  1. Larry doesn't mind sharing he too is a photo pig :lol: The 06 INDO shots are of his trip with Mike Doyle. I got the newest slide show of the 07 trip the other night. I was DROOLING so bad they had to put a 5 gallon bucket under me. I'm ready to give up the full time mtn life for the full time beach life and just come visit the mtns for vacation. I need desperately to get my kitesurfing up to par as fast as possible. Joel
  2. Michelle, Can you still come and just socialize or is that limited too? thanks, Joel
  3. It'll be at the tent the morning after it gets to my house from Bruce. Just ask there if its there and how to reserve it for a few runs. That one will probably be in high demand. Until Bruce ships them I'm not sure yet when I'll get them but believe me I'll get them to the tent asap. Also if you are around the weekend after the event I'll have them still and will be at Buttermilk that weekend and you can hook up with me. JoelP
  4. I'll be at Buttermilk and Highlands days with the boards. I'll have my phone with me too. 970-948-3348, local Aspen #. JoelP
  5. That's Larry Casturita from Beaver Creek. He's also a Haber Vision rep. JoelP
  6. You are better off contacting Bruce directly at info (at) coiler (dot) com. He has an amazing amount of stuff that is not on the web site for sizes, SCR's and waist. there's a good chance he already has what he needs to build you a board and then there is no extra charge. Otherwise he'll be the best bet for answering your question and he's pretty good at getting back to you asap. He's excellent to work with but delivery time is always the hardest thing to get. JoelP
  7. There a small possibility I have a room in Glenwood available at the house. PM me and I'll try to work out the details with you if anyone is interested. Also:I drive up to Aspen everyday to work and can accomodate a passenger so you wouldn't need a car. My schedule is I leave at 6:45 and can go directly to the Buttermilk area and drop you off at 7:45 or 8 (commuter traffic in the morning is more than later). Then you can hook up a bus to any mtn from there or ride there pending the schedule. I leave to head down valley at 4:00 everyday so if you want to ride down with me instead of the bus I would pick you up at Buttermilk at 4:00. I plan on attending the Session on the weekends and some random 2 days during the week pending weather (I'm picky on what days since I have that option). So during those days we can get there later and stay later. The only thing I ask for chauffering, is to share gas costs and that's about $5.00 (cost me $10 a day to commute). I have to make sure Diana's (my other 1/2) son isn't coming back from school to visit and if he isn't then our guest room will be open for a small charge. So PM me and I can go from there. Hope we can help out some how even if it's just rides to and from since I drive up everyday anyway. JoelP
  8. Dave, funny funny Bruce, Might be worth me getting some cosmetic surgery and changing my name to Jolene or something. No problem, I'll get it to the right people. Send me the new Tribal colors to pick from. I think you said there were 3. Schtubbys rule... JoelP
  9. Brucie, need mine for SES in 2 weeks....get busy and stop typing:AR15firin:AR15firin:AR15firin:AR15firin
  10. William got to admit you are a funny guy. Now I Euro carve :lol::lol: I'm not one to argue I am right, I like discusions and learning new things and sometimes find some new things work and some don't. Flat doesn't work for me and the few times I've been around Chris Klug over here I've noticed he doesn't like flat/flat either...but then maybe that's because he was out Eurocarving that day. I'll stop arguing with you since I now see you are right. Eurocarve :lol::lol:, haven't tried that for 15 years... JoelP
  11. Not to get in a pissing fight but where did I say I didn't try it? I tried it a few years ago when I bought the new TD2's and went through all the lifts to find my present stance. I use lift and still feel it's personal and I am not saying my lifts are for everyone neither am I saying flat/flat is for everyone. so please don't assume I haven't tried it and I did find it WAS less work for me using lift. Hey, I'm not saying any one thing is the right thing. what I am saying is I tried your experiment and it didn't work or feel right for me. Nor did riding flat/flat....and no it wasn't a one run experiment. Your thoughts are very rewarding to think about but do not necessarily work for me. I'm more in agreement with Jack here. Also by saying 20 years of riding I'm not bolsting my rip ability but my comfort level of where my stance is today. JoelP
  12. Well I tried this chair thing and it works if my feet are flat and under me. If I move one foot forward and one foot back as if I was standing on my board then in order to keep the angle from my foot to my leg the same my front foot toes rise and my rear foot heel rises. I don't ride the way it is being explained in this scenario. Therefore I can't accept it. I believe it's personal preference and that each should give different things a try to find their comfortable position. At that point they can work on having fun whether it be with our without lift. Also being near 50 years old now if I ride flat/flat, my legs will be done in a short day. Probably more important for me than cant/lift would be yoga  That unkowledgable wisdom coming from riding a carving board for 20 years. JoelP
  13. I know the board since I helped Pat pick it out. Superboard 250 construction, not Titanal, 19 cm waist 14.2 SCR Pat had 58250 as part of the serial number but it actually reads SB250 meaning Superboard 250 construction. the 19 after the PRII is the waist width because the PRII had 2 options for waist. 14.2 was the standard SCR for the 184 PRII and that is what Pat got. 06PD1 only means year built (06) for who (Pat Donnelly) and his 1st board that year (1). then the 6.9 is the flex for that board. Hope that helps JoelP
  14. No car is needed. the buses run continously and stop all over the place in town. Just be sure to grab the right bus (they'll be a lighted sign on the front) to the right mtn you want to go to that day. There are a lot of buses !!!!!! You'll probably get to the mtn of choice faster and easier without the car !!!!!! and cheaper too with gas at $4/gal here JoelP

    Thanks JoelP

thanks Mark, So sorry I wasn't able to ride with you on every run. Way to many freinds pulling in to many directions. We will get to ride another day for sure where it isn't so hectic and I'll bring the digi camera. But you are defiently on your way. Keep showing up at Buttermilk and there will always be someone around to ride with for a few runs anyway. Stay away from the steeper stuff for now so no bad survival habits get implanted into your muscle memory. We'll stay in touch JoelP
  16. Mark, I'll call you today, Friday. I have to go to tiehack on Sat. there are others I'm also meeting there who only have Buttermilk/Highlands passes and they like Tiehack. In years past as long as we don't go down the front (quad) side we'll not see anyone all day other than us. EVERYONE stays away from Buttermilk during the games which leaves is to us :lol::lol::lol: Also there may be the lone front ranger coming over to visit for the day to ride with us too. Talk soon, Joel
  17. It's XGames weekend so if I make it on Sat. I'll be over on the Tiehack lift and will park there too. It's usually empty over there during Xgames. Stay away from the front side of Buttermilk if you do go there. It's a royal pain dealing with the bottom cluster with Xgames. I'll not know if I'm going until the last minute Sat. morning. I wake up and look at the weather and if visibilty is good I'll be there otherwise I'll do something else..I will be wearing a white jacket with red pants off silver helmet and be riding a blue/white floral print Coiler. I may have my camera backpack on too so I can take some pictures of you to help see your heel side issues. Joel
  18. Scott, You don't have to spend thousands to come to Aspen. Staying downvalley is very affordable and then the food is also affordable. The only thing costly is needing a car. There are buses up and down the valley all day but then you are not on your schedule and need to plan accordingly. Contact Pat Donnelly from this site and he can give you good numbers on the cost for a week. He and his wife come yearly, stay in Glenwood and rides everyday. I usually get a few days with him on Buttermilk during his stay and he can confirm that when we go we pretty much have a whole section of the mtn to ourselves. We ride hard and wall to wall everyday here without traffic or worries about getting hit from behind...it's just knowing where to go and when, it's very easy. During SES is the only real time I deal with traffic. To bad you aren't into paragliding too since the guys go up about everyday to fly from Ajax if the weather permits. If you have any specific questions on Aspen just PM me. JoelP
  19. tried telling her to leave the carving board at home...but noooo....
  20. At Snowmass and Aspen Highlands there is some hike to ski terrain. Whenever I am in there I where my beacon. I also have 2 so that when someone doesn't have one I strap one on them too. In 25+ years of ski/snowboarding in bounds I've been in 3 slides of which not one has buried me but I've been caught in them. The ski areas are opening more difficult, steeper terrain all the time and do a great job at it but snow is NOT 100% predictable in these extreme areas, it's always a small risk as compared to backcountry. If you ski/ride in bounds and are not pushing the extreme then the possibilities are about nill, but if your in the cliff bands and chutes that are open today there is some but minimal risk, therefore since I have the beacons...why not use them. Joel
  21. Hey Mats, sorry you aren't going to be here. Is that how I understand it? Will miss seeing you under the chair everytime I ride up  so whos' gonna be demoing your board here? You'll also need to recant your statement about the surfiest board being a split tail. I've ridden them and to much pop for my surf style. I guess that's the difference between longboard riding and new school smashing the lip. When will I see you again? Joel
  22. Terry, don't get to wrapped up in all the tech, it can drive you nuts unless you are out everyday and can play around with things to see the differences but truely in the end they are all very sutle (sp?) and don't add up to any major leaps in performance. I see your avatar is a Carveboard, I bet (I know) your feet aren't locked in, you flex a lot at the ankle to get low and you probably move around a bit. I ride a STIK all summer, love to just go with the flow of a street. Carving on the snowboard is the same unless you are full on racing. I use heel lift and toe lift for comfort, ride my boots very soft, use about the same angles on all boards (even ride my STIK with the same feet position). If you are riding a Carveboard then you are probably into the flow. Just think the same thing on the snowboard and flow from turn to turn and not be so worried about the tech part. the biggest difference going from a Carveboard to the snowboard is being locked in....so think loose not stiff. Joel
  23. here's my experience with that board. I ride mostly the Pure Races's (PR) and I have lots of people demo my boards. I always center my stance to the inserts and when I set up other people's bindings I do the same. I've not found any of the Coilers to ride any better than to be centered. Then came my AM. I centered it and rode it there and all was fine...kind of..the AM has a different flex pattern than the PR's and what i found was that if I was out on a hard snow day trying to hard charge carve, the initiation was always a lot tougher than the PR's. Once in the turn all was okay but I was off on my initiation of the turn. It felt weird so I started moving my bindings forward and found about 1" worked well for me. But then it wasn't riding as well in crud, chopped up, powder, bumpy stuff. So I moved them back and the board was in balance again for that type of riding. Well the AM is just what it is, it's an All Mountain board and has a different flex. It will do everything good but not everything as good as a board specific board. For me that meant if it was a pure carving, hard charging day I would ride my PR's, I could ride the AM and be very happy but the PR's were that much more fun. the moral of the story is that you'll need to adapt your style a bit differently to the AM to get it's full capabilities. It is designed to do everything well but nothing perfectly. Wait a bit longer on turn initiation and drive a bit more off the nose (think beginning contact point) and it will hook up fine, just a tad later than you may be accustomed to. Then lay into it centered again and the middle of the board will work like a PR. Keep your stance as close to centered or else you'll lose it's other capabilities in junky snow by applying to much nose pressure and the back of the board will spin out or not follow correctly. I hope that helps a bit and I'll try to explain more if needed. The AM is a bit stiffer in nose and tail and softer in mid section where his other boards are more balanced in flex, therefore the different feeling in ride and a bit of change needed in style....a subtle change and you'll get it. But don't go to far forward or the tail will not follow the nose. Mike has a titanal AM.....a whole different beast....titanal boards in general are a bit softer overall in flex and his is one of the first AM titanal boards so therefore may have needed a bit less nose pressure. that's part of what Bruce has been learning over the last winter riding these new boards. Telluride

Okay, we kind of hijacked this thread but since it still deals with Telluride in general then I guess it's okay. No my shop wasn't Freewheelin, it was the Ski Service Center at the base of chair 7, not there anymore as we were bought out by Kenny Gart. I moved on to the real carving mecca...Aspen..quite awhile ago but spent the majority of my time in Telluride and still feel it's my other home. You should give SB hardboots a try, they are so comfortable, my feet scream at me in softies but I can go days in the hardboots. I ride a Fish too and only in hardboots, again the softies hurt me so bad. I can see a Fish ruling down there!!!!! David rides those damn ski boots as his hard boots. Things have changed in boots dramatically and even more so with the new titanal boards. Hard boots that flex rule and if they flex a lot even better. I ride my hard boots in walk mode and have converted a lot of people into that mode. David some day you need to try a new hard boot out but you may be stuck in the old ways.. if you ever come this way give me a shout, I'll try to get out and show you some carving. Joel
  25. wow, just getting on the thread from a few days away. Yuck.....good luck with the PT, work it and we'll see you back out, So sorry, Joel
