@Fathermathew In the beginning of this thread boots were emphasized. Let me reemphasize them as the foundation of your setup. "Popular" doesn't necessarily mean they fit your foot shape. Deeluxe fit some feet UPZ others and Mountain Slope others. In my thinking Mountailn Slope will fit the most people, UPZ a little less and Deeluxe the least. There are vocal advocates of each type but really it comes down to individual fit - your feet are yours. Pay less attention to boot features. Jack outlined the fit characteristics of each earlier in the thread. Bindings, intec, BTS, lift, SCR etc are very important but secondary.

I received this a while ago and rode it once. In 2020 during the beginnings of covid, John Gilmour visited me and I got to show him this board. He told me it looks to have come from the 2nd run after their 1st batch of 3 boards and this is maybe #4 or #5. He also said it's possibly the best condition 170 of this early batch in existence. Others have warped. Also, subsequent boards didn't have the same "juice" as these OG's. He mentioned the idea of riding it to victory in the Nationals! It does have a few top surface edge chips mostly around the nose, and binding marks. The inserts are brass - none are stripped (JG cursed their decision to use brass). 5/8"+ of camber. Edges are wide, no dings or rust. "Pebble" base material, with light scratches (no gouges or fills due to its super hardness). No warping. I didn't tune, grind or touch anything - original condition as received. Glad to answer questions. Give the sad boy a new home. Maybe you're not a buyer, but if you have pertinent info on this board and other 170’s of this vintage chime in! I'm interested in the informed conversation here on ASB. $1200

BTW: Burton's plastic bindings of the same vintage are subject to a similar fate for "full size" adult use.

⬆ ... can you say wet sock?! Glad you didn't get hurt worse. There's lots of other boots in the classifieds that might allow you to ride again! At 195# with large foot the above photo is not a surprise.

FS: Burton Freecarve Boots M24 These were great for introducing my kid into hardbooting and certainly forgiving. Has "walk" mode. In good condition, but not meant for a racer or hard use due to age. [Edit: as noted these were great for my teen daughter to get into hardbooting at around 100# a couple of years ago. There were no issues experienced. That said, they are not intended to be use for racing, hard carving, or for a heavyweight. Be aware they are old and subject to distress. Plastics do get old and brittle] $60 Shipped to USA

Got my heart rate up for sure. Q: 1) Would walkie talkies help here, like on a backpack strap. I've been using them with carving to send a warning beep to my buddy when I see a straightliner pass me. 2) Yelling. How about the rescuer yelling for help!? 3) We don't see it but does the rescuer make radio contact for additional help...maybe not needed after the dig out? Wouldn't that guy be too cold or traumatized to ride out?

Increasing the highback forward lean really helped me. Thanks @RoroSnow I used 25 & 30mm set allen set screws. You can see the black original screw with flat sides (not sure why).

In any case, fault boils down to who was the uphill/downhill skier. Awareness of this is good for us.

What doesn't make sense is she said she heard grunting and he was there 2-3 seconds. That doesn't sound like a collision to me. The doctor says he broke ribs on his left side consistent with being hit... Also reducing the suit from $3M to $300K is a strange thing for him to do.

I believe it was @bigwavedave who has successfully experimented with removing the outermost bumpers to preserve board flex...

It's a "he said/she said" case and regardless of who is right/wrong here, one thing about the Paltrow lawsuit case is that it is highlighting on national TV skier's responsibility code #2: "People ahead or downhill of you have the right-of-way. You must avoid them." Maybe a person who never knew that will become aware!

When I used them I felt the same way. They really affected board flex, making turn radius longer with a some improvement in ride comfort, but not that of a plate...
