  1. My skate quiver: Bozi Mad Bomber, Randal 180's (hillbomber\slide) Insect Dragonfly, Tracker RTX/RTS trucks (hillcarver) Roe Unlimited Foam Core, Splitfire/Indyoffset (Hybrid/GS Race) Roe Bullet Foam Core, Splitfire/Indyoffset (TS Race) Carveboard (hillcarver) I use both 3DM and ABEC11 wheels and MOC9 bearings. I also have a park setup but it doesn't get used very often. IMHO: The carveboard has the most alpine snowboard feet to it, it is like riding a very short raduis slalom board. It feels like I am doing cross-under turns on my Madd158. I can carve steep hills with this board and control speed with turns and tire air pressure. You don't want to go over 15mph on this board it get scary and it is alot of board hauling it back up the hill. The insect is a fun all around board to ride. I have ridden it through cones with about 6-7ft spacing. I spend most of my skateboarding time racing and love the boards from Roe. Great construction and feel. If anyone is intrested in giving any of these boards a try and live in my area let me know. We have a group of local riders that skate and race in the Boston Area. I live about 30 mins north of Boston in Beverly, MA.
  2. Is there an age minimum for team members. I thought last year I saw one listed some where but I looked at the web page and couldn't find one. I have a 13 year old daughter who races in USASA and usually does quite well at nationals.
  3. Well I just got back to work after a great time in Chile. Thanks go out to Anton and Phil for putting on a great camp. I also need to thank my wife for allowing us to make the trip; she stayed home and held down the fort while we were out playing. We had almost every condition imaginable to train and play in the snow. Both of my kids (Ben 15 and Millie 13) had a great time and are already asking if we could do it again next year. If any of you Bomber people are interested in racing or running gates I highly recommend this camp. The coaching was great and the video review every night was very helpful. I was watching some of the training video yesterday and it was interesting to see how much everyone progressed during the camp. Glenn Chapman
  4. I have a Roe Crossfire, Roe Unlimited, Insect Dragonfly and a Bozi Mad Bomber. If you are not going to race slalom I would recomend the Insect. For me it has a very snowboard like feel to it, it is like doing cross under turns on a slalom cut snowboard. If you think you might want to do some slalom skateboard racing go for the Roe. The Bozi is a fun board to ride but i usually chose the Insect if I am just playing around.
  5. Chubz, I had a great day riding with you out at Okemo. I have a Volkl 163 and a Madd 158 both are good boards. I like the Madd 158 better, it seems to have better hold on hard snow (ice) conditions. For me it feels more stable at speed, I can do big GS turns or crank some tight SL turns. It is my slalom race board. You do have to ride it hard and agressive to make it work. On a softer day with some loose powder or corn I would want to be on the Volkl.
  6. for some Okemo deals try: http://www.okemo.com/rates/springdeals.html Scott and I are planing on being there on 3/10. See you all then Glenn
  7. I will be heading up tonight and would like to take some runs with you guys. I will be riding either a Volkl 178 or a Madd 158. I signed up yesterday to get on the list for tonight. Do you know where you pick up the $15 passes, if you drive out in your own car?
  8. I just got a O-sin 4807-178 last week. They had it at Eastern Boarder for $130. I rode it yesterday in about 6" of fresh snow and it was a blast. The phone # for Eastern Boarder is 978-777-5650. I think they said that they had a few left in one of the other stores. Glenn
  9. I will try and be there for a few days. See you all then. Glenn Chapman
  10. Our next race is on the same day as your next race (1/22). If you have any other races scheduled let me know and I will tell the riders about it at the riders meeting. Can you get any hill space for a midweek (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) night USASA race at Wachusett? Ben, Millie and I would show up and I may be able to get a few other people interested. I think you could draw some of the other series riders for midweek night events around the Boston area. A lot of the riders seem to come from this area and maybe looking for something to do during the week.
  11. 69 racers. The results are up on the USASA NH page. https://www.usasa.org/series/series.lasso?-token=browse&SeriesCode=newhampshire&-maxRecords=1&-database=regions.fp3&-layout=region_info&-search
  12. It was a fun day of racing and I enjoyed meeting all of you. I hope some of you can make the other races this year. 1/22 at Ragged and 2/27 at Cranmore. Check the USASA web site of schedule changes. Glenn Chapman
  13. Keep it fun! I have two kids both snowboarders. They started skiing at about 3.5 years. When they started to ride snowboards at around 6 they were both intermediate skiers and could ski the entire mountain. On the snowboards they were on the beginner slopes and could only last about 1 hour. For two years we brought both skis and snowboards to the mountain. After they both could ride for the full day they never put on their ski equipment again. My son is now 14 and my daughter is 12 and I can no longer keep up with them. They compete at both alpine and freestyle and can’t wait for the weekend to get back in the mountains. They like the racing part of snowboarding but love the freestyle/all-mountain riding on their softies and I am happy to have two extra riding buddies to share the great outdoors with. I hope you all have as much fun teaching and riding with your kids as I have. (Now they are teaching me.)
  14. No, there is a cost for registration and at that time you can get a reduced rate ticket if you need one. See you this weekend.
  15. Thanks for the update. Every other time I have raced there the trail leading to the race course has been bumped up. It will be nice to get some turns coming down to the course. My Wife usually helps Cindy Guldemond with the registration so we will be there early. If any new riders have any questions about the format of the race or USASA feel free to ask me or Paul Guldemond (he will be the event TD). Note to new riders: get your tickets at registration. They usually have a reduced rate ticket available to competitors.
  16. It was the course at the Sunday River Nationals (did you set it that day?). For me it was very tight with tough conditions. For the most part the courses I have ridden in NH, the 163 works just fine.
  17. I am 6' 205lbs and I ride the 163 volkl for SL, and a 178 volkl for GS. However, it isn't the equipment slowing me down (lack of talent). It depends on who set the SL, sometimes I think I would like to be on a shorter board.
  18. You can register for USASA at the event. They do have a one day option but if you want to do more events you may want to consider the seasonal registration. Sharpen and wax your board. Some people wear protective gear and speed suits most do not. Helmets are required. for more info go to: https://www.usasa.org/series/series.lasso?-token=browse&SeriesCode=newhampshire&-maxRecords=1&-database=regions.fp3&-layout=region_info&-search
  19. I think it is a good venue for the up and coming riders as well as those that want to get out there and give it a try. There are usually some good junior riders that may some day make the step to USSA competitions. There are kids from 6 years old to adults past 50.
  20. I will be going. I race in the 40-49 age group,(I am currently 44) we usually has 6-8 racers in this age bracket. You can compare your times with all of the other racers at the event usually 45 or more. I just try and beat my kids times (Ben 14, Millie 12). Ben is usually faster than me and Millie has been known to beat her old man, however this year I have been training harder and they both are going down (if not I may make them walk home). The trail at Sunapee is a fun hill to race on, fast but not intimidating. They usually set GS in the AM and SL in the PM. If you get there early you can avoid some of the wait at registration. Racing USASA has been a lot of fun for me and my family. Hope to see you there.
  21. Thanks, John it was a very informative night. You gave me a lot of things to think about and try. I can't wait to get on the snow this weekend and give them a try. Glenn
  22. I may be a little late but I will be there. I will be happy to video if you need me to. See you tonight. Glenn
  23. We could have a Boston area gathering on 12/7 (north shore division). We could attend the Danvers clinic and go out for a few beers afterwards. See you all then. Glenn Chapman
  24. I have a house near Waterville Valley, I ride mostly WV or Loon. I ride almost every weekend and some of the school vacations (I have two kids). I try and get out on the hill as early as possible and get some early runs in. If you are heading up in that area let me know and we can try and meet up and ride.
  25. I just wanted to say that I made my first turns this season with a board tuned by Mike from PTC and it made me a better rider (anyone that has riden with me knows that I have plenty of room for improvement). My board was holding turns on some pretty firm conditions. If you ride in the north east on our typical conditions his tunes are worth the money. I went to one of his clinics a few weeks ago and it was very informative. I ended up buying one of the Ray's Way waxing tools after trying it at the clinic. The tool is a piece of PVC tube with a sheet of nylon material wedge into it. This is used to "cork" in the wax, no iron required.
