burton Supermodel 163 and the Steepwater is about 10x more capable as a carving board. The bigger radius side-cut and the stiffness and dampness of the board allow me to pull off some really bad impressions of the Pureboarding/Eurocarve style all while being able to slide the board around like a typical freeride. I have not taken it in the powder, but considering the original purpose of the board, I have no doubt that this can handle the task better than any mainstream board out there.
  5. I just got off the phone with Bruce and he says that the tighter radius in the tail helps complete a turn vs. turn early and accelerate down the hill of the progressive or two radius boards. I have a Donek Rev with a 14-20m side-cut and it absolutely does not complete a turn, My Donek Metal FC with a 12-14m side-cut will complete a turn, but not as good as my tri-radius Coiler or my single side-cut boards
  6. Aspen Sports at the base of Snowmass did this for me for my last day on the mountain. I may just replicate their solution. Thanks for all the info on this guys.
  7. Yeah, you can't beat the exchange rate right now. I may have to buy a Prior Powstick for the exchange rate savings alone.
  8. Cool,I'll be monitoring this thread for details.
  9. I may jump into a Nirvana Balance Torsion with a p-tex top sheet, vCam if possible. This would literally be fully loaded.
  10. In my opinion, Jackson Hole is not that great of an alpine/carving mountain, bring your soft boot gear. The terrain is steep and narrow. The narrow is what makes it not as fun as it could be. It funnels skiers into a congested snow scraping and mogul producing crowd on some runs, then the runs completely open up. The trail system has lots of cat-walks and traversing. There is some decent stuff at skiers left of the mountain under Casper Quad for carving. Grooming is almost non-existant since the mountain is so damn big and it's mostly blacks through trees and gullies. I've heard much better about Grand Targhee for carving and snowboarding in general. GT is about a 45 minute bus ride from Jackson. The only reasons I could fathom a Jackson Hole visit over Grand Targhee: You have a Mountain Collective Pass You know someone at Jackson Hole that can show you around You really want to lap the Tram and get 20k vertical before lunch Massive snow and you have a freeride/powder board
  11. I'll be in Whistler with some friends. If you want to ride with an intermediate carver, reply here and we can set something up.
  12. There is nothing in Jackson for alpine rentals that I know of. Head over to the Idaho, Montana and Wyoming ride forums and post there. There is a thing called Carvers Out West (COW) going on soon. If you ask nicely you might be able to borrow someone's personal board for a few runs.
  13. Nice video and welcome. Carves is carves to me, softboot or hard boot. It's pretty impressive that you can butter in and out of a carve. And I too like the "How to really really really carve" video.
  14. What about a Nirvana Balance with Torsion-plus and vCam too? Can we add any more options?
  15. Hey Dave, I traded with Dave Winters since his son is sponsored by Donek. Angie and I figured that he could use the board credit to get Billy to China for Junior World Championship.
  16. First off, welcom to the forum. You will find a TON of information and advice here, starting with this: If you are lokoing for opinions on what bindings to get, you can't really go wrong with the older Burton Race Plates. F2 bindings would be a good choice too. They are usually pretty easy to find and are inexpensive in the For Sale section of this forum. Good luck with your binding search
  17. Let's play a game... If you were in the market for a new Coiler board, and it has to be a new Coiler, what board would you choose and why. Price is not a concern and it HAS to be a new Coiler, preferably under 176 cm to fit into my snowboard bag.
  18. I had a rivet break and all the boot rental and fitting shops I visited can't peen the aluminum rivet over the washer because they don't have the tools. I have Deeluxe replacement parts waiting for me in a plastic baggie, I just don't know how to replace the rivet. Any thoughts? Also the other rivet on the other boot is a bit loose so I'd like to replace that one too, but how does one break it loose?
  19. I can whole-heartedly recommend The Stew Pot at Snowmass. Do yourself a favore and get the lamb shank dinner.
  20. I'll take the bindings! Please send me your PayPal details.
  21. I second this. I tried Sidewinders on an O-Sin 4807 in the powder because that is all I had with me. Totally overkill and way to heavy, even for a stiffer softbood board like a Donek Saber. Using Burton/Ibex/Carve Company plates was better as the weight was not much different than a pair of light weight strap bindings. However, the Track 700 boots are still much heavier than soft boots. Plates in powder is a compromise at best. I'd rather be in a light weight softie setup and use a shorter board and/or float more.
  22. Removing the spoiler should give you some room. Also verify that you have the FAS-154 top straps: http://www.yyzcanuck.com/store/Deeluxe-Track-AF-Cuff-Strap-Long-FAS-154.html And make sure your tooth plate is in the furthest "out" position. If you have the FAS-153 strap, you have the short strap. It's hard to find the strap size number, put it's on the underside of the plastic strap, close to the anchor point. I'm heading to SES, I'll be there Saturday before noon and will throw the extra FAS 154 straps in my bag for you. Send me a PM for contact info so I can get you the straps if you need them. The cost to you is a beer at Bumps Bar. Another thing you can try is remold your liners and cinch down your top buckles a little more to move/compress the foam a little more in that area.
  23. I use 45/15 on my freeride/powder boards for the mobility and surfy feeling. No cant or slight outward cant, mostly lift.
