    Yo Lci!!

I have a Virus 183 GS from Bola if anyone would like to try it. Too much board for me. I will be on the 174 RS World Cup UPM.

    Yo Lci!!

Mario, I am in for 3 to 3-5 hours tomorrow am. Let me know if you want a ride. Could meet at the Morrison (stegasauras) lot at 6 or 6:10. Arne
  7. I strongly disagree. I rode a Virus Gladiator (17.1 wide) and it dove straight into the bottom of a foot of pow. Maybe you could ride it if you mounted the bindings all the way back, which isn't they way the board was designed to be ridden. Do you really think a 12 wide skwal would work in pow, I think not. I am not saying that this is the best, but this is what I ride in pow and wind slab at Loveland, where there is a bit of wind. I like the surfy feel that you get when you can turn with slight ankle movements. I don't feel as locked in on my turns and can hit a heelside quickly if a tree suddenly appears. Board: Nitro 178 Swallowtail- old and soft Boots: Vans Matlock with velcro ankle strap Bindings: Burton Custom-the softest binding I could find.
  8. During the last cold spell several weeks ago (before SES) I had the opportunity to test the HRRW on two different boards. The temperature varied from -4F at the bottom to an estimated -10F at the top of Loveland Basin (10,800 to 12,000 feet elevation). Both boards were prepared the same, a warm rub on with a wax wizzard rub in. The first board tested was a prototype Donek 183 with the new super glide base, which is designed to reduce static build up. This board ran very well on the groomed snow at these temperatures. There was some sticking on the soft wind blown snow. The second board tested was my F2 Speedster 186. This board was slightly slower on the groomed snow, and did not want to break loose on the soft wind blown snow at all. To summarize, HRRW works in cold temps to about -10F and the super glide base is noticably faster in these condtions. Thanks Tony for the chance to test these products. Keep up the good work.
  9. I am on my 186 F2 Speedster, the park rat and his friend are on 150 twin tips. One friend says to the other, I bet I can keep up with him. I laugh. The other friend says "dude, that guy just laughed at you". Fortunately, we ride off in different directions so we don't have to find out.
  10. Thanks for all the responses. I will consider my self lucky and not ride these again. I have some other ideas that I would like to try with the TD 1's.
  11. I wanted to add a little sideways flex to some TD 1's and came up with this. Took a few runs on it yesterday, and it felt pretty good. I am a little concerned that it may load up the threaded parts of the bails, and cause a failure. I have already broken one heel bail without this setup. Any constructive comments are welcome. Thanks

    Yo Lci!!

Ink, I looked for you yesterday, but did not see you. Saw one guy on a test Rossi skwal, but that was the only other hardbooter. Rode the Oxygen proton from 9 to 10:30 when the sun was out. Went to the softies once the snow came and the light went flat. The crowds were out in full force. Besides being cold and windy, it is also crowded now. Anyone riding Sunday, the 2nd?, should be a good day. Happy New Year!
  13. well said Bola man. Hope to see you in Aspen.

Don, I saw your Jeep, but did not see you. Did see Angie and said hi. You left too early. They dropped the ropes on Forest Meadow off chair 6 and the South Chutes off chair 2 in the afternoon. Would you believe riding all of the 6 feet of untracked snow that has fallen this fall. The Nitro Powder swallow tail and the twin skwal skis were in heaven. Hope you see you guys Sunday, since I have been a weekend no show.

    Yo Lci!!

Arrived a little before 9 on Monday after avoiding the trucks and suv's off the side of the road. The old Volvo turned into a snowplow in the parking lot with about a foot of slush to plow through. Went out on the softies, since it was snowing and blowing. The first few turns on the right side of Mambo were in powder. After a few more runs I saw Angie and Jim. Jim was having a great time on his new gear. Took a run with them and ran into Monodude. He was cruising on the Donek skwal. The temp dropped from 28 to 18 and the wind increased. It continued to snow hard. Quit around 11:45. The legs are a little sore today, but the old knees feel ok. May try to ride the hard boots and board on Thursday. Overall, a very good first day of the season.

Sounds like a good decision to me. Similar to the standard Loveland saying, today's is; "Its cold today, but at least its raining". Arne

I am a wimpy fair weather rider. I don't like to damage the trails by riding in mud. Actually, I don't like to get wet, get mud on me and my bike, and don't like cleaning and re-lubing the bike. I will see how it looks and make the call by 9. Arne

    Yo Lci!!

<HR>we did not see you on the hill much this year so..... My season didn't start until December, so I only have 38 days at Loveland and 20 at other areas. I know I am a slacker.

    Yo Lci!!

All gloating aside, today was one of the best carving days of the year. Good snow, good light, good wind, warm temps. Sorry to do this to you, but needed to share the view.

    Yo Lci!!

Monodude and I had a great time this am on 4, 8 & 9. The 8" rode more like 14. The Nitro Swallow Tail and the Duret? mono ski were making some nice turns. We were just along for the ride. Mono, I lost you on the way back from 8. Where did you go? It was sunny and warm, but at least it was windy. May need to try it again tomorrow. The end is near. Arne:)
