  1. Tim Talk to me the first time I met you . You were on skis and a die hard skier at that. Frank
  2. Never thought I'd ask this question but here it goes . Every once in awhile I think that maybe I missed something not learning how to ski.I've always traced the roots of every thing else I've ever done when I was learning how to play guitar it was Robert Johnson surfing it was the old Hawaiians. But the first time I ever tried sking my friends took me to the top of the hill and said see ya later we'll meet you at the bottom. I was in levis and a sweatshirt you know the type? By the time I got to the bottom I could barely snowplow.Anyway my friends really got a kick out of that one.But also on this trip I'd brought a Sims skiboard and deciced to give it a try and the end of the day hiking up a little powder shute that I spotted on the side of the road. This time my friends were sitting and waiting for me tired and wanting to go home.Well that first run was all it took and I never looked back or at another pair of skis .After 25 years I'm thinking maybe I should try it one more time. You know the roots thing or should I get past it .I used to see skiers as the enemy how stupid is that.I know alot good snowboards that still ski and they rip.So my question is how many of you still ski and did it help you to become a better carver? Frank
  3. Greg Right on bro have a good Thanksgiving carving your new speedster. Frank
  4. Tim The avatar pic is razor backs up at the Hollister ranch on a huge day but Rincon can and does get that good but not to often.I was riding a 8 ft. balsa wood gun that I brought back from the north shore that Mike Diffenderfer shaped it was one of those once in a life time magic boards all chamberd out and very light .There were only two of us out on this day nobody wanted it. As for Pipeline not sure if I could meet the challenge I spent ten years of my life trying to master that wave and that was before the crowds arrived. Heres one wave I did make I had more hair back then . On my head that is. Frank
  5. Tim Just got out of the water rode my longboard at C street. Two foot ankle snappers. The winds have been blowing santanas and we've had wild fires burning all week.Mammoth as been mashed potatoes and no snow in the forecast. Something gotta give need to carve real bad. Frank
  6. Tim I like doing curls with a 12oz. bottle of Coors Light. Frank
  7. I think cleaning up the carbonfiber lamination is more important. Quality and durability is my vote. Frank
  8. Raphael I'm waiting for a new 168 M to arrive. The new swoards which are being made by Virus look great.I've always liked the EC style of riding because it reminds me so much of surfing. It"s totaly different from any of my other boards.Which I think makes it a good addition to the quiver. My surfboards range from a 6'6 rocket fish to 9'6 big wave guns and classic longboards as well. Its all good Race,EC, Freestyle let the good times roll. Frank
  9. Do you still have bindings if so drop me an e-mail. Frank
  10. Thanks to all of you and with Gods speed my son comes home safe from Iraq.I taught him how to snowboard from the time he could walk. Frank
  11. I live in the Ojai valley which is 12 miles inland from Ventura and my hometown of Santa Barbara ca. which is known for some of the best point breaks in world Rincon for one and the Hollister ranch just north of S.B. where the picture of my avatar was taken. But is also home of one of the worst oil spills to hit the California coast. If you've ever experienced a oil spill trust me its something you'll never forget.especially if your surfer or a person that enjoys the outdoors and the ocean.Do we need the oil? It powers the lifts, our cars that takes us to the lifts and produces the resin that makes our snowboards and surfboards. So what do we do ? Well check out this guys website and see that there are people that are trying to make a defernce. This guy collects vegetable oil from some of the local restaurants and recycles it to power his dodge 4x4. Maybe not enough veggie oil to power the world but maybe enough to keep my son from being deployed to Irag. His bag is packed and will be leaving before Christmas.Well I guess we won't be carving together for the holidays. Love and peace Frank

  16. When I first posted this thread I was looking at a 185 undertaker . So today I added it to the quiver. That pic of digger did it for me. Thanks digger I feel like a born again powder hound. Frank
  17. Mike I feel the same about the 4807 . I used softies my first time out on it and it worked ok. But when I put TDs and clicked my boots into walked mode the board came alive It plowed thru the chop and crud effortlessly. Frank
  18. Bryan How did the event turn out? Sorry I couldn't make it .Did Sims race ? Give us a update . Frank
  19. Thanks for the replys and pics. I love blowing by skiers and jibbers with boards that are to small to handle the pow . Frank
  20. I just rode my 4807 178 in pow with hard boots and td2s and it was unreal. How does the undertaker compare? Frank
  21. Jim , Boot out is like dragging a anchor. sorry I didn't respond to your thread when I first read it . Like I last posted wrench on the hill until you get it right. It's like finding the right placement for a surfboard fin. Moving the fin completely changes the way a board rides. But when you find that sweet spot it make the effort all worth it. How sweet it is. Frank .
  22. Bordy, Sounds good love that sweet spot I'll keep my wrench on hand. Frank
  23. Thanks for the replys I guess I'll just have to mount that little rebel and take it for a test ride . Tim have you been going to Mammoth ? I'm going up the weekend with Terry to June . I just heard about the vintage race and it sounds like it good be a blast. I still have my first sorels and old sims race boards. But back to this little demon 158 MADD.I always love a challenge and didn't think it would be a the problem child.
  24. I just received my new 158 and was wondreing what settings work best for these little buggers. I used the forward setting on my 170 and it worked well. I've been useing a 60 58 angles .
