  1. My second pick was the TaylorMade RAC LT. So smooth. I'm sure the OS's are the same. TM makes a nice iron.
  2. The worst is empty pickup trucks - ie. not working trucks. Always a young male with excess testosterone. Hey mirror70, looks like you'll be in the market for new clubs. I recommend the KZG Evolution or Evolution II if you like oversized. Sweetest forged irons on the market. Butter smooth. Add a Titleist 905R driver and Hogan Edge CFT fairway woods/hybrids and you're good to go.
  3. Don't forget to check out your local hockey shop for cheap protective gear. For butt pads, they make referee girdles that are meant to be worn under loose pants. They make the same thing for ringette but I'm guessing this is an unknown sport in most parts of the U.S. To protect your neck as Rob suggests, there are various models of neck guards for forwards and goalies.
  4. When shipping USPS, I've never once been charged anything but a small processing fee ($5), GST and PST on any item I have shipped from the US. This is a lot of car parts that have "Made in Germany" written all over them plus snowboards and outdoor gear from various countries. Honestly, I don't think the Customs guys can be bothered with the paperwork for what amounts to 3% or 5% tariffs, not with the amount of goods flowing across the border. And yes, BoarderYUL, you need to dispute that charge. I once had an Italian steering wheel sent to me with an honest declared value of $300. The Customs agent thought he knew something about vintage car parts and assessed me taxes at $1,500! I disputed the charge and got a cheque within 6 months.
  5. Kind of like picking a snowboard, eh? First, decide what you're going to use it for, determine your skill level, budget, and future needs then choose accordingly. What's better? Burton Vapor or a Coiler Pure Carve?
  6. I think the OP is right in the weight range for the Donek Pilot. Would make a nice starter board.
  7. I had a Sony Vaio for a couple of weeks earlier this summer. It was one of their business class machines - BX something. It ran brutally hot and battery life was literally 45 minutes. I sent it back. Bought a MacBook Pro. Haven't looked back. I was immediately productive with the thing without loading a bit of new software, without installing virus protection, anti-spyware, disk defragmenter, TCP/IP optimizer, Bluetooth drivers, etc... Oh, I forgot the best part, I can't run my favourite games on it so I'm way more productive.
  8. I have a 160 Factory Prime that won't get much riding this year. I just had it professionally tuned. It's a fairly stiff slalom board. Excellent shape. If you're interested, I'm sure we can work out a deal.
  9. Allee: I passed the deal onto rcrobar who posts here once in a while. I figured the splitboard would be more useful in the BC interior than leaning against my office wall.
  10. Keep your eyes open in the Classifieds section here. I've picked up a lot of nice boards here over the years. A lot of Prior WCRs seem to come up. Or maybe it's the the same one that keeps getting passed around like a bottle of white wine.
  11. Great story. Printed it off for my kids.
  12. If you're in Van., you have one of the best selections of carving boards in the world - it's the Prior showroom. Head on up to Whistler and get a look at them. Chris is pretty generous with demos too. I gouged one up pretty bad once and he just said - "it's sporting equipment, not a museum piece". I bought my first ever carving board (4WD) from him that day.
  13. Did you guys see "Meet a Black Person" (in Aspen, CO)? Too funny.
  14. I figured that but aren't the barbs deployed through reflex rather than any intentional movement? That would mean, docile or not, if the stingray is stepped on or grabbed in an the wrong way, it could stick you. I'm guessing Irwin wasn't thinking too clearly when he pulled the barb out.
  15. I'm organizing a trip to Vail in mid-January and I'm looking for leads on private condo rentals. First time there for me so any pointers on what to avoid, what to look for, would help. 5-6 people all on the "mature" side so we're looking for something quiet, slopeside, central.
  16. Ever been to or heard of Stingray City off the Cayman Islands? I was there in March and there were hundreds of people wading on the sandbar with dozens of stingrays swimming around. People were feeding them, petting them and kissing them. Little kids were trying to grab them as they swam by. No armour to speak of. Curiously, the guides never mentioned that they may be lethal. That's us defying death.
  17. Boris: Where'd you get them and did they have any more? HK
  18. I've removed graphite shafts from golf clubs with heat without damaging the shaft. I apply a heatgun while twisting the shaft by hand. As soon as the heat releases the epoxy, the shaft twists and I remove the heat. It helps that I'm applying the heat to the metal clubhead and not to the shaft directy.
  19. Maybe the new owners can reverse the damage. Cut some new runs down to the south base, reduce the number of events that cut the exiting south runout in half, publish realistic snow reports, drop the lift ticket prices, fire "Pat, the Androdgenous Security Guard". That would be a nice start.
  20. IntraWest was always about real estate not skiing or snowboarding. They ruined Mont Tremblant.
  21. Now I've never seen the show but looking at that photo posted by whillywhit, I don't know any Whistler snow bums who look like that. Not enough facial hair and way too clean.
  22. Great ride, but you got the extended warranty, right? I've made good use of it on my '04 320i. Lots and lots of gadgetry that, when it breaks, costs mucho dinero.
  23. Sold my Carveboard because I got sick of carrying mine. Now I'm looking for a lighter ride but find nothing to my liking. Can't seem to find anything that allows me to control my speed like the Carveboard.
  24. Jack, you must be suffering from over-exposure to Fox News and CNN. Not every journalist has an axe to grind. And again, I'll disagree with you on the Ross article. He is and will be forever linked to the pot scandal. And he milks it too. Witness his recent Kokanee tour. Do you think a beer company would hire Ross if he didn't have a party-hearty image? Didn't the Kokanne ads have some tagline about it being "legal"?
