  1. Hey John: Just wanted to drop you a quick note and by the sounds of your postings - you must be feeling better. This might be the season where I might have a small chance in hell in beating you in slalom. Hope the injuries heal up quickly All the best, Rob
  2. I have been riding my Coiler PR 184 with Cateks (WCC) for three seasons now - not a problem. The bindings are set-up normally and I don't even have a mark on the topsheet of the Coiler. I guess Bruce builds the best proforming and bullet-proof boards around. All the best, Rob
  3. I do not know what drugs the seller is on, but I never knew that Coilers sold for $1,100!!!!!!!!!!!!! Knowing Bruce's prices over the past few season's - this price is greatly exaggerated. EBay is based on honesty and the prices quoted in the sellers description are WAY OFF.
  4. Arthur: Excellent shots - we should make you one of the official photographers for this year's ECES. All the best, Rob
  5. Hey Jack: Unfortunately it is not me. By the looks it is one of the Hunter Mountain boys. Rob
  6. Hey Matt: Another fellow Canadian here. My schedule is much of the same, will head down either Tuesday or Wednesday night until Saturday morning. Currently I am the only rider from Toronto/GTA that is planning to go. Should you find someone looking for a couple roomies - keep me in mind. Thanks Rob P.S. What did you paint your Coiler with??
  7. Hey Everyone: The weekend is around the corner and I am planning to head up to Mt. St. Louis this weekend and wanted to know which day everyone is planning to go. Weather looks good for both days. Looking for everyone's plans. Thanks Rob
  8. NewbieChick: What ski resort in Ontario do you ride at?? We have a number of excellent carvers that are at Mt. St. Louis every weekend. Any of us would be happy to provide you with some instruction as well as a group of carvers to ride with. Feel free to contact me. Hope this helps, Rob
  9. Hey Guys: I am looking to get my first day out this year and was wondering if anyone plans to ride Mt. St. Louis this weekend. Give me a heads-up on which day anyone is planning. Thanks Rob
  10. Hey StevieP: Did you tell the baggage handler it was a snowboard or skiis?? I have always found that they don't complain about skiis, especially when they are flying to a ski resort, but snowboards always bother them. I found the same problem when travelling with windsurfers, tell them it is a surfboard and no charges or complaints. I an #$@#$#@@$# jeleous about where you are, with me sitting behind the desk. Enjoy the snow and the carving. Have a great time. All the best for the holidays. Rob
  11. Hey Everyone: Decided it was time for a new helmet and went out looking last week. In reviewing what was out there, I have narrowed my selections down to the Giro Ravine SC, Giro Flint or maybe a Leedom. I am looking for your opinions on these helmets as well as where is the best place to buy them and what prices people have been experiencing. All insight and opinions are appreciated. Thanks Rob
  12. Here is my $2 cents!! My surgeon used a slightly different approach - utilized a artifical ligament (polyprop and kevlar) in combination with a patellar graft. This produced a strong and solid ligament (artifical) encapsulated by a small part of my actual pateller tendon. This resulted in minor complications from removing the patella tendon, but provided a strong base from the artificial. End result - strong and stable knee from day 1 that gave the living tendon time to heal and gain strength. Because there was not long-term studies on this at the time, my surgeon believed that if the artifical tendon began to fail, you had the living tendon wrapped around it to take over. Hope this helps, Dr. Rob
  13. Hey Guys: Got family committments on Saturday, but could be available for Sunday. Anyone planning for Sunday?? Thanks Rob
  14. Hey John: You need to put all of your screws into a little zip lock bag when you take them off and put the bag with your bindings - never loose them. How have you been - haven't seen you since Da Farm this summer? What is the status of the possible re-release of Madds?? Have a great XMAS and will see you at ECES. Thanks Rob
  15. Mackenzie: I am based in Toronto as well and finding good carving gear is tough. First off - I would suggest that you look at a slightly longer length, depending on your height and weight. You can check out Sign of the Skiier, Sporting Life Bikes and Boards and Hogtown - they usually have a couple older carving boards in stock and are usually flexible in pricing. You can also contact Bruce at Coiler (www.coiler.com) - it will be rare, but he might have a board that meets your needs. He is in Toronto, but the demand for his custom boards is so high - it will be lucky if he has one. Other person to contact would be Chris Houghton (he post here), he is in Maple and has excellent contacts in getting used gear and usually has a couple of boards for sale himself. Bomber in excellent - post your needs and see what comes up. Also EBAY is pretty good if you know what you want and what is a reaonable price for it. Hope this helps, Rob
  16. Thefishinmagician: Is your ACL partially or completely torn? I completely tore mine about 13 years ago and had an artificial replacement (polyprop/kevlar) installed. I best suggestion is to really spend some time researching the surgeon and his method of replacement. I would recommend finding a surgeon that works with elite athletes - usually employ techniques that a more effective and have short recovery periods. Do NOT accept the first surgeon you meet - shop around - if he/she screws up it will follow you for life. On a positive note, 2-3 weeks post surgury I was ridding a road bike gently and I have had no problems with my knee since the surgury was completed. Hope this helps, Rob
