  1. Jim, how is the weight on the fissle? My Durpaz is pretty heavy due to the added nose length and width. Surpisingly, it launches off anything with ease. Just works on your leg if you don't have a bar on the lift. Weighs you down hiking too. I wonder if a PowStick might work with beefed up inserts for HBs?
  2. I could set you up with an old Rossi 159 SL board in VG shape. Size 26 124 Raichles. I have the same size foot at 26.7. Boots were a little on the tight side but fit. You could always get a bigger liner if you needed too as the shells take up to 26.5. Step in heels. Raichle X-bone stepin bindings for $250 + shipping. It is a fun little carver that is great to learn on and will turn tight carves. Very easy to manuver through crowds/catwalks etc. I'm waiting on some pieces to fix the cant adjuster on the boots but they just shipped out yesterday from Bomber.
  3. Forgot to mention that Monarch has cat tours too! Check out Silverton Mtn if you are into extreme backcountry style stuff that is partially lift served.
  4. Monarch, CO is another good ski area. Stay in Salida which is about 30 mins for $30 with good choice of restraunts. Cheap lift tickets and nice terrain. A little of the beaten path, but this is good.
  5. That is a nice looking stick! A shorter version of that would fit the bill I believe. The Cult isn't pow specific, but was designed as a hardboot all mountain freeride board. It does do well in resort powder. Deepest I've used it in was 23" of fluff. Was great in that. The Dupraz is a tight radiused board too with a lot of nose with decamber. It pretty much is perfect except for the width. I have underhang on the front foot with softboots at 33 degrees. I have the toe ramp pushed all the way out on it. No way to run the hardboots with enough angle and still be on the edge.
  6. Gear it towards skiers. Skiers seem to "get it". All the carvers at Telluride are also avid skiers. Except me. All the new converts are all skiers. Skiers always stop us and ask about the boards and equipment. Skiers always stop and watch us carve and say how awesome it looks. I've only had 1 snowboarder ask about it. I've got him set up with gear now too. Youngest carver is in his mid 30's out here too. Youngsters only have interest in how high they can launch and how many times they can spin. All the big companies have all their gear aimed at this group too. Skiers get using their edges to turn and already are used to hardboots.
  7. Current setups. Softboots: dynastar 3800 33 25 dupraz D1 5'5" 33 20 Hardboot: SG Cult 169 with Nidecker freecarve bindings 40 32 (My favorite all mountain HB setup) Oxygen Apex 165 with Blax 45 35 (very fun board that I use for my rock AM setup.) MLY Signature 167 with Proflex Freecarve bindings 58 48 (rock board for carving) Coiler AM titanal 172 wide w/ SnoPro Race bindings 55 48 for carving. (haven't had it out much yet as conditions haven't been the greatest until now and its powder) I don't think I want to tackle the double black steeps and tight trees on this yet. All time favorite for ripping up the entire mountain is the Cult on HB and the Dupraz on soft. Might need to try a D1+ with HB setup but those boards are expensive. Got the D1 by trading my Incline straight across. Unfortunatelly, as stated previously the Cult is no longer made. Would like to get a board that is a cross between the Cult and short Durpaz. I really like the Dupraz but the width at the front would probably be a bit of problem with my HB size. That, in my mind would be the ultimate. Haven't tried an ATV or 4x4 yet though.

    Gear to loan

I've got several boards set up for hardbooting. All are AM/FC type boards ranging in length from 165-178. Have 1 extra pair of hardboots in size 26M. Just ordered some parts from Bomber to get them back into shape. Would be happy to set up anyone coming to Telluride and do some turns with you. Just e-mail me if you are going to be in the area and need a board to try out. Got another friend who often loans out GS boards to people. Might have to use a set of my bindings though as he only has Intech StepIns at the moment.
  9. Anybody seen one of these boards? This thing looks awesome. Anyone know where to buy one? http://www.sportsgearguide.com/scripts2005/snowboardmoreinfo.asp?ID=150&Brand=Dynastar&Name=The Legend Autodrive
  10. Proton Sold! SG still available. Thanks Everett
  11. I've had some great days in powder. One time on my Cult in 23" at Snowmass was very memerable. Softer flexing bindings (SnowPro Race) with AF700's. You can really charge through any chopped up snow with ease. I still like softboots for untracked though. More of a surfy feel. Durpaz and Dynastar 3800 for those days. But, on resort pow that gets tracked quickly I'll take my SG Cult with soft plate and hardboots anyday
  12. Doesn't anybody want this? It is a fun board, just a little too stiff for me on softboots and too wide for me on hardboots (26.5M). Open to offers or even a trade for nice freeride board. I need a good softboot rock board. Let me know what you have. Don't want anything of the wide variety.
  13. I think I'm looking more for a freeride type setup that will carve decent. The Cult 169 I have is pretty darn good for everything. It is just a little on the long side for tight and steep stuff. It carves well and is great in powder. Just wish it was a little shorter and narrower. It is a 23.8 cm wide board. Plus they are getting hard to find since they haven't made them since 09. The 3800 is better suited for softboots for me due to the width. I'm thinking Hard Attack type of riding.
  14. What specs would you have to create the ultimate hardboot specific freeride board? I want to get or have built a board that will do it all. Something that will charge on groom, steeps, powder that can easily manuver through tight trees, bumps, etc. I have found a few boards that fit this criteria. 1. SG Cult 2. Dynastar 3800 3. Durpraz. 1 and 2 are no longer made unfortunatelly and the Dupraz is expensive and on the heavy side. What length, shape, specs would you use if you weighed 160 lbs and have size 26.5M boots? I'm thinking something in the 164-168 length with a sidecut around 9-10M. Softer flexing nose that comes to a point. Short tail in case you need to ride switch. 23 cm wide with about 1 cm of taper. I wonder if a modified flex and shaped Incline would fit the bill with the new VSR and decamber? Just would want it to be more floaty for powder days. Really like a big softer nose that will just go over anything.
  15. Here is a link to some info on it http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=33524
  16. I'll take them if the heels fit Raichle boots. PM sent.
  17. Any interest in a softshell board bag? It is a Ride. A little on the musty side but in VG condition overall. Had my MLY Signature 167 in it. Was a little tight on it but it fit. I'm guessing any board under 167 should fit nicely. How's $50 shipped in the lower 48 for it? Can take pics if anybody wants. E-mail me at jenintmk3 @ yahoo.com (remove the spaces)
  18. What is it with the inserts on new boards? All boards from freestyle to freeride seem to start at 22" for the narrowest stance. I have a 30" inseam and can't go much over 20" without discomfort. My max is about 21". I ride all boards with forward angles though. Do you have to ride these new boards duck or something? I don't do any tricks that involve me spinning or landing switch. I don't want to go back to duck. Looks like only custom boards in the future. Thank goodness there are companies around like Donek. Can't wait to see the new fish that Sean is coming out with
  19. Found this Elan board that is suposededly the "widest board in the world". Pretty wide at over 28 cm. http://www.snowboardsusa.com/html/elan_snowboards_0.html For anyone else looking to go wide and get a stock board.
  20. Buyer fell through on both boards. Both still available. Will sell both for $650 shipped in Lower 48 if you need a long and short toy.
  21. Will update if Proton sells. If anyone is in the Telluride area, I would be glad to let you test drive the SG. This really is a fun board, I just have to push it real hard at my weight (160). My legs are burning after about 10 runs.
  22. Are you sure you don't want to take the plung and just get hardboots and bindings? You could find used boots and bindings that would work for years for around $300 total. You would spend more than that on new softboots and bindings of any quality. You could use this with your board and then upgrade boards later on if you feel like HBs would work out for you. As for carving, it really is hard to beat a hard boot setup. I have riden a softboot carving board with both soft and hard setups and you sure can carve better with the hard boots. Much better response and edge hold. Softboots work great with the right conditions, but the HBs will give you better control all around.
  23. Hi Scrapster. Forgot to take them out of the add. I actually have them listed on e-bay with starting bid of $9.99. Here is the link. You might get them for super cheap. There are some better pics on the auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220733974289&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123
