We had a paddle out For Tom yesterday at Hammonds Reef in Santa Barbara it was his favorite place to surf, fish and free board.It was nice to see old friends I had not seen in a long time.I will always think of him every time I see a kid on a skateboard or snowboard.He will be missed. Frank

utahcarver what snowboard did you ride in 1979 winterstick?

This must be old salty dog week,I just got back from the sacred craft surf expo and saw Tom Morey, I was talking to Yater and the legends started pouring out of the wood work.It was pretty cool because they still have the stoke after all these years of being master craftsman and shapers.I also rode for Bahne when Mike Hynson was shaping for them.It was a white pigment down railer with hand painted pin lines and one of the nicest glass jobs I'd ever scene ,those guys knew how to glass.Don't get me wrong there were a lot of good shapers and glassers in Santa Barbara but those boards were sick.Most boards at the time had turned up rails except for old Tom Morey Blue machines.

Just when I was going to wank about how crowded Rincon is these days the queen of the coast slaps me in the face.

I just got out of the water,I've had a shoulder injury for the last four months and tried to surf today. It was so painful I could barely paddle.Thank god I can still carve or I'd go nuts.I think I might live in my Vw van in the june parking lot next season. Frank

Wish I could ride closing day but I said my good byes to the liftys and gunsmoke at snes.I didn't ride mammoth this season so looking forward to some spring carving at the big M.Make some turns for me. Frank

Maybe next year we can request one day to be roped off like they do for the race club when they use gunsmoke.:p:biggthump

Was the skier tailgating?

Loc,Thanks for taking all the pics my Go Pro footage didn't come out that great.Not having a zoom, you would have to ride to close for comfort to get a good close up.I guess I'll have to practice tailgating.

George,Sorry to hear about your injury heal fast so we can ride next season and catch up on some of those stories about the first days of snowboarding.It was great meeting everyone that attended the event.I even saw Neil without his mask you lost your title as misto carve.Thanks for putting the event together.See you on the slopes.
